See, I disagree....The Goldberg heel turn was fine...it was what they did afterward... The finished product after months and months could have been Goldberg vs. Steiner at Starrcade 2000 instead of Fall Brawl...And as good as the Fall Brawl match was, having more time to slowly work and Goldberg face again and then go after Steiner could have been fuckin awesome.... Them together for a few months followed by issues and then a fallout...I am thinkin it could have been great...and you could still have the Booker and Steiner stuff in between leading to Steiner winning the Title.... My only issue is that someone has to lose at Starrcade as you cant have a screwjob finish there (this is me talking, not the WCW folks!) and we may miss out on the GREATNESS that was the OCt - Mar 2001 Steiner WCW Title run, which MAY be my favorite "secret obsession" title run EVER...

I think WCW's total misuse of him may have something to do with some people's dislike of him....they really made him look bad.

THanks soo much...I was gonna use the yearbook threads, but I dont know what is and isnt a Heavyweight match in NJPW, as opposed to AJPW where I know the names and can pretty much tell...with NJPW I know some of the names, but not all in terms of "weight class". Also have read how NJPW Heavyweight matches arent their "bread and butter" so to speak, so wasnt sure if they even made the Yearbooks... Will start checking these out so far....even some that arent "top Notch" I'd like to take a look at... It was Dylan's post about NJPW Heavyweights getting a bad rep, but the matches being better than thought that got me curious about this! Thanks,

Stay there, soo close to things picking up....BATB 2000 has its moments....then to New Blood Rising, which gets a little better, and then the uphill climb begins and your enjoyment will return...

I really really think that a heel Goldberg could have been a great thing if done right...he was a sadistic looking killer for the first few times you see him then the debacle will happen and it gets fucked up and he turns face again...but I liked the idea of him being their assassin. You could have still eventually gotten to Steiner vs. Goldberg, but instead, do it at Starrcade for the Title..... I was pretty excited when he first turned heel and cut his first few promos...but didnt he also not want to do it? Once Storm turns heel and starts team Canada, that gets better.. The Thrillers are coming...that isnt bad... I dont know, but to me you are about to hit the "good" (if you wanna call it that) part of 2000 WCW that gets better into 2001 before it dies off....July to the end has some good stuff, minus the 3 Way Clusterfuck with Steiner / Goldberg / Nash, but that could have been good to if Goldberg was kept heel and he and Steiner kicked the shit out of Nash before having some dissention afterward, and starting to build that for the next few months...

He's a legend....but to be really successful in somethign you grew up around and develop it from a good money standpoint at the beginning is not a genius...if it is, then anyone who grew up in their business, took it next and got richer from it is a genius to.... Outside of the genre he knew, and knows WELL...what has he done to be considered an actual Genius? I guess, actually, now I am thinking, that the word genius really can be taken anyway....I really mean he gets WAY too much credit (to me) for not really doing much of success outside of what he was taught to do and saw first hand how to do, and then took that to the next level, with a lot of help cash wise at the start to get moving...

I really dont think he ever did them with Gary....hope I am wrong.

Parv, I am not part of the his own success argument...but my whole point was that everything he's done is around something he grew up with and was familiar with....that isnt a "genius" to me....I think he gets too much credit for doing one thing incredible well and fucking up countless others with money.....

Can someone PLEASE get rid of this girl from media attention? You want to make her hurt? Dont pay attention to her...she'd NEVER be able to handle it...all this bullshit is a cry for attention..and not giving it would ruin her....and that woudl be a good thing. Then, after this (couple years later) we will have to see more bullshit of the "Name the Media Person Here" interview with her as she discusses what bad choices she made and what she's doing to change on some evening show...repeat... I am not saying he's not an amazing force in wrestling and has balls of steel..but I will argue that he will not wear you down with his ethic in whatever he does...Wrestling? OK, he will...Outside of the sport he was born into and built up incredibly? No....he's tried using his force and ethic and has failed over and over in everything outside the WWF/E main product. Even now, he is still trying to prove he can do more, with teh WWE just being initials now as they are an entertainment company and dont want wrestling in their name...but what else entertainment wise have they done that has made a positive mark and you can say "Wow, Vince was able to move into a realm he didnt know all about and got a good hold of it and began to dominate it.." None I can think of... Every example leads back to wrestling. And yes, again, he was and is a "FORCE" in that genre. But being born into it learning about it as he grew and being in the biggest market and getting the best talent early on, giving him a ton of money in which to take chances really helped him to. That is not a "genius" to me...If he didnt have the resources to get all that talent early on, would he have gotten past go? That I dont know, but always wonder about.

YES...I couldnt say it better...I dont understand that dude's fame either...he's not very entertaining...all his music isnt his, its produced by a DJ while he says stupid shit overtop of it...and yes, his sales show the truth...he's not "great". OK, I saw another person on a video call Vince McMahon and "genius"....it bothers me and I am in a hateful mood tonight...so.... We all know what Vince McMahon has done to profesional wrestling through his money, promoting, envelop pushing, etc...., but its not like he took something new and made it into something. He took someting his family had built and made it much much better and all credit to him...he is a legend when it comes to wrestling....that being said... Everything else he's done has failed and pretty much horribly....WBF / IcoPro / XFL / WWE Studios (I know they are still there, but were losing money and have to work with other companies now) / etc..., I dont see that as being a "Genius" He is an amazing man in the field he grew up around and, again, deserves all teh credit in the world...but a "Genius?" A Genius can take a lot of things and make them work, not just take the one you were born into, and using a lot of money to start with and grabbing a shit ton of great talent to make it huge....Even all his marketing and promotional greatness is only effective with WWE... Anyone else agree or disagree??
