Another fun week of Power, with things moving at a breakneck pace. They really cram a ton into 50+ minutes. But even with the show moving fast, angle progression is slow and deliberate. A bunch of possible directions have been teased since the debut episode but things are parceled out in a way that leaves future direction uncertain, and that's a good thing. Really like Aldis and Drake. Tim Storm, although not featured today, is a such a fascinating story. Cornette is hilarious. Women's division needs work no doubt. Love this show

Yep. Need to rewire our brains and not see everything like WWE booking. That's what I love about AEW and Power, it's a fresh start without all the predictable topes at every turn

Better shoehorn those historical facts into more Fox programming asap

WWE TV 10/21 - 10/27 Brazil now has a black sea!

During the World Series telecast on Fox, Koloff defeating Sammartino for the "WWE championship" (whatever) given a shout out by Joe Buck with a graphic (the famous photo of Koloff coming off the top with a knee) as a memorable cultural moment from 1971 during a history of baseball in Washington (1971 was the year one of Washington's earlier teams left for Texas). Gotta love the cross promotion! -
Anyone know how many tix were made available for Full Gear? Sounds like it's getting close to a sellout. I just realized a few minutes ago that it's being held at what was formally the Baltimore Arena. That's cool, I didnt even know that building still existed. Lots of big wrestling moments happened there over the years
-
There was a brief shot of a cluster of empty seats opposite the hard camera while Cody was in the ring, but I have no idea if those were seats they actually sold tickets for or not. I dont recall Meltzer writing about a sellout in the Observer

The matches are all fine and good, but segments like tonight with Cody and pals vs the Inner Circle around the arena is what I love about AEW

World Cast: A WCCW Review
Ricky Jackson replied to Ricky Jackson's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Episode 78 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-78 October 15, 1983 The drive to the two big year end shows for WCCW is in full swing and the boys are enjoying the ride... -Introducing Sunshine's "Assistant". What impact will she have in the future? -The perfectly unmemorable career of Art Crews -Watch Kamala go from unstoppable animal to tamed beast in 20 minutes -Can't stop Superpush '83! (ok, I guess Chris Adams is pretty impressive too) -And David vs Garvin in the main event, with the Claw looking like the most dangerous hold in wrestling history -
Riho's awesome. Loved that match
-
The footage is apparently from Tri-States, which of course was the predecessor to Mid South, not Central States
-
Best part of the first two shows for me is the mysterious, mute Kamille and planting seeds of her eventual breakup with Aldis
-
It was a mostly fun weapons match, but far too long

The Arn Anderson podcast
Ricky Jackson replied to The Thread Killer's topic in Publications and Podcasts
I've listened to the first two eps and really enjoy the show. Arn's great, and we get a more serious side to Conrad. Good stuff -
Yeah, I didnt really have strong feelings towards the term "cosplay" before Power debuted and this thread started, but Jesus Christ, I HATE it now. Please stop. I'm an old school guy, in pretty much all forms of entertainment, not just wrestling, so maybe that helps me enjoy this show. If you're all about modern and the future, ok, this must be torture to watch, whatever. Personally, I thought the first show was great and I think this show has tons of promise. As for those who are upset the show hasn't been nitpicked or criticized enough...really? Yeah, that's what wrestling discourse in 2019 needs more of, bitching and complaining about every little thing. I mean, of course WWE deserves the pile on, but Power has released ONE SHOW, let's calm down a bit. If the presentation and "lack of stars" are a turn off, fine. But for some, it works and is a perfectly fine representation of pro wrestling
-
Yeah, this show was so much fun. They nailed the perfect balance between nostalgia and modern. Main was really good. Between this and Dynamite what great additions to the wrestling landscape, and damn it's really great to be a fan in 2019
-
I know NXT is yesterday's news and the clear second best Wednesday night show, but holy shit Walter vs Kushida from the latest ep was freaking great
-
Most fun I've had watching wrestling in ages. They've really got something here
-
Woooo that was so much fun
-
Dustin Motherfucking Rhodes!!!

Orange Cassidy. Hardest working wrestler in the biz

World Cast of the Champions VI: AWA SuperClash IV https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-of-the-champions-vi-awa-superclash-iv April 8, 1990 Damn the Network and their Hidden Gems constantly diverting the boys from the WCCW timeline! But who can resist the AWA's SuperClash IV from 1990? They can't, but oh man, they probably should have... Feast your eyes on... -The sad, depressing, and also quite funny, slow death of a once great promotion -A not-quite supercard level supercard -Gimmicks and wrestlers who would've been (and some who were) better suited for the 1970s -No JYD? No problem, here's The Clawmaster motherfuckers! -A bad Tully Blanchard match? Yep -A young Yokozuna as KOKINA MAXIMUS! -Larry Z vs Mr. Torture in an almost good match -Cage warfare, in which the star of the match is a retired football player, and not one of the good ones -And to top it off, 15 minutes of promos and outtakes, of varying quality -Can't wait for SuperClash V! -
Hell in a Cell 2019 - Card is not only subject to change, but is bound to
Ricky Jackson replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
Has there ever been a kayfabe attempt at explaining why there are always kendo sticks under the ring?
