Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
sek69 replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
The Red Wedding match is off, Taya is going to miss the PPV and the following tapings due to family issues. -
The fact that he felt the need to say he didn't feel any shame in being released seems to suggest that the company views it as a failure on the talent's part. If your release isn't related to drugs/behavior it's an odd comment to make. Plus he's another "got hurt, lost his spot, got cut" release which will only further encourage people to not miss any time.
-
"I'm not ashamed of being released" seems like quite the tell on the WWE mindset, doesn't it?
-
He mentioned WWE was going to do a PPV in Scotland next year on the Wednesday WO show before saying he was given misinformation from an UK reporter.

The different levels the crowd reached at Regal's announcement of the War Games match was great. First they were kind of "meh" at him announcing it as a three way, then when he mentoned two rings there was a smaller pop from people who knew what was coming, then finally the big reaction to the full reveal.
-
I remember when Bayley started in NXT, people were asking if she was supposed to be a female Eugene because she seemed "special". Even after her character evolved past that, her promos always came across that way to me.
-
It should be noted that Summer and Darren are both cautionary tales. Both got hurt and saw their spots disappear while they were out, then they were left in limbo until getting cut. Hard to think anyone but the top level folks dont see that as a message to do whatever it takes to work through injuries and not take time off.

Sports fans cheer for teams, nothing new there. My only issue is why would the wrestlers care?
-
Big E as Akeem might be the most meta thing ever.
-
I love how there's zero reason for anyone to care what show they are on until they build to SS, then suddenly everyone's ride or die. Other than Angle, who was just told his job was on the line, why would anyone else care? Do they get a brand supremacy bonus on the next check? Something that's literally never mentioned 11 months out of the year suddenly becomes so important that heels and faces band together.

Yeah, it's weird how the discussions go when it involves the women. A male heel booked like Alexa would get crucifed, but when it happens in the women's division it's WWE's fault for ruining the babyfaces. I like Alexa but she's basically been Stephanie'ing the whole roster so far.

He has been gone for a while so there would be a need to reestablish him, but destroying most of the upper midcard to do it seems like overkill.
-
I think the issue is more "why the fuck is Kane the one getting the shot at Braun" rather than not understanding a challenger needs built up.
-
Kane and Taker have always been very good at making it look like they kill dudes with their Tombstones, but when you go back and rewatch it they don’t come anywhere close to making contact.
-
I admit I laughed at Bo getting the “hey he’s still alive” pop when he showed up with Miz.
-
Huh? The same Emma who sandbagged the "sexy" Emmalina gimmick is suddenly going to become a model?! What's weird is that all the stuff they were doing to built up Emmalina she was already doing on her Instagram so it was strange to me she had issues pulling it off as a gimmick. Also weird is all the people in WWE reacting as if she died as opposed to just getting released. All the "we'll always remember you" stuff seemed a bit melodramatic. Hope Lio enjoys being the new Heath Slater, there's no way he's going to escape their doghouse at this point.

I think Dean's a prime example of someone who's far better utilized as part of a team/unit than a singles star.
-
I don't mind the Bullet Club stuff in NJPW since they tend to have more balance on their shows, but ROH is in danger of falling in the WCW trap of letting the popular stable run wild leading to no one outside it being able to get over.
-
Also PWG by nature tends to arrange it's events as a showcase of the best indy talent it can get, so it's going to have higher quality than random B level WWE PPV #7978908 where all the matches have been done a million times. and/or get kneecapped by questionable booking choices.
-
It's just that every time I opened Twitter yesterday the newest Tweet on my timeline was Dave lecturing someone on how much better PWG is than WWE! He's lost his mind a bit! I mean, for the most part isn't it? They've become a destination for wrestlers and fans, their shows always seem to get rave reviews form people who aren't Dave.
-
Probably relevant too this thread that the guy who was the face of WhatCulture's wrestling shows admitted he was sliding into women's DM's/asking for nudes/being generally creepy all while lying about being in an open relationship.
-
HBK became one of the biggest stars in history in part due to knowing wins and losses matter and always being adverse to doing jobs. I would probably say Nia might have overplayed her hand somewhat, being so early in her career and all, but Id never fault someone for doing what they think is best for themselves. Plus this might work in her favor, as Vince tends to weirdly respect people who tell him no despite putting everyone who works for him in fear of losing their job.
-
Because Dave can (apparently) make money at it and Russo can't?
-
People pretending the Young Bucks aren't major merch sellers are worse trolls than anything Dave tweets.
-
I mean, other than the garbage truck spot what was really all that bad in the main event? I know that's an "other than that, how was the play Mrs. Lincoln?" situation, but I felt that the match up to that point was as good as could be hoped given the situation.
