  2. In the lead up to the Inoki match, Ali had two in the AWA from the Chicago Amphitheater, taped the same day I believe. I'm assuming those are the ones on YouTube you found Kenny Jay and Buddy Wolfe are the two I found. Yep, those are the two

  4. I'm not sure his day-to-day post-accident situation, but he did manage Dale Valentine (Buddy Roberts) in San Antonio in the late-70s and appeared on TV with arm-support crutches
  5. Episode 33 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-33 October 23, 1982 (WCCW 44) Michael Hayes is taking the territory by storm, but otherwise it's still same old, same old... -Ken "The Candyman" Mantell: Cockfighting Artist -Kabuki vs Good Ol' Al: Dudsville, USA -Kerry Von Erich's doctor: No Dr. Kildare, that's for sure -David Von Erich: 9 seconds in heaven World Cast: Next week we get Bam Bam, baby!
  6. You won't get any of that because it's Vader winning the strap back not Simmons winning
  7. Grew up lower middle class in Calgary in the 80s and 90s. Used to be a huge hockey fan and will always love the Flames (woooo 1989!), but living on the West coast for 13 years and removed from it all and my sports loving friends dulled my interest. Have slowly lost intetest in most sports tbh, and I used to be a crazy sports junkie. Still a HUGE fan of the NFL though and the Eagles (woooo Super Bowl champs!)
  8. I loved their three match series with the Hardy's. One of my favorite things from last year
  9. "Meet The Lugar Percy Pringle (Paul Bearer) introduces us to The Lugar (Lex Luger). (CWF TV - 10/16/1984)" This is how Luger debuted in Florida?
  10. I smoked cigarettes for about 18 years and quit 5 years ago. Smoked a ton of weed in my teens and twenties but very rarely anymore. Never touch pop but probably drink too much beer

I'm digging the new and improved Kona Reeves. Nice touches like DiBiase inspired offense and Ric Flair-style monogrammed trunks
  13. I appreciate your concern, but I posted in this thread and on Twitter that I would be on vacation and the show would be back May 16☺ Although it would've been hilarious if the show was just us reviewing the pre-Von Erich's vs Freebirds era that nobody gives a shit about
  14. Episode 32 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-32 October 16, 1982 (WCCW 43) If I leave here tomorrow Would you still remember me? For I must be traveling on, now Cause there's too many places I've got to see But, if I stayed here with you, girl Things just couldn't be the same Cause I'm as free as a bird now And this bird you can not change Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh And this bird you can not change And this bird you can not change Lord knows, I can't change... World Cast: MICHAEL FUCKING HAYES!!!

  18. ...and only those who are part of the fb group can see the video. Sorry for the tease, but joining shouldn't be that difficult
  19. A major holy grail of mine has just surfaced, or at least partial footage of it. Spiros Arion's heel turn on Chief Jay Strongbow from, I think, December 1974, which led to one of the all-time biggest feuds in the WWWF, Sammartino vs Arion. Footage was apparently filmed off TV with an 8mm camera https://www.facebook.com/TommygunVIdeo/videos/10156317301190030/
  20. I grew up on WWF from the late 80s and early 90s and I think Jake is safely number 3 behind Hogan and Warrior (Savage in 87/88). His programs were much more important than anything Beefer had going for him, besides the team with Hogan. Demolition would be 4, or Piper after his comeback maybe. Beefer at 6 sounds about right. He was really over, but so were a lot of guys. The roster was crazy deep

  22. As far as I can tell, Vince Sr was very much like his son (or more accurately, Vince Jr is very much like his father): in charge of booking the big picture programs, but also having a crew of people helping in different ways, such as Gorilla Monsoon in Pennsylvania/Deleware for example. None of this has ever really been properly documented though
  23. Kayfabe version in my own head: In an Ironman match, best to submit early so as not to have too much damage done to whatever part is being worked on, hence quicker recovery time for the guy giving up the fall. Plus it gets the bad guy's submission hold over a bit, since it actually works on a top opponent for once. I always looked at a submission in a multiple fall match like that. They are rare rare events to happen to top end babyfaces in one fall matches. Martel submitting the AWA title to Hansen always come to my mind, and in the sense that the match itself is nothing special, it did the job of making it memorable outside of the title change portion. I've always been curious to the finish of Martel vs Hansen for the AWA title. Any insight why they booked Martel to submit to Hansen, khawk? Strange finish for a babyface. Was Martel done completely with Verne and the AWA after that night?
