What about Shawn Michaels Dream Matches? Against The Rock, for example.
-
I still think Taker/Orton was MotN....
-
After going off on the IWC for not praising his match with RVD, he didn't give him a shout out?
-
No doubt. Especially if Raven is still the champion. With all the UFC & TNA talk, TNA should try to get back Ken Shamrock too. The debut show having Jeff Hardy, Chris Jericho, Ken Shamrock, The Dudley Boyz & Kanyon for name value, along with showcasing Christopher Daniels, AJ Styles, Alex Shelley & Samoa Joe, maybe some Shark Boy and Abyss to get over gimmicks, would be a great show. Hell, they could run the Naturals Vs. AMW again. They might get a 2.0! September will certainly be interesting. Not just to see what direction TNA takes leading up to their national Spike TV exposure, but to see how Spike goes about letting the viewing audience know they're coming. It'll be comedy to see TNA commercials during each WWE break. That might make WWE think twice before taking a commercial break midmatch.

This seems to be the "thread of the day" at multiple forums that I visit. If nothing else, it's getting people talking. I'm sure it's just a ploy to get either more hits to his website or generate more interest in his character for when he returns.

Shawn Michaels cut a shooty, sarcastic promo on Hogan. Talked about how HBK couldn't keep up with his technical prowless and untouchable catch-us-catch-can style and speed. This prompted Chris Masters to randomly come out and him and HBK brawled. So, Shawn is still a face, apparently, but is trying to get over that he doesn't like Hogan. Either that or he's the most confusing tweener ever. Masterlock Challenge next week between the two. There was a decent Shelton Vs. Angle match. A well timed commercial break killed a lot of the flow though. Angle was made to look stronger. Cena wrestled Jericho in a loser is fired match. Cena won. Jericho begged to keep his job to no avail. Angle did a run-in post match to beat the slop out of Cena and Bischoff said Angle is the #1 contender. This was the main and how the show ended. Torrie Wilson and Candice are on Raw now. They were "traded" for Christy and Stacy. Torrie and Candice "turned heel" by doing a beatdown on the Diva Winner Ashley. Ric Flair was on Carlito's Cabana. Went crazy. Dropped an elbow on his jacket and beat up Carlito after Carlito tried to "woo," failed, then said "wooing's not cool anyway." There was a promo for a new tag team. Garrison Cade, whom is Lance Cade again I think and the former Stan Dupp whom has a "Deliverance" gimmick and ensured us that someone would "squeel like a pig." The Big Show squashed Snitsky after a humorous, albeit retarded, backstage segment where Snitsky was smelling Maria's feet. Maria looked good. Then Big Show put his monsterous bare foot in front of Snitsky and called him a pervert or some shit to prompt the match. Kerwin White cut a backstage promo or some shit. I wasn't really listening. It ended with him saying "if it's not white, it's not right." Um. Edge Vs. Hardy feud is still going on. Hardy lost to Conway one on one. I guess they're playing up that he has head problems now or something. Post match, Edge beat the slop out of him again. I think that was it....

HHH always has a place. Also, Trish might have a place if they bring Ashley to the ring. I also think they could hold off on Brock/Dave 'til Mania if they bring Brock back as a face...which I don't really want to see. I can't see Hart showing up being an option, personally.

Hulk Hogan Vs. Shawn Michaels Batista? Vs. John "Bradshaw" Layfield; World Championship John Cena? Vs. Chris Jericho; WWE Championship Orlando Jordon? Vs. Chris Benoit; US Championship Edge w/ Lita Vs. Matt Hardy Kurt Angle Vs. Eugene w/ Christy Hemme The Undertaker Vs. Randy Orton Eddie Guerrero Vs. Rey Mysterio; Ladder Match Also, people have speculated that we could get anyone from Bret Hart, Brock Lesnar, Trish Stratus and Triple H showing up tonight. We also might get something to do with LOD2k5 and MNM. EDIT: I don't know how I forget about that other Summerslam thread. I even posted in it. Anyway, you can either delete this topic, or we can make it the spoiler version or something.

I'm assuming there's a reason for the shirt pull. It doesn't make any sense otherwise. I can't even get behind anyone in WWE anymore. The last person that I liked was Hassan and WWE took the character too far. He wasn't the best wrestler, but he was entertaining. He was a throwback to gimmicks of the past that I enjoyed a lot, so maybe that's where most of the love came from. That and he was a great talker. I liked Conway when he first debuted. I saw him on Heat and saw a lot of potential. Then they stuck him in La R?sistance and I no longer cared. Now, with his single's push, I like his music.... It's like, I'd be better off watching someone like Colt Cobana in Ring of Honor or Abyss in Total Nonstop Action. So, that's what I watch.

