  1. It's a good channel, the quality doesn't translate well on youtube but it's watchable. A Nice mix of older stuff when he uploads, I've had it as a fav for a while and it's always good for something interesting.
  2. Ah yes. I have that on a disc called "The Tommy Rich Story". I can't remember if it's complete or not: 4018 SCW Presents The Tommy Rich Story 90 min VG+/EX- A kayfabed interview/match retrospective on Tommy Rich in the Southern Championship Wrestling area, with studio interviews with Rich included. Angles and matches include Rich reacts after Scott Armstrong is voted Most Popular Wrestler, Tommy Rich vs. Joel Deaton (loser gets ten lashes), Tommy & Johnny Rich Vs. Jamie Kyle & John Michaels (confro. w/Ranger Ross & Wrestling II), Jerry Lawler Int. for SCW as AWA Champion on upcoming bout with Tommy Rich (includes Highlights of Hair match in the cage in Memphis between Idol and Lawler), The Bullet (SCW Champion) vs. Tommy Rich, Rich interview with new Biker friends, Jerry Lawler (AWA World Champion) vs. Tommy Rich, Bruiser Brody & Tommy Rich Vs. Doug Somers & The Executioner
  3. Is that Lawler-Rich match you speak of the one where Tommy has some biker friends at ringside, for the AWA title?

