  1. Shelby knew it was coming. It was Shelby and Silva that set it up.
  2. But WCW, being WCW, missed the shot so this may have been the first time he was seen on-screen
  3. "The Big Event" happened pretty much by accident. The WWF originally wanted another MLG date but couldn't get it. They wound up booking Exhibition Stadium, but weren't expecting huge numbers. Then Molson Breweries (who sponsored the event) put a bunch of money into promotion and boom, 60K.
  4. Thanks for bringing this back to life Mike!
  5. It was pre-wellness policy Joking aside, I often wonder if Dave ever dabbled in any pharmaceuticals when he was hanging and banging with his workout bros back in the day. It seems pretty clear from the stories he's told that they at the very least educated him on steroids, and obviously a lot of photos of him in the 80s-early 90s show him being pretty jacked. Pure speculation on my part, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least. Hanging with that kind of crew in that era, one could easily envision Dave experimenting with roids a bit. More importantly, he's rocking Zubaz pants.
  6. Paul Bearer told a great story about Taker borrowing his rental car to go party, with the caveat that Paul was leaving at 7am for the airport and needed the car by then at the LATEST. Paul was waiting outside the hotel at 630 and as the minutes ticked by, he's doubting that the "PartyTaker" (as he called him) will show. As 6:59 hits, the car comes screeching into the lot and pulls up to Bearer. Taker, bombed, stumbles out of the car and says "told you so".
  7. Jesse Ventura had brainwashed you.
  8. It was pre-wellness policy
  9. Someone should tweet Bret and ask him if he has a copy. Knowing Bret, it seems like the kind of thing he'd hang on to
  10. They had shot promotional photos with Bret and Hulk in a tug of war for the belt for Summerslam '93.
  11. I just want to add that I was hoping that the song Ricky provided to be the soudtrack for the pics was "Girls in Cars". Alas, I am disappoint.
  12. Which pic was that? DDP even went as far to call him "Jake" at one point, but no....nothing further.
  13. Sterrrrrr-oiiiiiiids.
  14. I'm totally blanking on this. Anyone have links to clips? The only appearances Andre made in '91 was on crutches in the corner of the Bushwhackers, right? EDIT: After scouring youtube, I found this and it kind of brought it back for me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=KFkUFhrmrbM
  15. Davey wearing the Summerslam '92 t-shirt was a nice touch.
  16. Zuffa's main goal is to force an up or down vote in the State Assembly, which hasn't happened as Speaker Sheldon Silver is an anti-MMA guy. The bill to legalize and regulate MMA easily passed the state Senate last year. As for the Cageside Seats article, I know it's supposed to be tongue in cheek, but.....yuck.
  17. Honestly, Dave would lose whatever credibility he has in the MMA world if people knew the retarded shit he says in the pro wrestling=MMA category.
  18. Were, Dave. Were. Does Dave really think that there's some Brock Lesnar fanbase that aren't WWF fans, aren't UFC fans, but will turn up to buy any PPV they hear he'll appear at? If that's true, why hasn't Brock's Ultimate Deer Hunting had a PPV? The idea that none of the people who bought UFC 81 out of curiosity stuck around and became UFC fans is migraine-inducing. They may be "casual" UFC fans, but they turn out for GSP and Anderson Silva fights as well. They're not just paying to see Brock and hoping that this is his last go-round in MMA before he "goes home" to WWF.
  19. Pro wrestling "legitimacy". That's the only reason to count Couture.
  20. Hogan audibled no-selling the power bomb, did he not?
  21. I bet he has friends who did it. No...they watched via a stream
  22. Savage was a pretty clear heel at WM7.
  23. That was simply WONDERFUL.
