83 Weeks with Eric Bischoff
flyonthewall2983 replied to flyonthewall2983's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Bret Hart is the subject of next week's show, which should be interesting given Bret's recent comments about Eric. -

I like Booker T. He reminds me a lot of Dusty on WCW Saturday Night. -
Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard

I liked the episode too, and I could tell from previous episodes that both Bruce and Conrad had been wanting to do a show on him for awhile. He was a great performer and underrated as a worker, and overall a value to the company. Looking back, it's kind of sad how WCW didn't know what to do with him after being forced to change his gimmick. They had the same thing with John Tenta. They had these amazing talents that were ultimately squandered. I guarantee you nobody here hates the Attitude Era more than me but even I have to say that despite how much bad taste permeated the Al Snow and Big Show angles, that Boss Man was committed enough in his role as the heel that in retrospect I can't help but be impressed by that alone. I'm surprised they didn't bring this up -
The Ron Fuller Podcast (Studcast)
flyonthewall2983 replied to Matt D's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Some of these podcasts are pretty long, so I would see the need for it that way. I've actually tried it out on a few apps and it isn't like they sound unintelligible either. You can make out what they are saying but it just goes by pretty fast. -
Have to admit I have not watched much of it, but I love that intro for the show from 79 on. Very retro sports-y type feel to it.

What's the general opinion on his account of lightning deflecting off of his umbrella and killing the guy standing next to him? I watched the promo from 2005 when he mentioned this, Googled it and found this more recent account of the event, which he said happened in the 70's, whereas in the promo he specifically said 1981. It's completely trivial but I don't think I've ever heard this tid-bit of his life discussed online.

83 Weeks with Eric Bischoff
flyonthewall2983 replied to flyonthewall2983's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Looking back it makes a lot of sense that the third man had to already be someone who had been in the company for awhile, and not just another new guy they picked up from the WWF. Having Hall and Nash come in virtually at the same time is what really set the angle in motion, and outside of maybe Bret there was not another bigger name even coming close to them on the fence. And Bischoff said he didn't even talk to Bret until two months after the BATB show (which I believe is corroborated in Bret's book). -

This is doing very well on iTunes, nearly topping the overall podcast charts which is unheard of for a wrestling show. -
WWE Network News confirmed that the show is coming, one week from today.

It's going to be Sunday Night Heat. Nothing specifically about what's going up, just when (next Monday).

I glanced at the news, but Bischoff announced that he's doing a show of his own on Twitch, the day after each episode of this airs as like some sort of post-show explanation. Not interested in it one iota since it's clear to me he's going to spin whatever might come out between him and Conrad every Monday. -
Putting all the big elephants in the room aside for a moment, this show kind of took me back to when they started PPV's earlier in the day. It's something that could benefit these long marathons now, certainly.

I guess I don't mind their Trump support as much because they have a lot to lose if they outwardly flaunt that support, and they know it. I can appreciate why this show made some of you feel this way, but I'm of the mind that there are bigger fish to fry in the world right now.

Cause of death was revealed as organ failure due to heart issues stemming from the rheumatic fever he acquired at 12 years old. People with those issues aren't expected to live past 60. Puts it all in a new light. Imagine if he never had that fever he could very well have lived past 100 without those conditions.

Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard
flyonthewall2983 replied to Lust Hogan's topic in Publications and Podcasts
I listened to it on the YouTube app on my phone, while watching the Network version. My one complaint is that it goes into unrelated stuff quite often, especially during the Rumble match itself. But there are some solidly funny moments, and at a few points a nice glimpse into their personal chemistry too which was cool. -

This sounds like fun -
The show itself was broadcast on HBO and is otherwise notable for being Ric Flair's first match at MSG (which was on his first DVD). I don't know if it ever aired on WWE's pre-Network on-demand services, though.

Just finished the doc. First time seeing a lot of this footage, especially Hansen breaking his neck. You can even tell in Stan's body language when he did it that he knew he fucked up that slam.
