  1. Ah yes, the dreaded "humanization" of the Warrior. Is the appearance on Regis and Kathie Lee where he brings a teddy bear for Cody on the set?
  2. Can't do that. They saved things like that for Hogan's feud.
  3. I honestly can't tell if Vic is serious anymore.
  4. Or maybe even not have Warrior's first title feud be against the guy he spent most of the last year feuding with and already beat. It's a thought.
  5. But isn't saying you don't recognize the difference between "of" and "have" like saying you don't recognize the difference between 2 and 3? I JUST BLEW YOUR MIND.
  6. Will we see you rebel against arithmetic next?
  7. I want to take this chance to pile on Vic for his use of "would of" and "should of". Even for a guy that thinks Demolition is awesome, that drives me nuts.
  8. They still built it up after WM6 that Earthquake "cost Hogan the title" with this attack. Just to take some more of the shine off Warrior, I suppose.
  9. Whether it "ruined" him is up for the individual to decide, but it told you right away that it wasn't the same Goldberg you had in WCW, and wasn't worth emotionally investing in or taking seriously.
  10. That could've been amazing. Have them act like your douche-y uncle with a pony tail and a gold chain who still thinks he's "got it". Ricky Morton as "Uncle Rico" would have been fantastic.
  11. Janet Jackson's boob made the halftime show must-see TV again. The worst part of halftime heat was the ridiculous close-up they had on Rock while Foley was lowering the forklift on him. That got a lot of groans in the room I saw it in.
  12. Noodles is right. Forrest needed a gift decision against a completely shot Tito Ortiz. Being worried about Chael losing to Forrest didn't enter the equation for Zuffa. UFC 155 will do just fine with a heavyweight title fight and Griffin-Bonnar 3 as a co-main. TUF will not only benefit from Chael, but from moving off of Fridays. Despite how tired the TUF format is, the Friday night timeslot was the biggest drain on its numbers. EDIT - Apparently Bonnar turned down the fight and instead we're getting Phil Davis to take out FoGriff, but the point still stands.
  13. Aren't the complaints against Gorilla here re: hooking the leg and improper application of the abdominal stretch things that only cynical smarks would point out? To SLL's point: would anyone even be talking about Gorilla knowing the 'WWF house rule' was to only hook the leg on a pin if Meltzer hadn't made it a talking point? So, going back to the 80's a grand total of how many WON subscribers knew this was the case? A couple of thousand maybe? Versus how many who were watching and just thought he was calling the action like any other sports announcer would? Isn't that the same kind of stuff people love early Jim Ross for? I'm not saying there aren't a lot of valid criticisms of Gorilla. I just don't think "burying someone" or "putting himself over" by mentioning someone didn't hook the leg or applied an abdominal stretch improperly are among them.
  14. My point was that it's hardly new that a combat sports announcer points out when an athlete is applying a hold incorrectly. Outside of UFC, you also see it in the Olympics for judo and wrestling etc.
  15. i.e. Any time someone applied the Abdominal Stretch without interhooking their own leg around the leg of the guy he was applying it too. Kind of like when Joe Rogan points out that someone's applying a choke incorrectly in a UFC fight?
  16. Was the QB told by his coach that he absolutely, positively must always pass to receiver Y even if receiver X is clearly the better option? If so, does the announcer know this is the case? If so, does the announcer continue to criticize the QB anyway instead of directing blame at the coach who actually made the stupid rule in the first place? No? Then it's not a parallel example. But if you're reacting to wrestling in a sport sense or kayfabe, that doesn't apply. Like in any other sport, you call a flaw in the execution as the play is happening.
  17. It was part of the house style at the time to only hook the leg on the pin that ended the match. Gorilla was criticizing guys for making a mistake that he knew they weren't allowed to correct. It only served to make him look good at the wrestlers' expense. I'm pretty sure I've brought this up earlier in the thread but I don't see how that's any different than sports announcers saying the QB should have passed to receiver X instead of Y or whatever other parallel you want to draw to any other sport in the world.
  18. Either way, Vince Russo did not single-handedly sabotage WWF's ad rates or Linda's government aspirations. That's making him way more important than he actually was.
  19. I don't recall that but I'll take your word for it. The PTC had an undue amount of power at that time and was railing against everything and anything. I just can't single out Russo and his ideas as why they were targeted. The Lionel Tate thing would have given them enough ammo. No way they would be running consecutive sell-out nights at the same arena now either, so it's a wash
  20. Seems like an odd thing to pile on Russo about, especially using the word "crippling", given that it was one of WWF's most profitable years ever. Don't make me choose between lining up with Russo or people like the PTC. Everybody loses.
  21. What's all this then?
  22. For the Pac-Mayweather comparison to work, you'd have to have Pac-Marquez IV lined up, have Manny get hurt in training and then have Mayweather to agree to step in instead and face someone like Chad Dawson on a month's notice. I'm shocked that not even a month removed from Jonesgate that people think UFC can pull a superfight out of their ass on a moment's notice.
  23. Except that it's not a title fight. It's Silva moving up in weight class and fighting on short notice. Through that prism, I think it'll be a fun fight and have yet to see any real reasoning against it other than "why can't they do [insert impossible scenario of x vs y] instead? I would like that better". EDIT: Ben Fowlkes wrote a good article on the match-up and the difference between Bonnar-Silva and Jones-Belfort here: http://mmajunkie.com/news/30612/the-differ...the-details.mma
  24. Why do closed circuit numbers end after WM4? I ask because I watched WM5 on closed-circuit. Did they just start putting the numbers together at that point?
  25. Triple H is in the JR/Johnny Ace position, she's second in command. How did Geddes get or even want that job? It just seems so random to me.
