World Cast: A WCCW Review

Episode 19 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-19 July 10, 1982 (WCCW 29) The boys ring in 2018 discussing a very good episode of WCCW TV. Things get off to an auspicious start with a turgid match out of the gate (if you are a fan of star babyface referee David Manning this one is for you), but then we get some really out there vignettes followed by an amazing PENALTY BOX MATCH between Kerry/Kevin and Kabuki/Dragon!!! Definitely one of the best matches we've seen so far, folks. World Cast and Wednesdays: Better than Peanut Butter and Jelly, and meant to last forever, like Sonny and Cher -
Asuka and Nak winning would be an awesome story. My gut says that's unrealistic, but I don't have a better prediction. I don't watch the weekly tv so I have no idea who is even considered the men's favorite

Of course they're going over the top. Why wouldn't they?

"Interesting", such as...? -
That's some lazy typing with the thread title Mick 😉

Meltzer wrote this in the latest Observer "To show how bad things are in Puerto Rico, WWC has still not run a show since the island was crippled by the hurricane. CWA has run two shows since the hurricane and WWL is talking about coming back in February or March. The hurricane basically destroyed a wrestling industry that had been having regular shows for about 45 years" Just a very sad story. Of course, the state of the wrestling industry is secondary to the impact on society. Hope long time conributor El Boricua is doing well in spite of the disaster

Yeah, totally underrated venue. Built in, I believe, 1919 and still standing, so coming up on its 100th anniversary. Hosted wrestling cards as far back as at least the early 30s, nearly twenty years before Stu began running shows there

Victoria Pavilion in Calgary, 1964. Sweet Daddy Siki as top heel before a crowd of prairie rednecks would probably be pretty fun
-
Yeah, that's a tough call. Storyline wise, he should probably be the guy to unseat Almas at the Mania weekend Takeover. My gut says he goes to the main roster after Mania though

World Cast: A WCCW Review

Episode 0 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-0-1981-christmas-star-wars-xmas-special December 25, 1981 (Link to show: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9HIb3xzfEnlTFZ3cWpld0VwT1E/view?usp=sharing) Santa Claus is real folks, and this morning he just dropped a special World Cast episode for all the good boys and girls out there! Pete, Kelly and Johnny couldn’t get enough of the, shall we say, lesser elements of 1982 WCCW, so they decided to dip into 1981 and really wallow in the muck. Marvel at a not so exciting brass knuckles title match, a not so light challenger for the light heavyweight title, a not so easy to follow two ring 6-man tag team match, a not so impressive Texas Death match, and, yet again, a not so great battle royal. But the boys have the Christmas spirit and, like they always do, make watching a crummy show a whole lot of fun. Merry Christmas and thanks for listening to World Cast in 2017! -
The Only board that matters. Best place for discussion. Most of my Facebook friends are people I met on PWO (only a slight exaggeration) and it's responsible for all the hundreds of hours of podcasting I've done in the last nearly five years. Merry Christmas everyone

Episode 18 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-18-star-wars-the-super-bowl-of-wrestling-review June 4, 1982 (WCCW 25, 26 & part of 28) Forget about trying to get tickets to that movie and join Pete, Kelly and Johnny for a double-sized look at Star Wars: The Super Bowl of Wrestling/Fritz Von Erich's Retirement Show, from a,..ahem...relatively well-attended Texas Stadium! The boys look at a crazy good ladies match, a hollow match featuring legendary luchadores, a contender for worst battle royal ever, an epic battle between Kerry Von Erich and Harley Race, and, of course, the "Immortal" Fritz Von Erich vs King Kong Bundy in a (the first ever?) Falls Count Anywhere match. So grab a seat (there are thousands to choose from) and join us for another wacky episode of World Cast! -
Im totally down with exploring the history of the Studd Slam Challenge from 82-83 since Titans went kaput just as we were starting that

I think Dick Graham legit thought Tama was Haku and vice versa for the entirety of the Islanders run

Which ones? Just the regular week to week tv? -
Takeover Brooklyn gets my vote based on just watching the Takeovers and WWE ppvs. War Games was very good too. I know I enjoyed a lot of the WWE shows but damn if i can recall any specific one off the top of my head. I remember the horrible bloated ones more

I loved the double ref tag. Just a good old school wrestling style angle-match. One of the better writers must be in charge of that storyline because pretty much everything else here is uninspired. I couldnt even be bothered to watch the main, even though I love AJ, because who the fuck cares about Jinder challenging after he's lost every match for the last month