Eh, I thought it did a good job of getting HBK heel heat. Although I was disappointed that Bret didn't make an appearance. I don't expect him to wrestle, guest ref. or anything like that...but I'm sure he could still cut a promo and have JR shill his DVD on commentary. Of course, that's even doubtful. I really don't expect to see Bret on WWE TV again.

I don't even know anymore. Nowadays, you can be the hottest shit ever and not learn how to wrestle until a few years after that. If you would've asked me a couple of months ago, I would've said Hassan. Obviously, that's not going to happen now. Most of the people that I think have "the look" are the shits in the ring. Chris Masters comes to mind immediately. I think Carlito has the charisma to get the job done as well...but we'll have to wait and see. Of course, I thought Conway had a shot. Now he has this current gimmick, so I think he'll probably just become another Val Venis. Potential never reached. Of course, he could turn out to be a Rick Rude type character too. I think Paul London could be something despite his lack of size. He brings a lot of energy. I don't see anything in Shelton Benjamin or Orlando Jordan. If I had to pick two people that would be "the future" I guess it'd be Cena and Carlito. They modern era Austin & Rock...but that's REALLY stretching it. TNA? Abyss. Samoa Joe. Alex Shelley. If he's sticking around, Austin Aries. AJ Styles. TNA has a lot of people that I could see as potential stars. Of course, in TNA, wrestling talent matters a lot more than it does in WWE.

Sounds like fun. Should be a blast!

Since there is such a huge amount of content here, I know we're going to have a "tournament" for this, however, how do we determine in what order we watch the stuff in? Are we going to give random seeds to matches or just randomly throw them in brackets then watch them in the order that they come up? What I mean is, are the DVD matches going to be in order of the way that the brackets play out, or are we going to have to sift through multiple chapters on multiple DVD's to find the match of the hour?

Kenta Kobashi & Mitsuharu Misawa Vs. Toshiaki Kawada & Akira Taue (6/9/95), (5/21/94) & (12/3/93).
-
It'd probably be easier for me to get blank DVD's and then send them. That way, I can choose the DVD's that I prefer, and cover the cost of postage when sending "the package."
-
For the older matches, especially the ones from the late sixties-early seventies, what type of video quality should we expect?
-
I think that the big reason why the TV shows are so lackluster nowadays is because there's a PPV, pretty much, every Sunday. You're not going to see big matches and title changes on TV when WWE can just wait six days and charge thirty-five bucks for it. Of course, in the same vein, there's so many PPV's nowadays, that they've pretty much become the weekly shows. So, you get storyline advancement and skits during the PPV's now. I know that WWE makes too much revenue off of the PPV's to drop the number of them that they have, however, I can still reminisce about the "glory days" when they only had four PPV's a year and the WWE schedule revolved around building to those four shows.
-
Ain't Muta got any matches that we could throw on these bitches?
-
I really liked Eddie Guerrero Vs. Brock Lesnar from No Way Out '04. Triple H Vs. Chris Benoit Vs. Shawn Michaels from Wrestlemania XX was good too. Uh, how about that Raw Money in the Bank match between Shelton and HBK? I remember the finish being really good but my memory of the match is foggy.
-
I'm actually going to try to get involved with the stuff this time around. It'll be tough to compare all the 5-star matches though, so it should make for some interesting conversation, if nothing else. So, we pay you for the blank DVD's or we send you blank DVD's?

I have a WWF World Tour 1992 tape. It's pretty boring for the most part, however, the Macho Man Vs. Shawn Michaels match stands out to me because of Savage's selling. He's still selling the leg work from Ric Flair at Wrestlemania. It's great. He even struggles to climb the top rope to hit the flying elbow. That's how it should be done. Of course, on the same tape is one of the worst, most boring matches I've ever seen. It's a Texas Tornado Vs. The Mountie match. That shit goes like twenty minutes, with nothing but restholds, and ends with, like, a small package or some shit. Man, it was really, really bad. I just rewatched the tape not too long ago. After I read about Alfred Hayes dying, actually, since he was doing commentary on the tape.

Thought this thread could use a bump. Also, could it be possible to compile of list of all the things that Hogan has done wrong, politically, in the business?
-
Frankie is one of those weird wrestlers that isn't really bad per se, yet, he doesn't appeal to me at all. I've never really been fond of him. He just screams bland to me. He didn't even impress me when he was in TNA and didn't have restrictions. That being said, this is still pretty shitty. It seemed like his big break came (why him over others, I'll never know) however he does get more respect from me for not changing who he is. He has a generic look and I thought he was a generic wrestler. At least "The Future" is happy with his genericness.

From what I've read, it was a great match that lost it's charm due to a shitty ending. I'll be able to personally give an opinion later in the day.
