WWE having a commercial free half hour on FS1, AEW booking dream matches on Youtube, competition is a great thing for the biz friendos.

I don't get how anyone could think "1970s Mongolian" would be a good gimmick in 2021, it really stands out in a negative way. It's like New Japan allowed WWE to come up with a gimmick for one of their guys and thats what we got.

Somewhere Michael Cole is sitting in a dark room with a single tear running down his cheek, not being able to yell BOSS TIME when Sasha comes out. -

SRS had a story about how Jinder requested to be paired up with Veer and Shanky after working with them while he was rehabbing his knee at the PC. I suppose getting split off to Raw means WWE sees something in Veer? He certainly has the look they go for. -

Gotta hand it to them, the promise of murder is probably the best way to get someone named GOLDBERG cheered in Saudi. -
I saw it mentioned before that his character of "guy who drinks a lot at least in part because he's battling with Impostor Syndrome" hits home with a lot of people in his generation. There's just something about how he's presented that hits a chord more than any other in AEW.It's even more impressive that most of it was built up in an extended period with little to no fans, yet once crowds were back he was by far the most over person on the show.

Richie Incognito, an NFL lineman, was outed as being a racist bully and it didn't stop him from playing on at least two different teams after it came out. Some sports like basketball and hockey tend to police themselves better, but the NFL will absolutely hire the biggest trash fire of a human possible if it can win them a game or two.

IMO, the worst thing that can happen to him is that he proves to be adept at WWE style comedy from the start. Like NintendoLogic said, it's fine to do some comedy stuff once you've been established as a top guy, but if Vince thinks you're funny from the jump you're on the Santino track for life.
-
Depending on Vince's opinion of Paul at the time, it could end up being his biggest liability. Every time he falls out of favor, it seems all the Heyman Guys/Gals not named Brock end up on ice.

To be fair, that was like the one time he had a valid point in an era where he would have hissy fits on what seemed like a daily basis. The online crowd at the time was just getting tired of his bullshit and just thought it was another attempt to get out of doing a job (which it was as well, lest we forget). It is disheartening to hear Mark Henry on this train though. Yeah, he was a company man in WWE but I never thought he'd be at the point where he would be justifying bullying like that. Not surprised by ol' Bubba of course, dude's always had an inflated sense of self worth and seems like he considers himself some sort of authority on what is and isn't "acceptable" among the boys.
-
I just remember him always showing up doing job duties on Prime Time Wrestling since they always seemed to show matches from Hamilton/Toronto shows. Certainly has an interesting story, but not really much of it involves wrestling. It was mentioned before that Vice had concerns FMW wasn't "mainstream" enough for an episode despite it being one of the more influential promotions in history (they inspired ECW, which in turn ended up shaping what pro wrestling looked like in the 90s in the US) but somehow this dude gets one?

If for argument's sake we say those guys *are* MMA nobodies, Lambert is getting such nuclear heat it almost doesn't matter. Worst case they can be the hired help for the guy everyone in the stands wants to tear to pieces, and if they can get the others over as stars it will make it even bigger when the AEW guys eventually send them packing (and they will because Tony's too much of a nerd to fall in the "WCW never gets its win over the nWo" trap).

The Astros are gonna be heel draws since everyone outside of Houston hates them for being the most obvious cheaters in baseball since the heyday of the spitball. Atlanta always has a larger than expected following since so many people grew up watching them on TBS.
-
Baseball got lucky that big market teams and teams with historical fanbases like the Cardinals got in the playoffs this year. Like if MLB could hand pick the teams they wanted it would pretty much be this group. I would expect monster numbers all around.
-
Judging by the heat Dan Lambert got, the AEW crowds sure seem to care a whole lot about these "MMA nobodies". AEW has been really good at knowing what buttons to press to get heel reactions from their fanbase, and it's not like WWE where the heel factions just get ENDLESS HEAT with no comeuppance.

I'm guessing when Hangman wins, it will be in a match where all of Kenny's crew tries to interfere until the Dark Order come out to help their hero (remember before he left he told them to stay away) and everyone has a tearful moment.
-
...and to dovetail the two sides together, it looked really weird when Ronda went from tapping people with armbars in seconds to using a weaker looking one as her WWE finish. Even in a kayfabe sense it looked bad since if wrestling was real why would she stop using the one that was instant death in MMA?

It's Twitter Official now, Bob Fish is ALL ELITE Undisputed Era gonna end up becoming the top faction in AEW

Good job by Kenny doing his best to make sure Luchasaurus didn't die from that triple powerbomb spot.

I hope people remember Steen/Generico won't be options until next year at the soonest.

Hero would be a good player-coach to help the youngin's still learning on the job.

Yeah but there's tons more shows in the 80s to sort out. The 90s at least makes it pretty clear what you can skip over, there's a buttload of 80s matches that look like they might be good but turn out otherwise and vice versa.
-
I think since the WWF was running 3 separate circuits at once at points in the 80s means there's a lot more chaff to sift through. Not everyone is going to be willing to dig through all those jobber vs jobber 15 minute draws to find some of the hidden gems on 80s lineups and I can't really blame them for that,
