Heavenly Bodies vs Steiners from Summerslam 93 is great. One of my favorite matches from 1993.

I wouldn't really describe 1999 WWF as kid-unfriendly. It had breasts and lots of swearing. Kids want to see that kind of stuff. I feel like Vince Russo's sense of humor would appeal more to kids than it would to adults.1999 WWF was more parent-unfriendly than kid-unfriendly, and I don't know how many parents barred their kids from watching. It was appealing to young teenagers and young immature adults, but I don't think an 8 years old would get a kick out of saying "suck it" while pointing to his crotch, or would want to see Debra's "puppies". Russo's booking was juvenile, but had nothing appealing to childhood, at least from my standpoint. They love Steve Austin and the Undertaker.

Heh, now i'm curious for you to exspand on this. What do the youth of today think of the likes of Daniel Bryan and The Rock and Punk and Cody Rhodes and uhhh Primo and whoever else is around? Kids these days like that Michael Cole fella? My nephews love Cena, Rey, Rock, Big Show, Taker and Kane. Thanks to Netflix they love JYD, Hulk Hogan and Austin. He says him and his friends argue about Cena and Rock.

A thread in which Dylan compares various wrestlers to HHH

Taylor and Regal carried the four team ladder match at Armageddon 06. Which I think is the best WWF ladder match ever. Reason being it felt like four teams trying to win and hurt each other, instead of playing mouse trap. -

I have not seen the Bret match in a long time. I saw the Savage match fairly recent. -

Uh. When? Because I don't think I've ever seen such a dramatic before/after contrast in ring skills as there was with Sting after his gimmick change. Most of the time he looked like he'd completely given up and was just running through the motions. (Especially memorable was his godawful performance at Halloween Havoc '98, when he dragged the worst match I've ever seen from Bret Hart.) Every once in a while he'd seem to wake up and have a better-than-expected match with random folks like DDP or Sid, but mostly it's like it wasn't even the same guy. Oddly, it seems like he tries harder in TNA than he did in late-90s WCW, but by then his body was shot and you could tell that he couldn't do the stuff he wanted to anymore. Sting had some really good matches in 1999 (albeit, to me, surprisingly). v DDP 4/26 smokes any other WCW match from 99 through to the end. 9/20 v Benoit rocks, and 4/12 v Flair felt like Sting had never changed from the late 80s. I'm not going to touch on the HHH stuff, but yeah, I went through some 99 WCW recently and Sting stuck out to me as a "holy shit he isn't completely sucking like I expected but is actually pretty damn good" wrestler during the period. Sting was only kinda bad his first two matches back. By the summer he was not back to old form but he was trying his best and having the occasional good showing. By 99 he was pretty consistent with the DDP match and the Goldberg Slamboree match. the Hogan match at Superbrawl 98 is just astonishly bad. He had bad matches with Savage and Bret too. He was really quite terrible for all of 98 before bouncing back in 99 The Savage match was not bad at all and neither was the Bret match. -
I think Tajiri and Rhino were perfect for each other. Everything they did meshed so well.

He is not good at leading a match. Or wasn't during his big run. He can come up with really well thought out series of spots, unfortunately he is not good at filling up time while he is coming up with something. About Luger, he was underrated in later day WCW. He had matches with Goldberg that were better than anything HHH did with Goldberg. -

I remember her from this promo the Dudleys did imitating Public Enemy. "Rocco we got a lot of memories here. Remember that rat we use to tag team after shows." People start chanting "She's still here: and pointing to her, which even she was laughing at. -

Kind of but it was more she happened to be pregnant, than a storyline about her being pregnant. -

Pregnancy story lines in wrestling are the worst. They always result in a miscarriage or something and nobody wants that on a wrestling show. Nobody really wants that on soap operas, it is too unpleasant a reminder of reality. -

I don't think anyone blames her for it. I wish she had taken it further. Just at the time it was an irrational career move. Or it seemingly was. -

Oh yeah he did, I just remember Brock hitting the F5 on him and HHH never getting back at him. -

I watched a Hardcore Holly match from 2000 that was Flair like. With HHH taking on a brash mid carder who he underestimates. -

Watching the build up for Wrestlemania 1 on Tuesday Night Titans. If that were booked today, Mr.T would of beaten up Piper, Orndorff and Orton by himself. -

And I guess what I'm saying is there's a big difference between watching Stone Cold Steve Austin when you're 16-years-old and then watching John Cena when you're 30. EDIT: I guess I'm not growing out of wrestling as a whole though, because I can still enjoy CMLL or NJPW for modern wrestling. I even thought SMASH was decent enough. I liked Kana quite a bit. I guess I just want different things from my shows. WWE does not provide me with what I am seeking and neither does ROH. But I can go back and watch shit that is new to me from the 70's or 80's & still be thoroughly entertained. If you can't see that the biggest difference is about 14 years of growing up then I don't know what to tell you. And nothing to do with a huge gap in the talent/charisma of Austin and Cena? -

He looked like a naturally small dude taking steroids. Compare 1997 Shawn to 2011 Shawn and you can see the difference. Piper had the same bloated look after he started with the WWF and Vince thought he was too small to be a wrestler. Just because someone's not ripped doesn't mean they aren't on something. I will grant in this case, some of it does likely come from all the drinking and recreational drug use he was doing at the time as well. It's also funny how Hunter opened his induction speech with a string of jokes on the subject of how small Shawn is now. My favorite was him mentioning they had to close the garage doors in the building because it was windy outside and Shawn might blow off the stage. I think he looked more roided up in the later Rockers days than 93/94. -

HHH had the best Great Khalli match ever at Summerslam 08. It was a really really good match and HHH got Khalli over as a monster, when Khalli's aura of invincibility had long since cracked. -

I really love his matches with Austin at No Mercy 99 and The Six Pack Challenge the month before. If he is not trying to be the man I think he is good. I think he is a pretty good promo when he is not trying to make himself seem legit. -

In his defense, he did not look ripped. He looked like a dude who got fat suddenly. -
Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?

Reminds me of Bischoff trying to bury Eric on a 99 Nitro and knowing Eric had kids he was going to force on people. Eric Watts at least had a credible background as an athlete and you can honestly believe Watts would of given a guy like him a shot in Mid South. Maybe not a monster push, but he would of probably gotten a shot.
