  1. If that's the case maybe this is a good time to mention that a Greg Gagne vs Ric Flair match apparently exists on film too. (true story, its supposed to be a Gratchner film, a guy I used to deal with before he disappeared said he had it...Normally I would write that off as bs since he vanished but from the same guy I got a gratchner film copy of Jim Brunzell vs. Greg Gagne, which many AWA people swore up and down never happened, so I believe he actually had that other match as well.) Not that the WWE Network has the Gratchner films in their possession...but I never thought they would have the cereal convention tape either. I would have guessed that the cereal company would have owned such footage lock stock and barrel. Fortunately that wasn't the case.
  2. OMG. That is ridiculously unbelievable. We need a blitz of "I wish they'd find backlund vs. Bockwinkel from Toronto" posts and see if they put it up next. :) lol
  3. Are you fucking kidding me???! holy shit
  4. Too bad, it was worth a shot.

I did have this on one of my Bob Luce film comps. There is so much good stuff in the Luce films, and if they are editing Luce's commentary out of it, more people will stick around to enjoy it. Very polarizing commentator, lol. I didn't mind him so much but I look forward seeing the footage without it.

...although Ladd and Thomas as a team doesn't ring a bell with me off the top of my head.

That outlaw match is probably Luce film so it is likely out there but I'll have to check my listings.
  8. Someone should contact Tony DeLacosta about the MTV footage. He has an impressive collection of MTV original broadcasts and blocks and if anyone has it, it's probably him. flair-Hansen existing would be awesome. I remember one of the mags covering that bout back in the day.
  9. The ending of flairs first title win is available. The whole match would be great though. ...also backlund in his book claimed that his match vs flair was not taped via mutual agreement between the NWA and WWF, however I would bet it was actually taped like LBOA was. If it was it'll be available out of the vault someday I am sure.
  10. I'm not looking back in the thread and I may have posted about this previously in this thread, but I became aware of the existence of AWA guys wrestling a paid show at a Cereal convention circa 1988-89. The wrestlers had names given to them of cereal mascots of the day (Greg Gagne introduced as "Captain Crunch" for example). I had a line on the tape but the guy I was discussing it with worked there and it would have been a possible get-fired risk had he sent me the tape, so he didn't end up doing it. I lost track of him years ago, but knowing the tape exists makes me hope it somehow gets out someday.

The clip from the doc that used the Pantas footage is dated 9/18/80, from the Scope. Not to say that they used all that footage in the bonus features of the doc, I am sure they didn't.
  12. I have not seen the promo yet and I can't guess. Flair in the 80-83 time frame Seems oddly out of place. Flair defended in Chicago but not until 1985 and he did Winnipeg vs Bock in 86. Pro wrestling USA didn't start until Gene was gone from the AWA. EDIT: perhaps something that never aired that gene was doing for St. Louis. Or perhaps Houston...one of those two markets where AWA and NWA coexisted and they could have crossed paths. Might have been something just for fun committed to tape that got saved. Really looking forward to seeing that promo now...

Perhaps. I am more hoping they are organizing arena footage into their proper cards as opposed to a tv dump, which without interviews will be pretty tedious save for the odd show with an angle included.

Stevens vs Robinson we only have a partial as I recall so if it's complete or near complete that would be great.

Yeah, that's the thing. ESPN retained use of the footage and TSN may or may not have done the same. I'm not completely sure how that worked in conjunction with the library sale.

    WWE Hidden Gems

They may. It depends on the Winnipeg footage and if it was sold to Vince along with the library. I'm not sure how that works with TSN having it as an exclusive program. I don't doubt it was filmed completely and the appearance of the Andre-Bock match from Winnipeg on the network encourages me that they have the other Winnipeg material too, but who knows? that match could have been acquired in another library, sent out to promote Andre or Bock someplace. Sort of like the AWA TV squashes with Bock appeared on the Houston on demand progams since Verne sent it to Houston for Bock et al to use on TV promoting Bock coming in.

Rick had Hansen in a few times while he was in Montreal with the AWA title and even pinned him in a non title match. Being finished in the AWA-proper was likely a mutual agreement that it was just time to make a switch. He was, as noted, in for a few big shows and did have some rematches in a few places (notably the 1-16-86 Winnipeg show with Flair vs. Bockwinkel on it, the last AWA show in Winnipeg).

Wow that's awesome. Gagne vs Hennig has been available JIP and a very brief clip of nord vs soldat too but none of the rest I believe. Amazing.

I thought we had more, but maybe I'm thinking of the raw footage. Sounds really sweet

Martel vs Garvin I believe is out there at least in part. Some of The other matches have raw footage clips available from them and news clips, but not whole or partial ones shot for tv. Awesome

The main event and bits of Martel vs Graham are out there, the rest is not, save for a few highlights from the news. Awesome

Curt Hennig refereed the 1982 bout that is already available on video. I doubt he reffed the 1981 bout as well, so that is likely the tell for which year we are looking at. You are likely correct about only Bock vs. Billy being available before now although the Raschke-Goulet match may be the exception. There are a couple of their bouts out there and if they were dated wrong it could already have been released. But I would guess it too is likely new.

The 1987 match is new as far as I can remember. the title change occurred in haste at the Vegas show which was a couple of nights later. The cage match and the whole Brawl in St. Paul show from 1986 Christmas have appeared on either 24/7 or the Network before.
