Gimmicks you'd like to see developed
Victator replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in Megathread archive
That goofy Yorke Foundation thing happened too soon. "How do we beat these guys, hold on. I think there is an app for that." That was the Acolytes gimmick. Wrestling needs a new evil army guy. It is way past due. -
No these were three different things spread out over time. I just found the disappearance odd, considering the earlier stuff. It was when he asked the girl out in PM.
-
On another forum he was outed as having asked a girl out through a PM and it embarrassed him enough to disappear. Which I find strange since he proudly had cyber sex with two dudes online under false pretenses. Cook disappeared after being outed as hetero? That's new. So I'm confused about this. Considering the number of people who hook up online these days, that's not exactly embarrassing. There even is the Christian equiv of Match.com now. Or are the two sentences related? John Well the cyber sex was not recreational. He thought he was pulling a prank. But it was like that South Park where Cartman put his dick in Butters mouth.

What If Vince Ran With Slaughter Instead Of Hogan

He lost a bit after the run with Hogan ended. Him and Sika lost to the Young Stallions. -
Gimmicks you'd like to see developed

I don't know how you could do them as faces. Unless they were being opposed by some uber hateful Brother Love type. -
Oh man Tazz was pretty awesome there. Love the cowboy hat. Wish I had appreciated it more then. At the time I was still mad over the fact he was not eleventy time WWF Champion or something. That feels like the first time since early 93, the WWF let the real Jerry Lawler shine thru.

Gimmicks you'd like to see developed

The problem would be bringing it up in a natural way. The only thing I could think of is to drop subtle hints. Then have a heel try to blackmail him and he just plainly states he is gay. Then its never brought up too often, or doesn't become a gimmick. -
Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3

I don't give a shit about Rock/Cena. Just two guys sniping at each other over the internet for a year. I hope they do anything to bring some real hate into this. But they are both too chicken to be real heels. I hope that Cena beats Kane to pulp and when he opens the ambulance doors, Rock is waiting and kicks Cena's ass. Anything but this twitter sniping. -
The Young Stallions were brutally bad. They had shitty matches with Demolition and the Brain Busters, that is pretty impressive. Roma improved a lot when he turned heel though. I don't think he was a bad fit for a heel Horsemen unit. But for a returning heroes Horsemen he was a bad fit.

At his peak Hogan was great. Nobody was outright better and not many were his equal.
-
The Superbrawl V match>?? Vader looked as much like a monster as he ever did. He beat Hogan from pillar to post and Hulk responded in kind. The Uncensored match was bad as was the Cage match, was but Superbrawl V was one of the best either guy ever had.
-
I love Hogan during his peak WWF run from 84 to 93. I could be content watching nothing but that. I hated him in WCW but he had a great match with Vader at Superbrawl V. My biggest problem with the Hollywood run is he worked too small. A guy his size should not be stooging for Roddy Piper.

He was really effective as a manager in 1992 WCW.

Its too bad WCW did not do more with them in 90. They had a decent short run as masked ringers for the Horsemen. -
Well I think by definition a bully is someone who picks on people who can't fight back for whatever reason.

What's this all about? Pretty sure I've never heard this story before. Okay Holly was on the road with Dupree and had the rental car in his name. A tornado was about to hit Mobile so Holly had to go home early. He gave Dupree the keys to the rental car. A month later Holly gets a summons to appear in Oregan (where the car was rented). Dupree fucked up the car and got a bunch of tickets. Holly is fined 10,000 dollars and has to fly up two or three more times on his off days. He tries to find out what happened from Dupree who keeps ducking him. Til finally they are in the ring and Holly kicks the shit out of him. Yeah, I'd definitely never heard that story. I mean, I don't know the extent to which Holly tore into him, but if that happened to me I'd absolutely be pissed as well. Yeah, that's a weird one. One the one hand Holly was right to hold a grudge, on the other, Holly didn't confront him face to face, he waited until they were in a match either near the finish or right after it, whear they were supposed to be "working" and then shot on him by waiting until he was laying down on the outside of the ring, couldn't see what was coming and sucker punching the guy right in the face. Gave him a black eye. There's footage out thear somewhear of it tho you can't see the direct blow since it's on the other side of the ring the camera is filming. With all this JBL talk i'm surprised no one's mentioned the Blue Meanie incident at the ECW One Night Stand ppv that was a similar deal. Holly said he tried to confront him before the match. But Dupree went out of his way to avoid him.

You'll find guys taller but not as big all around. Same thing with Andre, it was not just being tall, it was he was giant in proportion.

I watched the Smith/JBL match and that was pretty damn tame for all the bitching. I thought it was lame Smith did not even get token jobber offense, but I see far rougher stuff on old TBS squashes.

I listened to Holly's shoot and he seemed like a cool genuine guy. I get why he smacked around the Tough Enough guy, and he owned up to it completely. If he had stabbed Rene Dupree he would have been justified. Holy shit I would probably be serving a life sentence if someone fucked me over like that.
-
And according to Bischoff and JBL WCW did try to sign him.
-
At his worst JBL was good. Don't even know what the argument for him not being would be. In fairness to Vader, that was not his idea. Also he took getting his eye knocked out well.

Gangrel maybe, although it didn't carry him any farther than a European Title shot. He had that awesome music, the entrance with flames, the blood-spitting, his own stable, and the bloodbath routine, and people seemed into it. I can't remember anything that he did, though. He had no memorable matches (maybe a product of the time), and I don't know if he ever got to cut a promo. Anyway, he wasn't carried very far by his gimmick, but he strikes me as a guy who was over solely because of the gimmick he was given rather than because of anything that he did. Someone (And I think it's Christian) tells a story about how they had HUGE plans for Gangrel. They loved the entrance and the look and everything else, but the first time he had a chance to do a major promo, he froze and that was the end of their faith in him. It was Matt Hardy, they had Gangrel do a segment with the Rock. He froze up and blew it. Listening to his shoot he has serious problems with self confidence and it affected his ring work. -
I don't think it hurt the match. it made Gorilla look bad, but it wasn't the Tokyo Pop FMW commentators ruining a Fuyuki/Tanaka match.
