  1. World Cast of the Champions VI: AWA SuperClash IV https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-of-the-champions-vi-awa-superclash-iv April 8, 1990 Damn the Network and their Hidden Gems constantly diverting the boys from the WCCW timeline! But who can resist the AWA's SuperClash IV from 1990? They can't, but oh man, they probably should have... Feast your eyes on... -The sad, depressing, and also quite funny, slow death of a once great promotion -A not-quite supercard level supercard -Gimmicks and wrestlers who would've been (and some who were) better suited for the 1970s -No JYD? No problem, here's The Clawmaster motherfuckers! -A bad Tully Blanchard match? Yep -A young Yokozuna as KOKINA MAXIMUS! -Larry Z vs Mr. Torture in an almost good match -Cage warfare, in which the star of the match is a retired football player, and not one of the good ones -And to top it off, 15 minutes of promos and outtakes, of varying quality -Can't wait for SuperClash V!
  2. Has there ever been a kayfabe attempt at explaining why there are always kendo sticks under the ring?
  3. Yeah, post-match angle was great, and I'm far, far from a Hager guy
  4. That was a cool match, with the crowd falling in love with Riho midway through and willing her to win
  5. See that green shirt 90s guy has whored himself out to AEW. No doubt he'll be at HIAC. Kinda hope WWE ban him from ringside going forward out of spite
  6. I live in Canada, dont have cable, and have been using a vpn to get US streaming on Roku for almost five years. This morning I signed up for a one week trial of Hulu live TV basically just to watch the debut of AEW and the first Fox SD without any bullshit illegal streaming issues or having to download after the fact. After the trial I'm probably going to go legit and get a minor cable subscription and cancel all the US stuff, including the Network. I've resisted the Canadian Network because you need a cable sub and the on demand content is not available on Roku, at least I dont think it is. It will be cheaper this way too. But this is all motivated by wanting to watch AEW live with no hassles lol
  7. Yeah, I can't find it from my usual pod sources yet
  8. Well put, Matt. That sums it up well. It was an oasis of territory era style wrestling in a sea of sports entertainment garbage. And it's pretty much passed, although they still have some great performers and fun moments. Oh well, nothing lasts forever
  9. Episode 77 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-77 October 8, 1983 "The Mongol just wants to beat off David Von Erich!" And Bill Rathke in the shower Everything else is underwhelming compared to those two massive peaks
  10. So did someone from WWE really call to cancel the show?
  11. Sounds like NXT talent is being criminally underpaid
  12. I've been a huge fan of WWE women's wrestling since the NXT revolution/huge Sasha fan and have never understood why that match was so overrated on this board when it happened. I mean, the praise was obnoxious and can't recall another match treated as such
  13. Promo for SD on Fox during the Redskins/Giants game leads to talk about Wrestlemania XI/1995 WWF with commentator Chris Spielman, who was in LT's corner against Bam Bam, name dropping Ted DiBiase and "Virgil the Bodyguard". New boom period coming!
  14. In Vancouver we get our US TV from Seattle, so looks like a no for me. Lame
  15. I dont think Fox is available over the air in Canada, but not 100% sure
  16. Ok, we are four days away from WWE vs AEW on Wednesday night. This is one of biggest weeks for wrestling (in North America anyway) in a while, with the WWE Fox premiere on Friday also a major story. As a Canadian, I'm a little pissed that no AEW viewing option has been announced at this late stage, but whatever, in 2019 it won't be hard to watch Dynamite if I really want to. I just prefer the convenience of a streaming option on Roku. Also, is Smackdown going to be on Hulu now that it's on Fox? Not that I want to watch weekly, but I wouldn't mind checking out the debut ep. Again, I'll find it if I really want to see it. Anyway, I'm pretty interested in seeing how all this plays out, the Wednesday war and SD on Fox. It's kinda neat that the decade began with the short-lived Monday night "war" between WWE and TNA (remember the hype for January 4, 2010? Seems like a lifetime ago considering how things have changed) and will end with another TV wrestling war, although this one seems to be much more serious. So let's be civil and talk about this
  17. Episode 76 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-76 October 1, 1983 The boys have reviewed a lot of fun, sometimes even great, shows over the last two years. This sure as shit isn't one of them... -25 minutes of reruns to start the program -John Mantell keeps riding the Superpush '83 (TM Kelly Nelson) train against Bill Rathke, who is now working the world's laziest cowboy gimmick -The Mongol starts bleeding and seemingly never stops -Do the Network edits of original music affect viewer enjoyment? -Not much of a main event between Brody and Hayes, but stay around for the post-match craziness!
  18. Times sure have changed on this board, as this was practically a year round debate earlier in the decade. I just want DeNucci in so Meltzer can do a bio on him
  19. I can't speak for everyone, but you should provide at least a basic description of what each episode is about if you expect someone to click on the ep
  20. World Cast of the Champions V: WWE Extreme Rules 2013 (Seriously) https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-of-the-champions-v-wwe-extreme-rules-2013-seriously May 19, 2013 During the recent PWO pledge drive one man stepped up and donated, by far, more $ than anyone else. To show their appreciation to that man, one Shawn Emily, the boys agreed to review a show of his choosing. Shawn chose a show close to his heart, one he attended live in St. Louis. So the boys hop into the Delorean and set the date for 2013. Get ready, folks. Get ready to go EXTREME! Get ready for WWE Extreme Rules 2013!!!!!
  21. I think right now it's a waiting game until the TV show starts to build up more interest and stimulate ticket sales. It's all well in good when they run a few major shows in a year, which makes each one must see. Once it becomes a weekly thing it's no longer an event and even the hardest of the hardcore won't keep coming out, or at least enough for constant sellouts, without something new to capture the publics attention. Still, I expect those shows to eventually sell out unless the TV completely fails to attract interest
  22. Just lock this thread. It's going nowhere except for right vs left bs and is barely about wrestling
  23. Another biased Canadian here, but the Victoria Pavilion in Calgary is a super-underrated historical wrestling venue imo. Built in 1919 and still standing, according to wrestlingdata it first held a show in 1931, last in 2013, and has hosted 1,309 shows in total. The home for about forty years of Stu Hart promoted/Stampede wrestling shows featuring a who's who of legendary performers, not to mention all the stars who passed through in the 30s and 40s pre-Stu
  24. Oh man, I so want that story to be true
  25. Episode 75 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-75 September 24, 1983 The boys review a strange, sweaty night in the Sportatorium, highlighted by... -A TIME LIMIT DRAW TO OPEN THE SHOW. HOW ORIGINAL -The John Mantell superpush continues unabated, with newcomer Coca Samoa(n) the latest victim -Terry Gordy and the dreaded ORIENTAL SPIKE -Look out, the ropes are slippery tonight! -And a main event more fitting for 1982, Kerry/Kevin vs Mr. Ebony/Mongol
