They won't even let him take his fucking shirt off, they certainly aren't gonna put him on the main roster. Sorry, long time Hero fan, hate his NXT run.

I'll be picking that up this afternoon! Though be warned it apparently only works if you are online. Not that you have to play online against other people, but your computer must be connected or the stuff that came in the DLC will not work.

Under-the-radar wrestling book recommendations
Blehschmidt replied to Cross Face Chicken Wing's topic in Pro Wrestling
I will go ahead and second this one. I am about half way into the book and enjoying it quite a bit. Very fun and interesting read. Wasn't sure I would like it since I can't stand Double J, but his grandmother and father are quite alright!! -
I never would have thought to associate the words Hidden Gem and Super Calo, but the rest of those are pretty sweet!

At least his English is a little better this time.

Sorry the Impact show sucked, but I have to figure the CMLL show will be amazing even if it's just for the atmosphere. Looking forward to your report! If you have time, maybe you can solve a mystery for me! Every time a lucha guy comes to an indy show in the States, they never have t-shirts bigger than XL. I've often wondered if that's because they don't have them, or they don't bring them!

Is "nothing matters anymore" generally accepted as truth here?
Blehschmidt replied to Loss's topic in WWE
To answer your base question. I don't know that "nothing matters anymore" is the best phrasing for what it is that so many of us feel. Certainly there are things they could do creatively that would turn off large portions of their audience, get themselves kicked off of television, etc. Of course they won't do those things, they will continue chugging along, pumping out the same vanilla PG content that they have been week after week, month after month, year after year. For me at least, the feeling that I sum up as "nothing matters anymore" is what used to be versus what is. It has become quite obvious that the current product they are comfortable putting out has passed me by, and I just need to accept that fact. Getting mad about it, or bitching about it isn't going to change anything, because it's currently making them millions, so they have no reason to change a damn thing. I think back to when I started watching, sometime around 1986 and what things meant then. The titles meant something. The matches meant something. The stories and the build meant something. Feuds had pay offs. Guys had motivations. Now the belts don't mean shit. They run the pay per view main events six times before the pay per view. Feuds last a month, stories have no cohesiveness, and while guys used to feud because they wanted to be champion or they wanted to make more money, now they fight because of Twitter or because they threw coffee at each other. But where "nothing matters anymore" really comes into play, at least for me, is that feeling I used to get. That feeling that wrestling was worth my investment. When Ricky Steamboat finally won the Intercontinental Title, 8 year old me didn't give a fuck how many stars the match would get, or how well it would hold up 30 years later. I was just stoked as hell that The Dragon got revenge for his crushed larynx! I think back to when Flair won the 92 Royal Rumble, and how 13 year old me was amazed that the NWA guy just went an hour from number 3 to become the WWF Champion. Nobody had ever done that! I think back to watching ECW as a teenager and thinking I was cool as fuck because I was watching some shit no one around here knew about. That's all gone now. For all of their talk of Wrestlemania "Moments" and trending worldwide on Twitter, they have turned my 32 year hobby into a chore. Whether it is lack of competition, Vince hates wrestling, or whatever the reason. They have homogenized the main programming into a rinse and repeat show where each week they try to make it seem exciting, and they give away everything, all the while, nothing actually happens. Thank god for comps and the occasional good indy show. -
You are thinking too small! Forget about little old Wrestlemania. Why would Shawn Michaels return there. When instead he could return at.... The Greatest Wrestlemania (Live from The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia $$$$$$)

This really seems to be the perfect description of the company these days. They've made all of the titles meaningless, they run the same shit over and over again and build to nothing, and when something does manage to catch fire, they either immediately squash it because it wasn't what they wanted to get over, they mismanage it so badly that no one cares anymore, or they repeat it so fast and so often that no one ever wants to see it again.

World Class Championship Wrestling on the Network
Blehschmidt replied to flyonthewall2983's topic in WWE
I can't believe Jay Saldi stayed employed for as long as he did. His constant references to other promotions, putting over talent that didn't work for World Class, and just random rambling absolutely didn't seem like something that Fritz would put up with. I have been slowly making my way through the World Class on the Network, and I can't wait for him to be gone. -
Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
Blehschmidt replied to TravJ1979's topic in Pro Wrestling
Ratings systems are inherently flawed as what some might consider the greatest match ever, others might consider a boring piece of shit. If you like it, tell people about it. No need to assign a number or star amount too it. I would solidly give Meltzer's 6 Stars to Harlem Heat vs Public Enemy at Uncensored 97 over Omega/Okada simply based on Dusty Rhodes absolutely losing his shit on commentary while the guys in the ring just wail on each other with whatever "plunder" was available. One was boring to me, and the other has me laughing hysterically every time I watch it. So, too me, which is better? While to someone else, I probably just blasphemed! -
What's the start time on the East Coast for this?
-
Just finished the Star Wars show. It has, in the following order: Mil Mascaras vs Tim Brooks Fritz vs Kabuki Kerry vs Harley Kevin/David vs Ayala/Mustafa Battle Royal for 5k

I wonder why the first 5 minutes of the original War Games is cut off in the War Games collection on the Network. I am almost certain it was intact on the War Games blu-ray they released a while back. Weird.

WWE TV 08/20 - 08/26 THE BIG DOG IS THE UNIVERSAL CHAMPION
Blehschmidt replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
Any year end wrestling awards that includes a "Most Improved" category, better have Buddy Murphy winning by a considerable margin this year. The difference between the tag team guy in NXT and the guy tearing shit up on 205 Live is amazing. -

Seek out the Lucha House Party vs Buddy Murphy/Tony Nese Tornado Tag that main evented 205 Live this week. Really, really good stuff. -

This is not the place to ask people to upload or link you to copyrighted matches. Besides, I get the feeling you would probably enjoy Volk Han matches a lot more. -
I read somewhere this morning that advertisements shown in the arena during Takeover had Michelle McUndertaker advertised as being part of the show as well.
-
Hideo Itami retweeted the news about Aleister Black being attacked with the words "Parking Lot Unsafe" added. I'm sure creative didn't remember that, but a hilarious throwback to continuity by Kenta!

WWE TV 08/06 - 08/12 RIP InfoWars (but not really)
Blehschmidt replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
If anyone hasn't seen this yet, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins are good dudes. https://twitter.com/Fileana2/status/1026294723697369088?s=09 -
It goes up on YouTube every week.

If he tightened up his strikes a bit (which I figure is him afraid of hurting people) he would be damn near perfect for a guy with his experience level. Very impressed with him so far.

Don't forget the shining beacon of class that Sabu has been on Twitter as well.

Mexico has Fenix, Bandido, and Flamita off the top of my head all under 28 years old who are fantastic, and I am sure many others.

The last PPV they had was the Batista Rumble, I think they are still pissed off
