Not one but TWO commercial breaks during this match?! Goodness.

You know how Benoit grew up idolizing the Dynamite Kid? I think it'd be interesting to see whom all these other wrestlers grew up idolizing. It'd be interesting to see the Shawn Michaels and Bret Harts being name dropped by the same people that say The Ultimate Warrior and Hulk Hogan. I want to see someone that grew up idolizing Rick Rude, Ted DiBiase, Curt Henning, Rick Martel and Greg Valentine. That'd be interesting to me. I wonder what someone like Charlie Haas would say?

Reading over my last post, I can't believe how many times I typed "now."

Who do you guys think are the top five workers

It's like Homicide had a good summer or something. He just kicked it up a notch or two out of nowhere. That and I like his character. I don't think I've ever even heard of Rocky Romero. Where's he from? -
The storyline that he proposed about the wrist bands with Angle seems pretty entertaining. I would've liked to have seen that play out. To be honest, I'm not real high on Charlie Haas. I actually didn't think he was that good of a worker. I know he's not a good talker...much like Shelton. Still, he had a ton of room for improvement and seemed to learn quickly. Maybe he'll go to RoH or TNA and try to get someone to do that storyline there? It's not like a ton of people will read or hear this interview anyway. I think it'd make for some good entertainment. Like he said, when it's closer to reality it makes more compelling TV.

Alright, the match has been built up too much now. I have to watch it now. Hmm. I wonder if my expectations will be too high now? I haven't seen anything good from Regal in quite some time. Benoit even seems as if he's been calling it in for a long ass time now too.

So, did anyone read the Smackdown Spoilers? Is the show worth watching this week? Hassan has pretty much been the highpoint of the show for me recently. MNM just squash nobodies. Batista, for me, is all action when he's not wrestling. I like the Mexicools and The Undertaker's entrance. Any reason to watch (download) the show this week?

I've avoided this post because I don't know who he is either. I didn't want to offend anyone. Glad to know that at least I'm not the only person sitting in this boat.

Eh, it's no worse than posters on a wrestling message forum acting uppity. Look at TSM. There's a ton of people who sit on their high horse and speak (type) like their word is gospel. If you disagree with them, you get bombarded by their sheep following. Apparently, they have people that go out of their way to defend other posters because they've agreed with something that they've said in the past. You know what I mean?

Only reason I have broadband is because my brother pays for it. That being said, I'll certainly exploit it.

Man, that would've been such an amazing promo. It's a shame no one will be able to see/hear it. I love me some Muhammad Hassan.
-
Eh, I don't think it's worth the tape space. If the match turns out to be good, I'll download it.
-
Is it said to be good or is this just a preemptive lookout due to the two workers?

Man, that Matt Hardy shit was crazy. I was literally baffled. I didn't know what the fuck was going on. It was like when Scott Hall came out on WCW Nitro. I just didn't know what the fuck was going on. That was amazing. nWo type shit. It's been nine years since I've felt like this. Some weird, wild stuff.

Personally, I love Joe. I wouldn't put him ahead of AmDrag but I do really like him. I don't get the Styles love. He seems to botch a lot of stuff to me. I'd say: 1.) American Dragon 2.) Samoa Joe 3.) Low Ki 4.) James Gibson 5.) CM Punk Punk beats Homicide. I also like Colt Cobana a lot but I don't think he's a great worker. -
I firmly believe that tha majority of the fans that were watching during the boom period are better off not watching. I believe that they were bandwagon jumpers and trend followers that just started watching wrestling because it was popular. They wanted to fit in somewhere so they could converse with everyone else and have a clue about what was going on. I remember when I was in high school everyone knew that I was a big wrestling fan. I had a detention pretty much every single day and I would always read Wrestling Digest and shit like that in there. People knew I liked wrestling but I didn't talk about it to people. It was just my own thing. It was one of my hobbies, along with playing Magic. Then wrestling got big. There was the nWo and D-X. Steve Austin, The Rock and The Wolfpac. It got really popular and everyone started watching it and talking about it. Stores like JC Penny's even had wrestling shirts in the display windows. Suddenly, people whom I didn't associate with all too much started asking me questions and shit. Truthfully, I was pretty popular, so it wasn't that awkward. It was just weird to see different social classes coming together to talk about wrestling. I hung out with a lot of people from the basketball, football and wrestling teams. Then I also hung out with my friends that I grew up with all through school that were in Math Counts and the Chess Club. The problem was, none of them were really wrestling fans. They didn't talk about wrestling. They talked about the other shit. "Hey, Coffey? Did you see Miss Hancock dancing on the table last night?" It was all the shit that happened outside of the ring that they cared about. Sable's outfits, Austin/McMahon, nWo Vs. Sting. I think a lot of those people ARE some of the people that are still sticking around. That's why shit like the Diva Search and Big Vis still gets shown and it still gets ratings. The Monday Night Wars killed wrestling. They made it not about the wrestling anymore and we're still feeling the after effects.

