  1. I also believed it when Cena said he was going to go into his match with Rock as WWE champ.
  2. Yeah, but Punk's streak against "the" streak is a great idea. I hope that's what happens. I'm predicting Rock/Brock for WM, with Brock interfering in tomorrow's match.
  3. I didn't realize people moved that quickly from WWF to WCW back then. I'm guessing Dusty (Dustin too, maybe) didn't even leave Florida between the Rumble and then.
  4. Was Marty injured? I noticed the tape on his ribs, and that neither Gorilla or Hillbilly Jim mentioned it. More impressive if you consider the airtime he gets in this one.
  5. I wonder how this would have played out if the war was as long as the 2nd time with Iraq was. Ending as early as it did (I think it was already done by the time WM 7 came around) gave a good out for the Slaughter character to turn back babyface like he did.
  6. Piper really sells it in the broadcast booth, foreshadowing his involvement in the angle.
  7. I liked this Rumble match overall. You had some interesting face-off's that wouldn't have happened anytime else (LOD eliminating Undertaker collectively was a nice spot), as with every Rumble. Both Martel and Greg Valentine had good showings here as well. The one real negative is that Randy Savage no-showed.
  8. Weird they would do something like that towards the end of the character's run. Feels like something they'd do more towards the beginning to get him over.
  9. The interesting thing about all this is is that Percy Pringle credits Rude for getting him a meeting with Vince and J.J. Dillon that ultimately led to the Paul Bearer gig.
  10. The cool thing about it would have been seeing him work against guys like Meng or John Tenta around that time.
  11. Probably the only time a genuine A-lister (at the time) was ever noted at one of these things. That aside, the Jake promo is probably one of the best things he's ever done. The match was okay, probably most notable for me was when the crowd did the wave.
  12. Bobby Heenan had a funny story about MTM being obsessed with Barbarian's outfit. I'd imagine since she paid for a ticket, they didn't want to hype her appearance if at all so she wouldn't be bothered. Like when they were in Los Angeles some years back and Billy Corgan and a few other b or c-list celebs were in the audience.
  13. How it's better (in the eyes of 1991 PWI readers) than Bret/Perfect is a bit beyond me.
  14. Why the Luger/Sting match got PWI's MOTY is beyond me.
  15. I'd never call John a slob.
  16. Wonder if WWE will reference this in some way with the reboot coming out next year.
  17. It's going to sound terrible coming from me, but I think it was either the 2003 or 2004 when they had both Heyman and Bischoff out as people were being drafted from brand to brand. The single funniest line I'd ever heard on WWE since Heenan left was when Paul said "I liked it better when you were blind" to a girl that was drafted over to Raw (can't remember her name but I know she did an angle where she was blinded and now miraculously wasn't).
  18. Surely that match happened somewhere, even if it never made tape. It was a PWI Runner Up for Match of the Year in 1976. Here are pictures of it. .
  19. You can be disqualified for beating up a manager?
  20. Is the Kerry Von Erich ET special on the 93 yearbook? I seem to recall them doing a segment on him after he died.
  21. The Roma match is definitely from '88. The Wrestling Challenge banner is different from the one they used in '90.
  22. I watched one of the UWFI tags once. It's too bad they never faced each other.
