Man, we're going to have to invent new words to describe Dante Martin. It's like we live in a What If episode where Spider Man went into wrestling full time instead of crime fighting.
-
Pat McAfee looks like a thin Mark Madden with those glasses and it's freaking me out.
-
I suppose it's very telling that when I see two Arab characters interact on WWE TV I have an initial "oh no" reflex.
-
It was quite the ride. First it looked like she raided her mom's closet and found something from the 80s. Then calling Becky "manufactured". Then that....chant. At least they remembered Toni Storm exists.
-
Rick Boogz looks like he fell out of a particularly coked-out 80s Saturday Night's Main Event and I love it.
-
Yeah, unless he's playing some kind of important role behind the scenes I'm not aware of, that's not a name that would be on the "must renew" list if I'm TK. If he wants to stay on a per day deal like most of the folks on Dark, I wouldn't have a problem with that. Plus Joey's a smart guy and knows how to hustle, he's not someone who'd starve without a contract.

Heel Shotzi makes me feel feelings for sure.

Speaking of WWE being a trash company, they put out a statement saying Keith Lee's comments about paying for his own medical bills were "erroneous", which everyone is reading as them paying for any in ring injuries but not for the COVID related issues he got on the job.

It seems pretty obvious by listening to Tony that Page was penciled in to win the title at the last PPV before he took time off for his kid. That ended up working better than they could have hoped for since they had Punk/Bryan/Cole all coming and and that would have overshadowed the big win. Now the focus will be entirely on Page for the main event.

Eddie/Punk just screams the type of feud needing a Tupelo Concession Stand Brawl kind of match at some point. Both as a shout out to Eddie's days marking out over Memphis tapes and because of how heated it became.
-
I mean, honestly what more can they do at this point? The PPV is already ridiculously stacked, if you aren't already into Kenny/Hangman, Lucha Bros/FTR. Eddie/Punk, Jurrasic&Christian/Superkliq I don't know what else they can possibly give you to get you interested.
-
Say what you will, Herb went out like a champion.
-
He absolutely has a love of drinking White Claws, there's been tons of tales of him having boatloads of it on hand. The coke stuff is probably just a "kidding but maybe not really" type thing about how he can juggle running a wrestling promotion, an NFL team, and a soccer team all at the same time.
-
Yeah Hogan/Warrior was lightning in a bottle. Savage would have given him a better match but it wouldn't have been anywhere as memorable.
-
Hell yeah! The Mega Championship match, Lucha Bros vs FTR. LA PARK~!, plus the usual AAA random insanity, sign me the hell up. Most hyped I've been for a non AEW show probably since the wheels fell off New Japan.
-
My best guess is Tyson may have been going into business for himself a little as we all know he's a massive fan and I'm sure wanted to do an angle with Hogan. I would have loved to be able to eavesdrop on negotiations between Vince and Don King though, I can just imagine what that sounded like.
-
Cain Velasquez and LA PARK having a scrum at the Triplemania press conference is the most AAA thing ever and I love it.
-
It's because wrestling, and especially WWE, has the "who cares, it's just fake rasslin" idea where anyone who makes a fuss about something they do gets ignored by the mainstream press unless it's something really serious like the Benoit deal.
-
Well Tyson was sent to prison in March 1992, so I would say no. Vince had been trying to get him for a while so I'm sure there were probably some discussions before all of that though
-
Not to mention if someone is getting offers from both companies, you'd have to factor in (for someone like Woods at least) you'd never see an extra penny while an AEW deal could be less on paper but combined with being able to earn income elsewhere it could be the far more lucrative deal. I got the impression that how they did Kofi dirty really put a bad taste in their mouths. Like after all the talk about how inspirational Kofi's story was they just squashed him in seconds as soon as the Great White Hope was back (not saying he should have beaten Brock, but come on).
-
Also I often get the impression that Kenny is such a polarizing figure to some folks that he could do a Hard Times level promo and they'd be like "meh, I didn't think it was that great".
-
Even if you don't like Kenny's side of the deal, Hangman has been so good at conveying his insecurities in a way rarely seen in a babyface to the point when he wins the title it will be an all time moment for AEW. Dude's been doing the work so well it almost doesn't even matter what Kenny does (FWIW I think he's been good as the condescending dick heel champion).
-
On the same token, one of the greatest storylines/feuds WWE has ever done was a year long story about a crazy guy convinced his best friend was stealing his wife saying said friend had "lust in his eyes". Sometimes wrestling is best when it's melodrama.
-
Yeah Page calmly broke it down that he sees through Kenny's bullshit and he's gonna beat his ass at the PPV and the heel looked shook (until the angle at the end). It was great at showing Kenny, maybe for the first time in his reign, is actually fearful he's going to lose.
-
Also it has seemed for a while like Woods has been eyeing the post WWE phase of his career. Once they started releasing people (and most of his UUDD crew) you could really start reading between the lines in his social media posts that he was getting sick of the BS but he was doing so in the most professional way possible.
