  1. So Sting wins the first match at the Clash, then loses the blow-off (although he didn't get "beat") and then isn't on the Sept Clash? He then starts his push towards the World Title against Luger following? VERY Strange booking... Was Koloff supposed to stay longer and do more?
  2. Sorry, no way Savage / Steamboat Mania IV in the tourney would have TOUCHED 87….couple reasons.. 1. BIG ONE - Time / Show…their match would not have been given the amount of time their Mania 3 match did in the middle of a tournament with like 100 matches on the show... I know quick matches can be good, but no way it touches Mania 3 2. Face vs Face / No Storyline - Both guys were faces and there was no hatred storyline going into it that had one guy trying to finish the other off and also trying to protect a title he had held onto for over a year. And no way WWF mentions what Savage did to Steamboat before Mania III when they are putting the title on him about 90 min later! 3. Savage…Savage was winning that tournament and Steamboat was on the way out, no way they let Steamboat have that kind of match with the guy that's gonna be their champ…I know Valentine gave him a decent (yet quick) match, but he wasn't going anywhere...
  3. Great WM 2000 card... The only thing I'd change is keeping the triple threat Euro / IC match but give them more time to go...the way Kurt loses both belts without being pinned for either was great for his character and kept him strong as hell going into the monster spring / summer / fall he has...

  7. Really? REALLY? Well, that sentence helps to justify almost all of Andy Kaufmann's Memphis comments in 81….j/k.
  8. My favorite PPV of 1990 (due to all circumstances from watching it and the event)... Good match, Hansen KILLS Luger with that Lariat at the end….remember it fondly..
  9. Not gonna repeat what others have said for this one, and I agree with all of it..this match fuckin rocked….I wonder if Sting - Flair here would have been as good? Turning Luger did hurt the rest of 90 as he and Sting could have had a made feud if Sting is here..Amazing match with Amazing commentary / promos…Couple things that make this one of my top 4 or 5 personal favorite matches (US) ever: 1. The Luger promo pre-match with Solie where he makes no mistakes of his plans to bring it "Power Slam, the Rack, Power Slam, the Rack" to quote Luger in that interview..it got me SO pumped that day in Feb seeing it live 2. Jim Ross is at his pinnacle calling this match with Terry Funk. Funk is also awesome on color as he knows Flair after their feud..But Ross takes over late as at the end of this match, he is SCREAMING "Ric Flair is a beaten Man, Ric Flair is a beaten man" when Luger has Flair in the rack. But on the outside an injured Sting who had come to ringside is pursued by Ole and Arn…Ross even does that better as once they cut to that, Ross starts in "Why did he have to come out here" just showing the seriousness…then finally when Luger comes out to save him, and the Andersons are holding onto him to not get back into the ring Ross, once again is SCREAMING "Get back in the ring, Get back in the ring" The ending was fine as is one of the only Countouts that I was perfectly fine with, and everyone involved made sense, with Sting coming down to get Luger pumped up when he was in trouble, and the Andersons coming to do what they do best, attack some hurt prey and save that World Title... Fuck, I love this match..still the best Flair match I have seen as it happened (Live on PPV) .
  10. A podcast for each month of each year of the 90's? Color me downloading and listening to EVERY ONE of them….that is fuckin awesome.. Man, I picked a great time to get back into the sport I love so much…..after a long 10 months off...

