New Truly Independent ECW Documentary

Sounds like a distribution thing to me. -
[1991-02-16-WWF-Superstars] The Dragon vignette

Probably Vince still pissed off about how he left before. -

I loved those almanacs too. Bravo John for your work on the timelines, those were especially entertaining to read. -
The Pledge of Allegiance thing is a nice call-back to something Slaughter did himself during his feud with Sheiky Baby way back when.

[1991-03-24-WWF-Wrestlemania VII] Randy Savage vs Ultimate Warrior
flyonthewall2983 replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
I love the video packages they did back then. No music, no hyper-fast editing of segments, just everything that happened up to then. -
I should mention I know there's no way in hell WWE would do what I suggested, just that I'd like to see someone else try that approach.

[1990-07-07-WWC-Anniversario] Abdullah the Butcher vs Zeus
flyonthewall2983 replied to Loss's topic in July 1990
I can imagine why Zeus was a hit in Puerto Rico. Roughly the same reasoning I think they might view No Holds Barred as akin to a tragedy. -
I'd like to see a promotion where the creative head is someone who worked on episodic television, but has a deep knowledge and appreciation of pro wrestling. Something like an equivalent of the great cable series' we've been since the days of The Sopranos and The Shield, to WWE's stock network show. In an era of entertainment where comic book movies are getting serious critical praise on top of serious box office, there's no real reason (other than Vince's ignorance) professional wrestling could follow suit and give the world great television on top of great wrestling.

Shane Douglas got it right by saying he's an asshole, but in no way denying his ability and influence as a worker.

One thing I heard is that Kevin was a potential guy to beat Sheik in case it didn't pan out with Hogan.

I wonder what will be different about these releases compared to the previous set of DVD's. I was really hoping they'd do a Blu-ray box set. -

I missed Raw, what did he say?

I honestly believe Bruno is going to outlive Vince. -
Chris, Nancy, & Daniel Benoit found dead
flyonthewall2983 replied to Bix's topic in Megathread archive
That's being optimistic that there would even be a WWE 15-20 years from that point. Are you thinking that advertisers would have dumped WWE en masse? Possibly. And if Benoit had shown up to the PPV that night as just speculated, and it would have been revealed later on that he went on to perform after murdering his family? Most certainly. -

I wonder what would happen if Chris didn't kill himself, and turned himself in, or worse, evading capture and becoming a fugitive. I'd imagine WWE would have found themselves in a more dire PR nightmare than what ultimately happened. I can imagine the response from the IWC would be equally as disgusting, if not more so. I watched something about the day of the OJ Bronco chase, featuring the news coverage of it as it happened. People at that time were equally in denial about that as some of the examples cited already. -

How did the whole carbon monoxide angle to this come up? -

No. As he's done for years he poured water over his head when doing his entrance. Unlike in previous years, he no longer has any hair to soak up the water, and so it ran down his back and left an unfortunately located patch: That's hilarious -
I remember when I first saw him in '92, and was scared to see him take the mask off. Between him and Papa Shango, WWF knew how to freak out little kids good that year.

Goldberg for me, and I like Sid. I went to a live Nitro when Bill was just getting hot in January '98. That was the highlight of that show for me.

Didn't Lawler use any during his brief run awhile back?

How many other guys of Cena's age and build could have pulled it off better than him?

Fair enough. I rethought the "ugh" as soon as I posted, because I figured this would actually be quite interesting given the Beck situation.