I have no clue how to not alienate at least some of the fanbase. No matter what they do, they're going to piss off someone. If they start treating the women as more than just objects, it'll piss off some people that only care about seeing "puppies" and whatnot for example. If they were to cut back on microphone use in general, that could greatly benefit those whom can't talk. Benoit wouldn't be boring to people if he didn't have to be in segments where his opponent talks for twenty minutes and then Benoit has to retaliate.

You can still have heels and faces. It's just that they need to eliminate tweeners. You either win fairly or you cheat. If you cheat to win and get booed that's great. If you cheat to win and get cheered, something is wrong.

I don't even know what to say to that, Loss. I like Triple H more than most people. I think he's a good worker that harshly gets shit on. I think that he has a passion and a great love for the business. That being said, I've heard about Punk coming into WWE as well. I just don't know how it's going to work. Last I heard, Punk was trying to bulk up. He won't be able to use the majority of his moves, especially the Pepsi Plunge. I don't know how well his tattooes will go over. I doubt WWE will let him keep the "Straight Edge" gimmick. I just don't know what to think. I guess if Triple H likes him, politically, it'll play out good for Punk. Of course, if Punk is stuck with some Simon Dean type shit, it's not going to matter anyway. -

I've actually had a conversation with someone that didn't like Samoa Joe. His argument was that Joe was stiff and that wasn't what wrestling should be all about. I tried to counter-argue that it was just a different style. He also didn't like Low Ki. So, then we moved from Joe's stiff style to his look. He didn't like his look because he said he was flabby and only looked big when next to indy workers. I couldn't very well argue that. He does look small when next to someone like Billy Gunn. Of course, he has great stamina and is samoan, so his physical appearance shouldn't matter when he brings the workrate. -
Well, I think the biggest problem is that everyone looks at wrestling as a phony sport. So, if they were to legitimize it, in a Ring of Honor sort of way, that could be a good step. Of course, Vince doesn't want to have to pay sports taxes, thus we get "sports entertainment." Instead of it being portrayed like boxing, it's portrayed like a circus. Instead of press conferences and number one contenders, we get soap operas and "divas." I think if it were to become a statistical sport, that could help. People love to crunch numbers for other sports such as baseball but none of that shit matters in wrestling because it's worked. I mean, we don't have anything in wrestling, at least in WWE. No number one contenders or tale of the tape or any of that shit. We get whomever is getting the big push. You either like them or you don't. If you don't like them, you hate the product. If you do like them it's "OK." The redneck, white trash stereotypes and all of that shit could easily be erased. It'd just take making the product be displayed as more of a sporting exhibition. Of course, we know that's not going to happen. We get Big Vis ditching the ring announcer for hoes. We get Diva Boot Camp with staged wardrobe malfunctions.

I'm really curious. I don't really know how much love people like Austin Aries or Alex Shelley would get. I'm not sure where Samoa Joe or CM Punk or Low Ki would rank, if at all. How about American Dragon, Christopher Daniels or Homicide? It'll be interesting to see. Without Puro or Lucha or WWE, who's names sprout to the top?

I just want to point out that Trish acting like a dog wasn't distasteful to me and, in fact, I found it hot. Not because she was barking like a dog but because she was scantily clad and crawling on all fours.
