  1. Supposedly Paul E used the template of the wrestling school drop out for Mikey Whipreck in ECW.
  2. These guys are so sweaty. They really come across as athletes at their peak.
  3. Atlas is a great stick man in 90.
  4. I thought is was a solid match. We are going to get much more from these guys down the road.
  5. I thought this was a good match. Nothing special or anything. It did turn into a you turn my turn fest.
  6. I really enjoyed this. Both men are masters of schtick. So this is a master class of it.
  7. This is just an amazing main event. The closeup of the pre match instructions was really awesome. Flair was the one who was the leader, but Luger worked really hard. As a side note this was the 1st ppv that I had ever purchased. I was blown away by the main event then, and am still to this day.
  8. I thought this was a total blast and loved the Rock N Roll's shine segment early. Plus Bobby Eaton is a bump freak.
  9. I always remember this theme and the Starcade 88 True Grit!!!! one.
  10. You'd think some of Fuller's greatness would rub off on Lee by osmosis. I'm afraid not.
  11. The Tenryu and Choshu exchanges were awesome. Their interactions just had me mesmerized.
  12. This is a feud I've always wanted to see. I'm really looking forward to see how this plays out on the set.
  13. This is a real good match. It was almost like Flair was trying to have a version of a babyface Flair vs. Steamboat bout where Flair starts working heel late in the bout. Zenk isn't Steamboat so we get a Steamboat light match. Still a good bout showing the greatness of Flair. Flair was great at highlighting what Zenk did well.
  14. Were the Flair/Ronnie Garvin matches well received by the Observer at the time? I know Meltzer wasn't a fan of the Starcade match. I think he gave it 2 1/2*'s. I know for the most part the online community looks back on the matches favorably.
  15. I thought Luger did have a good 3 year run. His heel work to me was his highlight. In 91 his character was done well, but again people wanted Flair. It also didn 't help that he was switched from face to heel abruptly, thus he had no real opponents set up for him except Sting. Windham same problem as Luger, quick turn. Simmons not ready, Rick Steiner not ready. Steamboat doesn't show up till late 91. We know they could have had a hot feud. The sting match came to late in the game.
  16. I've seen ACH working indies in Austin since like 2009. How he is qualifies is nuts.
  17. Dusty on Prime was great. I remember one time he was comparing someone to Backlund. When he is putting Backlund over you realize that he realizes he just put a WWF wrestler on a WCW show.

  20. I liked this a little better than Loss. It kinda felt like a Flair match on speed. I thought Vince on commentary did a good job making the match even more exciting than it was. 93 really was a strong year work wise for Marty. The opening 6 minutes of this was really awesome. I totally loved HBK taking a shoulder bump into the corner, and Jannetty following up with an arm drag. Then he proceeded to work some spots around the arm, just really cool stuff.
  21. I went to comic-con a few weeks back here in Austin and sat in the CM Punk Q&A. For starters it was only scheduled for 30 minutes. The man went for 1 hr and 15 minutes. He answered every ones question. The moderator was like we have time for 2 more questions. Punk was like nah, I have the time let's knock out the whole line. Their must have been 20 or 30 more people in the line. I thought that was cool of him. He came across as a huge fan of wrestling. He was funny, articulate, pushed his DVD,and potential feud with Austin. A total student of the game. He was a fan of Buck Robley which I thought was great and actually ties into his ugly yellow ass shirt . Overall, it was a great time, and Punk was great.
  22. I prefer the match the next day. So here is my write up of that one when I was on the SMW committee to help pick matches for the SMW set. This is a 60 minute Marathon match between 2 awesome teams and we get another awesome bout between these 2 teams. The 1st fall starts off fast and furious and the RNR get the duke with the double dropkick off the Bodies miscue. This lasted all of a minute and is right out of Mx/RNRoll playbook. They used it a lot when the MX had the belts and were in a 2 out of 3 fall bout making the fans believe he was going to win the belts. It was the same here with the Bodies and RNR. The 2nd fall was just some great old school tag team wrestling. We have the Rock N Roll working working over both of the Bodies arms. Plus the RNR was fake tagging behind the refs back which got over great with the crowd. Eventually the Bodies would take the advantage with some timely Cornette's interference. I must say the timing and execution of Cornette tripping up Morton was so damn smooth. Then again they have done this spot a million times. The heels worked over Morton for a while. Eventually, Morton would make the hot tag to Gibson and he goes wild. Eventually though he would fall victim to Cornette's racket to his back and drops the fall. This fall was great and went about 30 minutes. The 3rd fall had the Bodies working over Gibson's back with some real fun back work. We also get the Gibson bump over the top rope where he does more damage to the back. Eventually we get the hot tag to Morton and he goes wild. In the melee Morton caught a tennis racket shot for the finish. The 4th fall went about 7 minutes and leads to another Cornette racket shot to Morton, but instead of helping his team it backfires and Morton falls on one of the Bodies for a fall for the Rock N Roll. The 5th fall was short and the finish was a tad corny no pun intended that I didn't like like but the crowd dug it enough by the one fan yelling he cheated he got extra air. Cornette ran out for the finish with an oxygen mask for Dr. Tom. This lead to another Cornette racket finish. Eventually time ran out and the crowd seemed legit hot at the Bodies for cheating with the extra air. Final Thoughts: I really liked this bout. They have another one on 3/12 that I need to check out. The guys told a story in each fall. The psychology of the bout was great. The guys just worked and had a great bout. On the Steamboat DVD on his commentary he said the most important thing about going an hour is keeping the crowd. Both teams did that in spades here. I liked how all of Cornette's interference was a build up to the 4/1/94 LLT cage match between the teams. Some things I didn't like was the finish to the last fall. I thought it was cheesy, but for the most part the audience bought it and that's all that matters. I also would have like the Rock n Roll to go over a bit stronger in the 4th fall. Overall though this is some good shit and you should go out of your way to see it. This is wrestling how it used to be and how I like it. I understand Dylan's point of how the Bodies looked weak with not winning one fall w/o cheating. As a stand alone bout I get that. Though in the grand scheme of things they are building to a LLT cage bout between the teams for the big show on 4/1/94. So the cheating in the bouts lead to the cage bout stip. Also I'm a mark for 60 minute bouts.
  23. I don't feel like going through the DVDVR thread to find them, could you please list a top 10 Demolition matches. Since Victator you are speaking in absolutes. I would love to see what you ABSOLUTELY feel are Demolitions top 10 matches. If you feel that Rocker match is in it so be it. The Rockers had better matches with Rose and Somers , Tully and Arn, Hart Foundation, Adonis/Orton, Orient Express before I would rate that Rockers MSG match which I would have in a top 10 matches of Demolition of all time.
