  1. Same here. It's like Gilbert Gottfried screaming down your ear. Unlistenable.
  2. Well, from a personal POV, I just hated all those legitimate martial artists and MMA guys they brought into wrestling in the late 1990's, because very few of them actually "got it". It begun with Shamrock, who did "get wrestling" to a degree, and because of his success, both WWF and WCW thought they could try and duplicate it with other names. It ended up turning into a clusterfuck of guys who were boring to watch, yet who were receiving sustained-effort booking at the expense of actual professional wrestlers who people did want to watch. To be fair to Shamrock though, he had been a Pro Wrestler since about 1989 or something before he got into the shoot game. In fact, didn't he get into the shoots through an association with Dean Malenko or something? I could swear reading something to that effect in his awful book.
  3. And yet when Undertaker flies his opponents to Texas to PRACTICE WrestleMania matches, nobody says word one. Funny that. It's pro wrestling. Not many things inspire hypocrisy in it's followers quite like our hobby does. Personally I'm fucking terrible for it.
  4. Yeah, I think the main event scene of the Attitude era being pretty much the only part that holds up has done Steve Austin no disservice in how he's perceived, which is quite right as he was indeed great.
  5. His commentary in UWF was his best contribution. Especially his use of "SUPER DUPER" for everything. UWF managers sucked lots of dick though. I've already mentioned Colonel Red, but Kevin Casey and Zoogz Rift were also absolutely terrible.

Yeah, there's no chance in hell now I look at it sober. Disregard.
  7. Dolph Ziggler used the sleeper as a finish for quite a while too a few years back. 2010 maybe?

I'd not be surprised to see him offered a starting date in Orlando if he did. Might be a nice little Plan B for him, in fact.

He was picked in the final round, 7 from Mr Irrelevant in fact. There's every chance he won't get picked up.

Another week, another quality Mark Henry promo.
  11. I'd really wager it's not one of the most. All Star's king of profit per head obviously (I was told by a very reliable source that Brian Dixon makes an absolute killing on pretty much every show and the number floated was mind boggling, considering), but some of the rumoured paychques for the fly-ins at PCW shows have bordered on the obscene if there's any truth to them. At least the three largest UK touring companies (All Star, Welsh Wrestling, LDN. Could a Scot fill me in on Scottish touring companies?) would be doing better than PCW financially. By some way, probably. When you consider that at an average, for the sake of argument, of 150 people drawn per show that Welsh Wrestling will see 1650 approx through the doors in October alone (Might even be more, as it's the Barri "Mason Ryan" Griffiths homecoming tour around Wales including his hometown, and more shows still might be added that month as it stands), and All Star would more than likely do even more than that, both with far smaller payroll for talent than PCW, and you can see why they'd have a definite financial edge. Especially when you consider the MASSIVE business the touring companies do at the gimmick tables. To the extent that it's often the biggest earner! Also, minor bug bear. I don't understand the whole UK "Indies" thing. Every single company in the UK is an indie. That's why the whole Defend Indy Wrestling stuff baffled me. Defend it from what? All the UK is is indies, so really they're just "Companies".
  12. What could he do? More than what he did do, which is waddle down the aisle with Hardwork Bobby Walker or whatever and just stand there without moving a muscle or egging his charge on or anything at all, I don't even think he'd blink, he could have least pounded the apron now and again to start clapping from the crowd, then later waddling back down the aisle with his charge after they lost.
  13. He talked him up great in the early stages I felt. Put him over as something special and exotic.
  14. See, that's where we differ. I'd rather hate something bad than be apathetic towards an irrelevance. I need to feel some kind of emotion, even if it's a negative one. I liked Gary Hart, but I'm a noisy advocate of his in the face of any and all evidence otherwise as I'm awkward.
  15. Yeah, Matsuda was just pointless. And pointless and giving off the aura of "Why are you even there?" is far greater a crime than being bad in my eyes.
  16. Oh, don't get me wrong, Teddy Long of 1988 or so to 1991 or whatever was great. But that man who ate Teddy Long and then stole his identity afterwards in the mid 90s was the drizzling shits.
  17. No manager sucked the meat missile with the gusto that Colonel Red did in Abrams UWF. Easily the worst manager I've ever seen, and I saw Teddy Long in 1996 accompanying Jim Powers and looking like Charles S. Dutton.
  18. What I never understood is why did they start him off unmasked and then put him under a hood. Shouldn't it be the other way around?
  19. Very good All Star show in Rhyl last night. Attendance looked to be about 150. Highlights were Dean Allmark vs Seiki Yoshioka and Cannonball Grizzy (PN News)/Sam Adonis vs Robbie Dynamite/James Mason in the main. The General Manager of Wrestle-1 and Johnny Saint were there as special guests for the British Light heavyweight title Allmark/Yoshioka bout. Wonder what the Wrestle-1 bloke made of Sunny Rhyl.

Is there an argument for Mark Henry being the best promo guy in the industry over the past few years? He was absolutely pitch perfect again tonight.
  21. While people will pay money for John Cena and John Cena accessories there's no need to drop him down the cards. Especially when there's no-one ready to take his place yet.
  22. There's only one real World title for me anymore. And John Cena wears it well.
  23. Tony Blackburn was a fan, or at least went to the London Arena show in 89.
  24. The crowds seemed happy enough to see him back in 1992.
  25. PCW's a hot topic this week. http://ukff.com/topic/133502-the-preston-city-wrestling-thread/page-45
