  1. Watched this yesterday, and one thing stuck out. Dusty makes reference to the camera crew a few times, and says that "the truck is rockin' tonight". You almost never hear anything to this effect on WWE programming. Past or present. Only time I can think of is in the '92 Rumble when Bobby talks about the (genuinely) good camera work.
  2. He's in a book about the day John Lennon was killed, written by Keith Elliot Greenberg (who's written several WWE books in the past). Rick talked about working MSG that night, and that once he found out the news he knew that he was having his match at the time Lennon was shot. Afa told him the news and Rick sat at the bar with the heels and some fans, watching the news.
  3. Now you got me thinking as to other years after they could have done this 91: Flair and The Nasty Boys vs. Jim Duggan, Sgt. Slaughter, Tito Santana, Kerry Von Erich, Big Bossman and LOD. Not exactly much opportunity for a FIP spot. 93: All the face teams won that year, actually. Not sure how you could split it up. 94: Razor Ramon vs. Bam Bam Bigelow, King Kong Bundy, Jerry Lawler and his midgets. 95: In looking at the card, what would make the most sense is Shawn Michaels, Ahmed Johnson, British Bulldog & 123 Kid vs. Undertaker, Savio Vega, Fatu & Henry Godwinn. 96: Again, all faces survived that year. Would have been interesting to put Rock in a situation where him and another face were against a whole team with him coming out strong at the end. Could have squashed some of the heat that would come his way later.
  4. Plus I would imagine this (and Backlund getting inducted, too) will get some decent press in the NYC sports media as well, leading up to it.
  5. He worked more in the Midwest and West Coast, when he wasn't with McMahon right?
  6. The misogynist guy he was in WWE before he left for WCW was the low point of the Attitude Era for me.
  7. I don't think they even show the truncated version on USA now, last year they just had it on the WM DVD.
  8. Dammit, wish I'd seen it now.
  9. This is going to be a big coup for their PR if they milk this the right way. Bruno's comments on the Wellness Program particularly.
  10. That's a no-brainer. Reading the article, it makes the most sense. Unless they can attract someone like Zbyszko or Graham to do it, Paul seems the obvious choice. And frankly, he kind of deserves that much for essentially making this happen.
  11. Here's the ESPN article.
  12. Scott going after Flair like he did on Nitro put me off him forever. His match with HHH at the Royal Rumble during his WWE run was like watching a sweaty train wreck. Dude was a better tag team guy.
  13. For what it's worth, having Warrior in red, white and blue makeup really felt against character.
  14. It makes sense to me. Bischoff offering himself up for the powerbomb to make people look away from him. Taking one for the team.
  15. Weird that Brian appeared at this one alone, Sags (Heenan: It's Sags of The Nasty Boys!) in '92, and both of them in '93 even though they're never in the ring at the same time.
  16. When did he get his hair cut?
  17. I'd like to think the money in Bad News' hand is because Ted paid him extra to actually stick with the match. In Survivor Series matches previous to this one, he would storm out and be counted out eventually. With the continuity they had on angles then, I'd believe they would go with that.
  18. Well, the punishment was it's own reward to Martel and Valentine that year. Any Rumble they participated in after, it would usually be mentioned how well they did that year.
  19. I never liked that stipulation. I understood it when they did the matches with the tag teams at the first Survivor Series', the matches would have lasted 90 minutes a piece otherwise.
  20. Did he ever have another match in North America after Toronto?
  21. It's amazing how much he slimmed down from when he started to when he was damn near catching up with Hennig in their WrestleMania match. Has anyone seen the squash match he was in against Tully Blanchard that impressed Dusty so much that he gave him the Big Bubba gimmick and the rest is history?
  22. Flair, in his shoot interview and I'm guessing his book, said that he was dealing with anxiety and depression issues around this time, so it'd be no surprise that he'll have a lot of off-nights in this yearbook until he's up north.
  23. I love this idea.
  24. In one of the Observer threads here, it said that the company was originally going to have Randy have a feud with Ted in '91 instead of Jake but Randy nixed it. That would have been a pretty good top-level feud for him before Money Inc.
