If you wanna say that she couldn't compete against the top professional male fighters, that's one thing and I don't have a great argument against it. But it's ridiculous to claim that every man would beat her. I still vividly remember attending a jiujitsu class where this tiny little teenage girl was their best fighter, easily running circles around all the guys in the session. MMA isn't just about physical strength; if it was, then the stronger dude would win in every single fight and that's obviously not the case. Remember those early UFCs where Royce was usually the smallest guy in the entire tournament? He still had little problem in beating a ton of guys who were much larger and stronger than him. Your argument is just plain goofy. Cyborg's been destroyed by women, she'd have little to no chance against a properly trained male MMA fighter. If you want to argue she'd smash the loudmouth at the bar, then fine. But beyond that, no. This should be the take-away for the entire thread. Personal likes and dislikes are just that. Not liking women's wrestling sometimes just means you don't like women's wrestling. It has nothing to do with "psychosexual hang-ups" or any of the other nonsense flying around this thread.

A thread in which Dylan compares various wrestlers to HHH
Dooley replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in The Microscope
He was. -
I was there for Raw in Ottawa the night after Montreal. That was the most molten I've ever seen a crowd in terms of pure hatred. First Rude came out to do his spiel and the place was drowning him out just as bad as they were at Superbrawl. Then HBK/HHH came out and the place went nuclear. After the first segment when they had gone to commercial, HBK and HHH were taunting some fans and doing the "towel flick" at them with their t-shirts. One guy tried to climb the rail and they thought that was funny. Then a couple of others started attempting it and they got the hell out of dodge

The Slaughter heel turn is interesting since at the time, people LOATHED it. the sense I get from what sources we have is that it was basically thought to be THE WORST THING EVER. Looking back, it's feels pretty harmless comparatively. The fact that troops were actually fighting and dying in the first Iraq war at the time they were running basically a parody of it on WWF TV turned a lot of people off.

I think HHH/Rock 60 minutes smoked Hart/Michaels 60 minutes. That doesn't mean I think either are better workers than Hart or Michaels. Plus one reason this match was as good as it was is creative booking, from Patterson I guess. It was really tons of smokes and mirrors, but it worked wonders when you think about the atrocious 30 min match they had in 98. Wasn't one of the reasons HBK was guest ref so he could call spots? -
No kidding. I'm honestly shocked that anyone thinks otherwise. A woman beat up a guy that talked too much shit. You'd figure the "white knight" crowd would be all over that.
-
I don't think wanting to beat him up qualifies as a psychological issue. Who doesn't want to punch that guy? As much as he's a terrible person, cheap-shotting him while screaming "THIS IS FOR HAITI!" is pretty out there. Nah, I'm with Log on this one. Her background is Haitian, right? Combine that and her efforts in providing relief...if you were in that situation and someone you work with said what Bubba did, you'd want to clean his clock too.

He was over in 98 and '00. '99 not so much. That was the FIRST HHH giant push where he got nothing but crickets until the end of the year when they paired him up with Steph and early 2000 where Foley damn near killed himself to get Trips over. -
Katie Vick. My interest had been waning since the botched Invasion and the Trips uber-push of outright boredom, but the Katie Vick stuff finally crossed that line for me where I just felt like an idiot for watching. I've never really been back barring a special occasion night here and there (like Bret's return). I still enjoy the older stuff, but that one angle turned a lifelong fan who had spent a ton of money to go to two Wrestlemania's, various Raw tapings and every house show in my area; as well as getting together regularly with friends to buy PPV's to someone who just said "fuck this shit".

Isn't that precious?

Yeah, the great thing about Jack Tunney was you saw him 4 times a year and he always made an important announcement or ruling before shuffling back off to the golf course.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?

Not to mention his constant Kennedy assassination references. -
On another forum he was outed as having asked a girl out through a PM and it embarrassed him enough to disappear. Which I find strange since he proudly had cyber sex with two dudes online under false pretenses. Cook disappeared after being outed as hetero? That's new.

If Russo's gone and Hogan/Bisch are in charge, I may just give it a chance the way I did the first night they showed up...until they ran me off. If nothing else, hopefully they'll bury the godawful name TNA for good. I can't imagine anyone with any self-respect watching something called TNA Wrestling. -
I called Observer Live a few years ago and asked about this rumor and Dave said that he had never heard that. This may get confused with the story in '99 how Russo's last WWF script before he jumped to WCW contained a segment where Foley asked Rock to marry him.

There are times when people online make little jokes about how Jesse Ventura's Navy SEAL stint didn't really happen. What's true and not about that? I know nothing other than they said it in his A&E biography.

What If Vince Ran With Slaughter Instead Of Hogan
Dooley replied to KrisZ's topic in Megathread archive
USER WAS BANNED FOR THIS POST If hating on Bonnie Tyler's Ravishing isn't a bannable offense, it should be. Is that what that was a knock-off of? I had no idea. I think history has proven me right on that one though. Of course, like most people, I fall into the category of either "Bonnie Tyler only recorded one song" or "Bonnie Tyler and Laura Branigan are the same person" No love for Burning Heart? (Do I get my 80's cred back now?) -

I'm not sure if Survivor threatened to sue over "Eye of the Tiger" or if it was just part of Vince moving away from using actual popular songs to doing everything in-house, as everyone's theme switched over around that time. Remember Hogan had that awful instrumental theme off The Wrestling Album before they transitioned him to Real American. -
I would venture to say it's parents just suffering along because their kids like it, rather than being actual "fans".

Hogan and T were never in the same scenes in Rocky III, so I don't think they were tight coming out of that. As far as the AWA goes, Verne had already rejected T's idea to wrestle, which is what led to him bringing the idea to Vince. I doubt Verne would have changed his mind, he was too set in his ways at that point. -
Looking for legitimacy for what they do. John I agree 100%. I'm just curious as to how the tin-foil hats would respond

One thing I've always wanted to ask the MMA=pro wrestling brigade is why it's only pro wrestling people that see it that way? You never hear anyone from the MMA side proclaim "what we do is pro wrestling!"

In Bischoff's book it says that Ric had negotiated the retirement match in exchange for a better deal. There was no way he was legit retiring.