  13. If they have to take down stuff to put up new stuff, then they are in some trouble with the network...HDD space is cheap as shit all things considered....
  14. My first thought...Wrestlemania II Gonna wax nostalgic: The first PPV I ever got...I had just got into wrestling in January that year at 7 years old and was HOOKED by this show...still believing in what I was seeing, I couldnt wait for this show and at that time, it didnt disappoint. I got to see all the stars against other stars, which I rarely saw...and I got to see the Huikster bloody and take out that dastardly Bundy after Bundy had attacked and hurt my hero and put him in the hospital. Because of this show and lead up, I STILL love Bundy and rate him WAY higher than he has any right to be...I fuckin love the guy.. Some moments that stick in my head forever: - The grittiness and unpolished presentation of the show (I was a broadcast journalist major). PPV was still really new and they were getting their feet wet on presentation and going in and out of segments...dead air here and there, strange video cuts, strange shots of the crowd, long shots...etc.. - Interviewing the NFL Players in the lead up about the battle rotal and particularly asking them how they'd fare falling 10 or so feel from teh top rope to the floor - Andre tossing out the Harts to win the Battle Royal - The NFL Guys in the ring...I had just discovered the obsession I still have with Football in 85, and those guys were like superheroes to me as well - Fridge pulling out Studd - Terry Funk's knee "injury" in his tag match - Watching the guys bring the New Cage to the ring (the birth of the blue, as they said then "reinforced cage to support Bundy" - Jesse's interview with Bundy and Heenan pre-match "That slow ride to the Hospital.." - Bundy could cut a good promo... - Hogan on top of the cage ripping the shirt off - Hogan taking the belt off and dropping it on the ring, looking at Bundy like "here it is motherfucker, you think you took me out and can take this, no fuckin way.." When this was redone on DVD in the Mania collection, seeing the main event in great color and video (I have the original PPV as well as the Clamshell tape), I have watched the main event probably 20 times...I fuckin love it!
  15. Will, I dont know, you had to have Mr T with Hogan if they were gonna have him (Mr T) in Mania at all, due to all the hype....but I say Hogan (w. Mr T) vs. Piper (w/ Orton) But HOLY SHIT do I love Rose / Borne team, but in WWF they wouldnt have been important at all....which is a damn shame...SO My Mania 1: WRESTLEMANIA I - Matches in Order Ricky Steamboat vs. Matt Borne - Steamboat wins a good technical opener, welcome to WWF Steamboat, time for Ninja Training King Kong Bundy vs.SD Jones - Bundy in 9 sec (or whatever teh WWF wants to call it..just get him ready for a BIG 85) Mike Rotunda / Barry Windham © vs. Iron Sheik / Nikolai Volkoff - WWF Tag Titles (Change) Paul Orndorff vs. Jimmy Snuka - Orndorff wins Tito Santana vs. Greg Valentine (IC Title) - Santana wins by CO Andre the Giant vs. John Studd (Bodyslam Match) - Same as original Brutus Beefcake / Johnny V vs. David / Bruno Sammartino - Brutus pins David after some heel chicanery Wendi Richter (managed by Cyndi Lauper) vs.Lelani Kai © (Manager by Moolah) (Women's Title) (Change) Hulk Hogan (w/ Mr T) © vs. Roddy Piper (w/ Orton) - Hogan by DQ when Orndorff interference backfies - Steamboat being introduced into WWF against a good wrestler, have no issues with this considering the era - Bundy's win sets him up for a big push in 85 - keep it - Tag Title swtich - needed title change on the show and to foreign heels, which still got heat in 85 - Orndorff vs. Snuka takes the guys that were involved in the Hogan / Piper angle and gets them in a match.... - Tito vs. Greg - like Will said about this one...completely agree - Andre vs. Studd was cool for what it wass - Have Bruno in the ring at this show would add old school fans that maybe didnt like the new direction and give Bruno his moment for all he's done - Richter / Kai stays the same with all the build - Hogan beats Piper (DQ most likely) after Orndotff interference backfires and gets Piper DQ'd...allows for his face turn in 85 anyway. Hogan goes over..its 1985 and its HOGAN, in the companies biggest moment to that date, he HAS to win...
  16. Nash sounding and looking cool / funny on camera and Hogan not have a clue how to act the way his character is supposed to.. VERY funny segment, but Hogan sucks at his character...
  17. HOw to kill a HOT guy due to petty jealousy and want to keep yourself and friends on top over HOT guy in 4 weeks.. See Bill Goldberg from Starrcade 98 to here.
  18. Holy shit, I thought I was the only one that wanted to fucking KILL Bischoff during this segment...His whole commentary the minute the Fingerpoke happened made me wanna jump through the TV and beat his ass... "GEE WILLIKERS....blah blah..." Gee Willikers? Really? and the other dumb shit he says like a moron...FUCK YOU ERIC... THEN he does the ridiculous sound effects with the shock stick and the spraypainting...Man, he actually made a HISTORICALLY BAD moment even worse.... As for the fingerpoke...I always pictured them sitting in the room planning shit out the day of the show and lazily saying "Well, the NWO together beat WWF weekly....why do something different?"

  20. Shawn shouldnt have lost here, but Vader should have been booked better and treated more like a monster...with Shawn winning almost by luck.. Vader stays strong and booked well in Sept / Oct. staying in title contention...Sid wins in Oct, then wins at Survivor Series (how could you NOT have that match and crowd that night?), followed by Vader getting his shot in Dec 1996, and winning...I know its flipping the belt a few times over 2 months, but no different than what they did in early 97....
  21. Off the rebooking Wrestlemania thread, thought I'd throw up an overall Re-booking thread where you take a show that you wish was rebooked and, well, RE-BOOK it!!! First up for me...1995 King Of The Ring. A terrible show in a really bad year for WWF that could have been an REALLY good show with a lot of guys in their prime... This tournament could have had Owen / Davey / HBK / Taker / Razor / Yoko / Two others. I would have done it like this.. Quarterfinals Owen vs. Davey - Go 14:55 and have Owen win Razor vs. Roadie - IC title feud continues. They didnt have an actual title match anyway..Razor wins to get a little revenge on Roadie constantly fucking with Razor in his quest for the IC Title... HBK vs. Kama - HBK wins in a 8 - 9 min affair Taker vs. Yoko - One more time, using their past to build on - Taker wins Semi-Finals Razor vs Owen - Re-match from 1994 Finals. Owen wins again after Jarrett interferes.. HBK vs. Taker - Need I say more? This could be used years later in their 1997 feud. HBK wins by counout Finals HBK vs. Owen - HBK wins the King of The Ring. Again, later in 1995 when Owen injures HBK, this could be a reason he gloats about it as Shawn stole his crown They didnt give the KOR winner the title match at Summerslam yet, so I think this tournament would have been one of the best in ring they could have had, plus, Shawn's push toward #1 guy started in the summer of 1995, so what a perfect spring board.. Bret vs. King match stays the same and the Kiss My Foot match Main Event - Do the Sid vs. Diesel rematch here so we can move on to another feud afterward…The Diesel title reign wasn't doing well anyway…. Thoughts?
