  1. No. Vince Sr believed in a strict face/heel divide. They tried Bruno vs Pedro Morales at Shea Stadium in 1972 and they only drew as many fans as a packed MSG, which was considered dissapointing. One of the lessons learned was the belief fans didn't want to see face vs face. Vince Sr was also extremely careful in his booking of Bob and purposely kept him apart from Bruno in any manner (they never teamed) because he didn't want the fans to think Bob was an inferior replacement to their hero.
  2. Bruno vs Waldo Von Erich
  3. DeNucci/Rivera vs Blackjacks
  4. Backlund vs Koloff in 3 parts https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRxNID97Mus https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z12UmdDREJ0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlC3jEARdTo
  5. I think a lot of those are on youtube. I'll check around later
  6. If you're expecting workrate and "5 star classics" you will be sorely dissapointed. The WWWF era was largely a wasteland of lazy workers and formless, dull matches. And this is coming from someone who LOVES this era. What this era has going for it is a red hot main event scene centered around Bruno Sammartino, and later, Superstar Graham title defenses. Most of these come from MSG. I think one needs to have an open mind about these matches. They may not be the most exciting matches from a workrate perspective, but from a pure epic ATMOSPHERE perspective, these matches are as heated as anything ever. Atmosphere means a lot to me, so if that's not your thing, these matches may not mean anything to you. Off the top of my head the best WWWF matches I've seen: Bruno Sammartino vs Spiros Arion, 3 match series at MSG 2/17, 3/17, 4/14 1975 Bruno vs Waldo Von Erich MSG 6/16/75 Dom DeNucci/Victor Rivera vs the Blackjacks 6/21/75 WILD BRAWL Bruno vs Superstar Graham matches from 76-77, with 6/27/77 MSG probably being the best Bruno vs Hansen MSG 4/26/76 (match where Bruno broke his neck. JIP but still good) Bruno vs Ken Patera MSG 8/29/77 Graham vs Dusty Rhodes MSG 9/26 and 10/24 1977 Bob Backlund vs Ivan Koloff MSG 8/28/78

Matches discussed on the show: 10/3 Boston 10/10 Philly 10/16 MSG, Best 2 of 3 falls 10/6 Milwaukee, Tito Santana vs Haku 11/7 Boston, Two Referees 11/7 Philly, Two Referees 12/5 Philly Playlist (For both parts)
  8. This is the last page of El-P's epic death of WCW thread with his recommendations for 1999-2001 http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/19237-wcws-highway-to-hell/page-36&do=findComment&comment=5570645
  9. Yeah I've got those ones saved, plus their MSG match from later in 87. That should be good for Ep 14
  10. Hmmm...I guess I watched it on youtube because I know I've seen it before
  11. That is one of the 70s MSG shows on the Network. I remember being entertained by that match and the whole card in general
  12. Apparently there was another show in LA the same day with Backlund, Snuka and some of the better workers, hence this motley crew
  13. Cool, thanks. I'm tempted to do an in - depth exploration, but I'm probably pushing my luck with Sleeze since I'm also going to make him watch one or two longish Shadows matches
  14. Haha...I plan on making an afternoon of it myself in a few days Check out this epic card Baron Mikel Scicluna vs Eddie Gilbert Charlie Fulton vs Pete Sanchez Mr Fuji vs Swede Hanson Don Muraco vs Rocky Johnson (IC Championship) Johnny Rodz vs Mac Rivera Andre The Giant vs Big John Studd Jose Estrada vs Bob Bradley Tony Altimore vs Tony Garea Salvatore Bellom vs "Superstar" Billy Graham
  15. *Special TTBA spoiler: we plan to devote an entire episode to Survivor Series 87*
  16. Matt, pimp me some Demolition vs Billy Jack Haynes and Ken Patera while you're around
  17. Looks like there are about 3 matches from 87 to choose from and a bunch from early 88, all against the Glamour Girls, including a match at the first Royal Rumble
  18. Superstar Sleeze and myself plan to check out a few matches featuring this team on an upcoming Tag Teams Back Again podcast. What are some of their highlight matches available online?
  19. You know Vince and his motivations so well. Fuck man, none of your beloved old wrestling promoters were saints that were destroyed by the Devil McMahon. Vince wanted the biggest stars to help make him more money, of course. He didn't take those stars because he had a burning desire to ruin lives and destroy wrestling.
  20. James didn't include any of the April 83 Cap Center card on his 79-83 set
  21. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoT5DdbAIJkRsL9rneqVrtA
  22. It must be, because that was the first ever televised MSG card.
  23. I'm not sure about that. I want to say I've come across it before but not sure
  24. We are going to try our best to get things back to a twice a month sched. The last half of 2015 saw a bunch of different personal commitments converge for all of us, which limited the amount of possible recording time. Hopefully 2016 will be better. If we do keep up a twice a month sched we will likely finish off Backlund's run around August or September. We could also slow things down and look at individual MSG and Spectrum shows again. I've often thought we wouldn't continue into the Hogan era, but I know Parv is at least interested in exploring 84-85, so who knows
  25. Hey, all I wanted to know was how Johnny called you out on the show. You didn't specify it was on the board. Sorry if that offended you.