    Dan Kroffat

Puerto Rico Kroffat was a different guy, no? I saw him live many times in Thunder Bay on the International Montreal circuit in 86-87. Very impressive live in comparison to the rest of the crew, who were more apt to be built for brawling and mat matches (Gilles Poisson, Steve Strong, Abdullah, Ayala, Brito Jr., Etc.). Was billed as a local as he was apparently born in a small town just outside of here. I couldn't have envisioned him going to Japan and doing as well as he did there, much in the same way it's hard to look at Doug Furnas when he debuted in Continental and think of him being a big deal later on. Sometimes something clicks, and kudos to the folks that suggested those guys get together and make a tag team.
  6. I honestly don't think you could have had a hotter reaction to that title change even with a longer build. It was such a seismic shift in the style of title matches that they had seen from Backlund and his challengers for six years that the sheer brute force of Hogan's win and the brevity of the match added a ton to the title changing hands. It was against what the fans were used to and probably expecting in terms of a title match, and it going in favor of the new face on the block was probably as apex a launching point as was possible.
  7. I dunno, I get what they were going for but whenever a pin happens the bell is usually rung SO quickly after that no bell to the guy on top should be a quick tell he didn’t get the three count. I’ve seen it done where it works ok and where it doesn’t work at all. Doesn’t bug me to be honest.
  8. Not nearly the same, I believe. Hogan losing was something that *could* have happened in a match vs warrior, strictly on the face bs face dynamic. For the many that wanted Hogan to lose the title so badly, that was a huge carrot. Warrior beating Savage would have been well received but not nearly as well, IMO.
  9. Thanks for those, I had no idea they existed online.
  10. Well the "common" online collection for 1984 has newsletters from January, March, April, May, June, and September in it. Dave may have been on a Dave-like publishing schedule, or there are gaps. At least with what I have, my collection could be outdated as I've had it for better than a decade.
  11. Indeed the Samoans vs Soul Patrol match isn't there from March.
  12. Here is what I have from both cards put together by Landy, which likely means that unless he found more since I got them, this is what is out there now: 4420 Landy’s WWF House Shows: MSG New York March 25th 1984 40 min VG/EX- SD Jones vs. Rene Goulet Akira Maeda vs. Pierre Lefebrve Sgt. Slaughter vs. Mr Fuji & Tiger Chung Lee (Handicap match) Andre the Giant & Jimmy Snuka vs. Roddy Piper & David Schultz. 6866 Landy’s House Shows: MSG New York 5/21/84 80 min VG/EX- -Jesse Ventura vs. Salvatore Bellomo - Mr. Fuji & Tiger Chung Lee vs. B. Brian Blair & Tony Garea (JIP) -Roddy Piper vs. Ivan Putski -Tito Santana (IC Champion) vs. Paul Orndorff -Sgt. Slaughter vs. Iron Sheik (Boot Camp Match) -Fabulous Moolah (Women’s Champion) vs. Wendi Richter -Kal Rudman interviews Moolah post-match - George Steele vs. Terry Daniels -Hulk Hogan (WWF Champion) vs. David Schultz **MISSING Wild Samoans vs. Bobo Brazil/Rocky Johnson/SD Jones** **MISSING Jimmy Snuka vs. Greg Valentine** **MISSING Akira Maeda vs. Rene Goulet**
  13. Nice. Landy put together what he could from both of those shows but if the missing stuff is included that will be excellent.
  14. Well Fuck. :( RIP.
  15. Many thanks for the shout out on the Dog set. I’m glad it’s been enjoyed that much. Mad Dog would be on a lot of lists if we had a decent amount of footage from the 60s and 70s of him. The feud between him and the Crusher is beyond legendary in AWA circles but we unfortunately have very little of it. There’s a title match vs. Verne from Montreal out there but privately held that’s supposed to be really good and would likely help showcase their famous feud from the 60s and 70s, as most of what we have is those two on the same side of the ledger. Vachon is definitely a case of “we need more video”, as a lot of his best stuff just isn’t out there. Which is a real shame.
  16. A good bunch of full-length Bockwinkel matches from Houston surfaced when the NWA on Demand channel was running. Those are out there too. The Houston matches would be Bockwinkel vs. Ricky Morton, Tony Atlas, Tito Santana, Junkyard Dog (more than one), Dusty Rhodes, Bruiser Brody, Dick Slater, and Chavo Guerrero. There may be others I am forgetting and a couple of those have been out there previously, but not in the restored quality that the NWA on Demand channel had.
  17. I get it, thanks for the clarification. I've always collected AWA first and foremost, which I guess put me in a bubble with it...being an active seeker of footage, I didn't have any reason to believe it was harder to acquire than the other territories was.
  18. Setting aside the “boring old white guy” stuff, is the AWA footage seriously considered the least accessible? If so I’d assume we are talking about pre-1980 material, which I would think was a common issue with a lot of territory footage being out there for our consumption.
  19. I’m sure there is lots of Bock footage noted and linked in this thread already, but When I have time I’ll post lists of available video of his here. I’m a long time Bockwinkel (and AWA) enthusiast as a lot of you already know, and growing up with Bock as the centrepiece of my territory was awesome.
  20. The drop kick Jim Brunzell lands on Tito Santana to win the high flyers - strike force matchup from St. Paul in 1982 is a fantastic, hard hitting ending to an action packed, back and forth scientific encounter. Having a definitive winner in a face vs face match is always a nice bonus in old school matches, and an ending like that really punctuated the match as a great one for me.

    Rick Martel

    Seconded.

    Rick Martel

There have been a few Martel handhelds come available in the last few years as I recall. Not so sure there's been much more AWA material, with the exception of some complete matches from the AWA Christmas shows the network dropped a couple years back. Martel vs. Bobby Heenan from 1982, vs. Superstar Graham from 1983, and a title defense against Jim Garvin from 1984. Also I think the 4/19/85 meadowlands match vs. King Tonga is complete from the network (can't recall if it was complete before), as is his title loss to Hansen on 12/29/85. I swore there was a fuller Schultz vs. Martel match available too but I may have dreamt that.
  23. Here is the gofundme information, as posted on another board I frequent which he wants shared in as many places as possible: *** From Qaenos: "The kickstarter has started. We only have 30 days to raise the funds needed to complete this restoration. To get DVDs, Blu-rays or MP4s of the complete set of restored footage, please back the project at:" http://kck.st/3cYVugQ
