Think this in the wrong thread.

I don't see his family signing off on it. I have a feeling they'll get someone really low on the D list, to counteract the star power Batista will bring to the event. Either Bam Bam or Vader for the posthumous spot. I say it every year but I'd like to see Haku get in. Maybe Tommy Dreamer (is he still with WWE?) or one of the ECW originals. Drawing a blank on the lady wrestler/valet they'll put in, I can't even remember who last year's was. Same for tag teams, as the most obvious ones might not have a good chance unless Demolition and others mends the fences. Powers of Pain would be a cool choice.

How much box office did Lawler rake in that year?
-
HBK and Hunter (though he'll likely put Batista in) inducting NWO would be cool. I think Hall and Nash should have done the honors for DX last year. Nobody did, they just came out to their music and got on with it. Maybe the same this year. I think everybody NWO should be in.

Batista and the NWO (Hall, Nash, Hogan, Waltman) were announced this morning as being the first inductees of the 2020 class.

To my surprise they added more episodes from 1993 up to the one the night before Slamboree. And they kept in the theme music.

The Arn Anderson podcast
flyonthewall2983 replied to The Thread Killer's topic in Publications and Podcasts
It confirmed that the only time him and Tully faced the Bulldogs was at that Survivor Series match. I also didn't know that their first WWF match was where the whole shenanigans between the Bulldogs and Rougeaus took place. It's too bad the Brainbusters didn't work some of the heel teams they had at the time, I'm particularly thinking of the Rougeaus who they would have matched up perfectly with. -
Me and my brother had Hogan, Warrior, Beefcake, and Bossman from that group. Macho King, Bushwhackers, Rockers, Tatanka, Owen Hart, Jim Neidhart, Mountie, Rick Martel, El Matador were the other Hasbros. Had the ring, of course. And had the Hogan talking doll which sounds much less audible now than the one they used in the show.

It's so brief I forgot he was even in it. I bet the guy who named himself "Jewish Lightning" would be good for a shoot interview or podcast about his time as a fan and dealing with both companies. I either forgot or just never knew that ECW (annoyingly referred to as "Eastern Championship Wrestling" on the show) had a line of their own. They even did commercials.

Watched this last night. Admittedly I have not seen the other episodes so I went into the series cold by going straight to this. Funny intro, annoying voice-over guy, silly editing and overall a childish approach which I guess is appropriate. It gives the briefest overview of wrestling's popularity before settling in during the Rock & Wrestling era, and the first WWF toys. Someone referred to those big bulky things as dog toys which made me laugh. I recognized Cody Rhodes (who only has one line in the whole thing), Justin Roberts and that's it. Zack Ryder was interviewed and his collection was shown off, but his stuff didn't make the cut.

Probably harder to determine a bad AA match than a good one.

The Cancellation of Jim Cornette
flyonthewall2983 replied to fakeplastictrees's topic in Pro Wrestling
No matter how out of step he gets, or how many times people 'cancel' him, we need his perspective. If just to provide a balance and a sense of history to everything, he's maybe better at it than someone like Meltzer who has always been on the sidelines, no matter how close he got he was never in it. -
Sean Oliver's Kayfabe Podcast
flyonthewall2983 replied to The Thread Killer's topic in Publications and Podcasts
He had a non-wrestling guest this week, name escapes me but he wrote a book about Miami in the Cocaine Cowboys days. I like the idea of him mixing it up a bit and not being a purely wrestling show, because as I said this format is perfect for his conversational style. -

If it's true, and forgetting about everything else for a moment, but Vince showed some real balls by cutting off the feed. -
The Arn Anderson podcast
flyonthewall2983 replied to The Thread Killer's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Today's episode is about his neck injuries and retirement, including the NWO parody of his retirement speech and all of the fallout from that. -
Edi Patterson on HBO's The Righteous Gemstones would be a perfect model for a Sherri/Sunny-type female valet character today.

Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard

I think my favorite quote from the show's entirety (from what I have heard at least) is when talking about how brave TNA was for going head-to-head on Monday nights, that "he respects the balls". It's actually him repeating what Conrad says first, but the exchange is like something out of Seinfeld. -

The Arn Anderson podcast

Schiovane had a good quote about it on his show, saying that for it to be successful we need to hear Marty Lunde come through. That's true of any podcast, of at least this kind where there isn't guest at all, that it's important that you hear the real person instead of a carefully constructed persona be it through the media or in this case a line of work where character is so important, even if it's not entirely true to the person playing it. I'm way behind on Conrad's stuff, haven't listened to Bruce's show since spring basically and only listened to a few that he did with JR, but will probably jump back in soon. Echoing Tony's sentiment I hope it is successful but I hope there is more out of Arn here than I saw in his RF shoot, where he goes between being pretty forthright and also sticking to kayfabe to a degree as well. -
His recent interview with Big Show is pretty good, talking a lot about him growing up and his new Netflix show.

Enjoyed the Conrad interview. For someone who probes the minds of a few professional bullshitters for a living, he seems to be as straight-forward and honest of himself as they may seem crooked. I also listened to Oliver's intro and while I understand his concerns about the podcast format, I think his conversational style will translate well for him if he keeps at it. -
Who is more important for pro wrestling history?
flyonthewall2983 replied to yesdanielbryan's topic in Pro Wrestling
The crossover from winning an Olympic gold medal (with a broken freakin' neck) It's definitely a tough choice given all of what Jericho has done, but I have always found Angle more compelling to watch. Not just in the ring but in those skits. He pulled off looking like a clown without softening his image.
