  1. Episode 22 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-22 July 31, 1982 (WCCW 32) The TV may be subpar lately but the boys are still having a blast. How can you not when you have such highlights as: -Kerry emasculating a jobber -The first nominee for the comedy match hall of fame -Roberto Renesto modeling some of the worst wrestling tights ever seen -Kevin vs Bill Irwin in a main event we've probably seen at least twice already World Cast: Next week we get to talk about Ric Flair!
  2. Great show. Great weekend. 2018 has been pretty fucking cool so far
  3. I thought the drama of the arm bar was great. It's pro wrestling, unrealisic long submission holds have been around probably since Gotch and Hackenschmidt

Main event felt all time great, or at least best of the century so far great. I'm not a consistent star guy, but I'm throwing ***** on it. The overall story of Gargano's post DIY self journey, prior history between the two, nuclear crowd, great false finishes, and great drama add up to one of the classics of modern WWE produced wrestling. Great show overall. I really enjoyed the tag and Black vs Cole was pretty good, but I really, really liked Moon vs Baszler. They finally made Moon a sympathetic babyface. Loved the finish. Baszler's great. Real face and heel heat in that match, and in the main too. Maybe there is hope in the future after all. Also, really lazy not to create a thread for this guys.☺
  5. How about Roman showing up in drag and winning. That would stick it to those smart marks
  6. Yep, haven't you heard what Meltzer said, Roman will win every Rumble and main event every Mania going forward until he retires or dies, whichever happens first
  7. Episode 21 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-21 July 24, 1982 (WCCW 31) The boys are back on Earth WCCW to review a hopelessly mundane episode of World Class! Bugsy is now full on Mr. Wacko, and spending far too much time with the youth of Dallas. Good Ol' Al botches a figure-4 leglock like you wouldn't believe. We get a workout session with Kabuki and Magic Dragon that may or may not include Kabuki. And finally, a non-title match (not sure for which belts exactly) between Kerry/Kevin and Bundy/Irwin. Strap yourself in for another wild ride on World Cast!
  8. Haha...I really wish I could tell you that we have more Imaginary Stories coming up but it's been almost a year since the last one and I have no idea when we may finally get around to it. The plan was to do one on early 80s Firestorm but it has never materialized. The problem, and why we never recorded very regularly, was that going back and re-reading the issues was (for me at least) time consuming. We never wanted to half ass it and just go on our faded memories. It's funny, because Johnny and I talked about it after recording the Mid Atlantic show and decided if we ever brought it back we would start over with a new #1 (just like the comics) and call it Fantasy Masterpieces this time Anyone curious what exactly Imaginary Stories is, since we never plugged it here because of the whole pro wrestling only thing, the full archive is here https://archive.org/details/@frank_williams Johnny and I talked about classic comic books like New Teen Titans, Fantastic Four, What If...? (of course) and also Archie and Dick Tracy, so if you are interested give them a listen. We had a great time doing these
  9. I have 7 guys from their top 10 in my top 10. Flair at 11 makes no sense, but Tito at 101 is just plain insulting
  10. I agree, such a tease. But I guess this is all the $ they can throw at something most fans, sadly, don't care about
  11. Does Thunder really warrant being "long awaited"? I don't recall too many stand out moments from the first year or so I watched in real time
  12. World Cast What If...? https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-what-if-mid-atlantic-9121981 September 12, 1981 (Mid Atlantic 1) From the Blue Area of the Moon, the Watcher turns his gaze to an alternate reality where the boys chose Mid Atlantic over World Class. The talent roster is much deeper, the commentary way better, the in-ring action a lot faster, the jobbers less jobbery---it's 1981 in the Carolina's! Follow along on the WWE Network and enjoy a really fun special edition of World Cast!
  13. Yeah, my main complaint about Mid Atlantic after going through a half dozen episodes is that everybody seems to be feuding with everybody and nothing stands out. Sgt. Slaughter's progress from debuting, quickly winning the US title, and then recruiting Jim Nelson and doing the full drill sargeant routine on him is a ton of fun though
  14. Some is in rough shape but there is a bunch out there in good quality. KrisZ's YouTube channel has a ton
  15. Oh for sure, Memphis was awesome and had the most enjoyable TV show. But I think Mid Atlantic had a deeper pool of full time talent and bigger business. It's close. Georgia is also in the conversation
  16. Oh the dubs are awful. Come on Vince, forget about football and for the love of God open up the wallet and pay for the music rights! Really good match between Piper and Jay Youngblood on the 10/17/81 show
  17. I think Mid Atlantic TV in 1981 comes off far more polished than WWF, WCCW and AWA and several other territories for sure. Actually, I think you could make the argument that overall--talent, in-ring, promos, business, TV--Mid Atlantic was the most well rounded territory going at the time
  18. Well, it's going to be a one off "special" rather than an ongoing show. That said, it would be great if people with podcast aspirations followed our lead and started shows based on the Mid Atlantic footage on the Network, or Mid South, etc.
  19. Haha...not quite, but be on the lookout for a Mid Atlantic show from an alternate reality to drop shortly
  20. 3 more fell for me--Dom, Rodz, and Blair--but somehow I wasn't the high voter for any of them
  21. Episode 20 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-20 July 17, 1982 (WCCW 30) A controversial episode of WCCW where referee David Manning emerging as the #4 babyface in the territory drives Johnny to the brink of uncontrollable rage, and he nearly relinquishes his hard won "Mr. Positivity" title as a result. In other news, we have jobbers galore, THE SUPERFLY, a surprising Elvis aficionado, and Good Ol' Al trying his damnedest to squeeze an extra half star out of Bill Irwin (he does manage to squeeze a lot of blood from his own head). World Cast: Five months until the good shit!
  22. No, Sleeze. I regret not voting for Martin. I guess I'm not as progressive as I think I am 😜
  23. Virgil is my only guy to drop yet. I've likely single handedly boosted several of the 70s era wrestlers, haha
  24. Ric Flair won and not enough people voted for lucha guys
