A former LPGA golfer is now in the JR/Johnny Ace position?

The wall was already down when Ted joined the WWF. Guys like JYD had already brought the fans over from Wattsland, if you're going to use that argument.

The UnAmericans never did anything offensive. In fact, it was very Canadian in how bland the approach was. There wasn't much more to it then "you know, we really don't care for you". If you're referring to Hassan, I think they were past the point of "kill him for amurika" heat and into "what the fuck are they thinking?" heat. They almost burned the flag on Raw. At MSG. Two weeks before the first anniversary of 9/11. I almost caught a fish thiiiiiiiiiiiiiis big. Hassan doing the mock beheading on Taker just after the London bombings was in much poorer taste IMO. Well If Lance says he was getting that big of a reaction from the crowd......

Who's A W?

I had never heard of Tony Kozina before this thread. I lack respect.

I don't understand the significance of JTG and his complaints. Is he speaking on behalf of those who wrestled at Wrestlemania and got slighted, or is he complaining that he got a few thousand dollars only for his work at Wrestlemania? I ask because I don't remember seeing him on the card. Why should he get credit for anything that happened on the card? Am I reading it right? JTG is kvetching about being underpaid for a card he wasn't on? I wasn't on the card either. Where's MY check??

How so?

Weird. Gibson always reminded me of Joe Flaherty.

I went back to watch No Holds Barred recently just for nostalgia and my god it's terrible. It's not even "so bad it's good", it's just really, really bad. Hulk Hogan is barely adequate at playing himself. Kurt Fuller was fun as the quasi-Vince McMahon, but that was about it. I remember Vince being on Letterman promoting it and saying fans would get to see Hulk in new situations "including....romantic situations" with that Vince voice. Letterman laughed and said "do people WANT that?". That's pretty much how I felt about it. The scene at the French restaurant made me yearn to see something of the quality of "Rhinestone". But I did enjoy both "Ernest Goes to Camp" and "UHF".

[1994-12-10-WWF-Superstars] Henry Godwinn vignette / Left Guard commercial
Dooley replied to Loss's topic in December 1994
Was the Left Guard commercial meant to be a dig at Hogan's Right Guard commercial? -
Yes. A quick joke or analogy is fine, but Meltzer.....well he's Meltzer. Still thinks they're both the same fucking thing.

They played it note-perfect so Helen came off as a sympathetic elderly mother that couldn't bear to see her son in so much pain, along with Owen's Academy-worthy performance egging her on. Plus it was probably harder to heel an old woman in 1994 then it is today. Stu was great as the grizzled old-timer thinking "ah, this is nothing compared to the Dungeon, he'll get out". Everything about this was just about perfect. Backlund's post-match promo may be my favourite thing ever in the history of wrestling. EDIT: I don't know how to do youtube tags on this site, but here's the Backlund promo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyIfMvyI_dM

Isn't this 'guy with so much passion and pure understanding of this sport' the same piece of shit who left a Twitter message saying wrestling was grown men pretending? He's a piece of shit because he stated a fact? Are you going to respond with vitriol if he declares water to be wet?

This was legit one of the funniest things I have ever seen in any form of entertainment. That's gotta count for something. How the Emmys were able to snub Hogan here is a travesty.

You've heard him bury guys in real life on what? Media appearances? Of course he's going to talk differently in a media appearance and a creative meeting. Whether that's a DIRECT quote or not, I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility he would have said that around the time he, Foley and Funaki were all on Smackdown. He would not pf phrased it like that. Especially since it sounds liker a blind item at a third rate newz site. "That's pretty thin, Riggs." - Roger Murtaugh

[1994-08-29-WWF-Summerslam] The Undertaker vs The Undertaker
Dooley replied to Loss's topic in August 1994
That was hilarious. IIRC, they had further plans with Lee as FakerTaker, and promoted Taker's upcoming Raw matches as 'Paul Bearer's Undertaker' and such. But with the crickets in the response to the match, that got nixed quick.- 10 replies

I don't believe he said that for a second. The phrasing is all wrong. I'm not calling you wrong, but could you expand on that a bit?

[1996-10-21-WWF-Raw] Hunter Hearst Helmsley vs Marc Mero
Dooley replied to Loss's topic in October 1996
The Perfect Hoax! I loved this at the time, although I'm not entirely sure why. I remember they had been teasing Perfect getting back in the ring at various points during the year, most notably before International Incident when they teased him as Warrior's replacement in the 6 man main event before revealing it was Sid.- 12 replies

Nash has always said that HBK "found a reason" to take a couple of months off every year.

I think people are just excited because it'll mean better UFC video games. I haven't seen anyone consider this earth-shaking business news.

I never understood the logic of bringing out Mr. T in 1994. Dude was ten years past doing anything. I suppose there's an easy WCW joke there though...
