Rumored returns, arrivals, matches, etc..
Victator replied to jpchicago23's topic in Megathread archive
I don't see why Kobashi would not of fit into ECW. Not like AJPW did not have the best brawler ever in Stan Hansen, and in 98 Vader had a big run. Plus Kobashi would have looked huge in ECW. Have him come in and trash Spike Dudley or Mikey Whipwreck. Then you can build to a match with Taz and have it end in a schmozz or something. Maybe they get attacked by the Dudleys or something. Then you do a tag match. -

I kept waiting for a big angle with the Godfather turning back into Papa Shango. Preferably after a Flintstones esque head wound. -
I think Mistico looked really good Monday working with Hunico. Hunico improved greatly after losing the mask.

I think the point is they trot out "Oh they complain and still watch." and its not true. Hell compared to a decade ago I'm nowhere near a regular viewer. I watch tons of old shit, but I probably catch Raw once a month. Taking this attitude you can treat your most dedicated fans like shit has eroded the fanbase.

That has been a talking point for years. Quick lets compare 2011 Raw Ratings to 2000 Raw Ratings. Or better yet lets look at what buyrate Halloween Havoc 2011 got.

Oh man I loved this match. I think I saw the full version once. Bellemo was surprisingly good, and Andre rules in tag bouts. I remember Buddy being the standout in the match.

And their gripes are more valid. Gabe needs to shut up.
-
It means he should shut up about it. He has made more money from piracy than every uploader on PWT combined.
-
I took it as a promotional skit like the NFL would do on the Fox halftime show.

Great match, one of my favorite matches for either guy.

Yeah but none of the explanations worked. It is usually Hogan dared defend himself with a chair after Savage used a chainsaw.

Wasn't that due to a screw job in the thirties? Some guy bit himself tricking a ref into DQing Strangler Lewis? Sting is not dumb. Sting tried to see the best in people, even if he knew it would bite him in the ass. I think everybody has a friend or family member that is an unbearable shit stain. But you love them and you hope against your better judgment that maybe this time they have changed. That's why Sting would forgive Lex over and over. You really have to contort logic to think Hogan was the bad guy against Savage, Andre or Orndorff.

Hulk wasn't the bad guy in those situations.

He did in Huntsville too. I feel used.

Sting fully expected to be betrayed there. Flair approached him multiple times. Sting finally relented when Flair used little kids. After that Sting warned him that if Flair betrayed him he was going to hurt him badly. Fast forward to November and Sting tries his best to break Flair's back. People always forget that part.

I don't think Rock or Punk could have done that without Cena to play off of.

I've been looking for that Road Runner diagram for a long time. Thanks Johnny

It even started before the match, really. Here are The Miz & R-Truth, the big "conspiracy" victims. Fired by Triple H. Fined $250,000 dollars each for their actions. Assaulted WWE superstars to close a WWE PPV before surrendering and being arrested. Then being attacked by Triple H while defenseless, the COO of WWE. Making YouTube videos about how they're going to sue WWE. Then Johnny Ace is the new GM & says "Hey, you're rehired. Glad we talked out that lawsuit." and they still come out to their old entrance, rapping & saying "you suck" like nothing changed or had happened at all. That whole entire show was fucked. From Rosa Mendez botching standing in the goddamn corner, to Mark Henry wrestling Randy Orton again after they had both just cut promos about how they were moving on from each other. EVERYTHING was fucked. It was awful. The problem is with the execution. If Miz and Truth were in cahoots with Vince and Ace, then it would make sense for them to stroll back in. But they gave no hint that was the case.

Speaking of the Varsity Club, Steiner and Rotunda were an underrated team. Did this cool looking Stun Gun/dropkick finisher.

Where? No it isn't. It was designed to be the fight in the context of ECW and the characters of Sabu and the Sandman. Name a harder cane shot he has delivered. Don't really see the point here. Why doesn't he just gouge his fucking eye out in the first minute pf the match. Why jump off the top rope to do a move, when you can just punch him repeatedly? Why doesn't Sabu just put him in a front facelock the second the match starts and not let him go? He was trying to maim him in the context of a Professional Wrestling match. In particular a ECW professional wrestling match. So yes its not going to look like a "real" fight. No wrestling match does. Shit mma and boxing matches don't look like "real" fights. Pardon me my stop watch is broken.

Because its not bad at all and is a great match. I mean a lot of your critique could be applied to 99% of every match ever. At some point you buy it or you don't. But don't go in saying Superman:The movie is bad, because you don't believe a man can fly. It is a drunken brawler fighting a lunatic and it felt like a fight. It felt like they were trying to maim each other. The finish with the cane shot worked because it was the cumulative damage he took. They had just got done maiming each other for twenty minutes. The cane shot was the knock out blow. It's not like the cane shot looked weak. It looked like it took his head off. Which is not even factoring in the rest of the match or Sabu having a broken jaw.

The plan was for Bret to drop the belt at the December ppv anyway. In hindsight announcing Bret was going to WCW probably would of helped the WWF.
-
John you're confusing the N2R 97 match with Stairway to Hell. N2R 97 match was the bad match they had. Actually the only bad match they had. As it turns out, Sandman was fucked up on Acid during that match.

Best Worker in the World in the '80's
Victator replied to MikeCampbell's topic in Megathread archive
Lex was really good by the second half of 87. Putting him in the Horsemen was a great idea because it gave him a crash course on working. Everything from his promos to in ring improved ten fold. You see him on TBS at the start of the year and he is having trouble with a squash. He could not even get the jobber in the Torture Rack. Then his promo was a mess. Check back in around August and it seems like a different guy. -
What is the story with that?
