  1. Oh I'm sure it won't be a problem considering the material
  2. I'm no fan of Mauro's commentary, believe me, but seeing him mark out like crazy while commentating is cool. Percy too https://twitter.com/WWE/status/984144841427664896?s=09
  3. Episode 31 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-31 October 9, 1982 (WCCW 42) With Michael Hayes' arrival imminent, World Class bottoms out with a turd of a show. Don't get me wrong, the vignette chronicling Bill Mercer's complex relationship with Gary Hart/Mercer interviewing Hart and THE Checkmate at H & H Enterprises HQ is fascinating, must-watch stuff. It's just that the actual wrestling is turgid, featuring... -Brian Adidas working a "clopen" shift -Bugsy still refusing to wear men's sized shorts -David Von Erich perfecting the "David finish" World Cast: Nowhere to go but up!
  4. I think they just booked a worked-shoot to work the smart fans. Postmodern 2018 pro wrestling
  5. A Wrestlemania full of surprises and one classic match (Rousey tag). Charlotte vs Asuka was great too but I'm sad to see the streak end. I'm still a mark for shit like that
  6. Cena vs Taker was basically the ultimate smoke and mirrors match. That's why it wasn't officially announced ahead of time. It wasn't supposed to be a "real" match, just a Wrestlemania moment, and better than Taker struggling through some long and sloppy match like last year
  7. Ok, now it's the greatest Wrestlemania ever, forget the last three hours this clinched it
  8. Best HHH match ever
  9. Best match of the weekend
  10. Randomly picked this match to honor Johnny V, and oh boy I'm glad I did. Where to begin? Well, Johnny Valiant takes an epic ass kicking from Bob, a shine that goes on for 14 MINUTES AND VALIANT DOESN'T REMOVE HIS RING JACKET THE WHOLE TIME! Next, the transition to Valiant on offense is Bob screwing up a hold and accidently knocking himself silly on the ropes. Yes, Valiant doesn't even initiate the transition. I don't think I've ever seen that before. Then we get a decent beatdown on Bob before the All American Boy rallies for the win. Great stooging heel performance by Valiant. RIP "Macho" (as it says on the back of his tights)
  11. Update from the playlist I posted on page 1: Blassie vs Rikidozen from 1962 LA is awesome for those interested. Also, Bockwinkel and Whalen's post match interaction is gold
  12. I kinda feel the same way, or at least I did as the show was going on and immediately after. I mean, it was obviously a great show with multiple great matches, yet I felt kinda underwhelmed after it was over. I've liked other Takeovers more for sure. Thinking about it today I really liked the show and feel more strongly about the matches. The Roddy turn didn't make any sense imo and the ladder and main suffered from excess, but that's the wrestling world we live in today. Maybe I'm burning out a bit on NXT
  13. Oh Missy... Yep, totally love that poster. I remember it being in a copy of WCW magazine I had
  14. Main card could be great, but after being burned two years in a row, I'm avoiding the pre-show this time. Instead, my pal Sean (Shrike02) and I are going to watch a playlist of old school stuff I've put together this morning before the main card starts. Feel free to join in https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLV6RCTo_Cd0CxLuBAFyRpGlyK-7DE3oYg Last match is Backlund vs the late Johnny Valiant from The Spectrum
  15. Great show as usual. What a run NXT has been on
  16. Awesome squash match alert: Crusher Blackwell vs Frankie Williams with Vince at his best as well, also from 9/23/78
  17. Good match alert: Larry Z and his wonderful moustache vs Stan Stasiak 9/23/78
  18. HUGE card tonight, perhaps the most stacked Takeover yet. Gargano vs Ciampa should be great, Almas vs Black should deliver, ladder match will have crazy heat and could be a ridiculous spotfest clustermess of a match, and tag and women's match should also be good. Can't wait!
  19. They taped a few weeks of TV from the Steel Pier in Atlantic City in the summer of 79. Not sure if it was for a local Atlantic City TV show or if it aired everywhere in the territory. The matches were comnentated by Monsoon years before he became a regular commentator. Cawthon's site also has Bruno commentating solo for one of the tapings. The matches I've seen from the tapings are interesting, with no jobber matches, just matches between pushed guys, plus a midget tag. I remember DiBiase vs Valentine being good. For fans of the late Titans of Wrestling podcast, DiBiase and Andre vs Scicluna and Jerry Valiant was a legendary controversial match, with Parv calling it a classic, Johnny and Pete hating it, and me being in the middle
  20. Strategically placed announcement obviously, and perhaps the final piece of the boo Lesnar, cheer Roman puzzle. History may repeat itself 14 years later for Lesnar
  21. Also, can the title of this thread please finally be fixed ☺
  22. Conrad's new gimmick of saying something away from the mic multiple times per ep is as annoying as hell
  23. RIP Johnny V
  24. Yeah, TSN broadcast the ESPN show. Not sure about the Winnipeg footage, that was before my time, but I think there was some kind of TSN exclusive wrestling show? Khawk would know
