  1. So how many super-heavyweights are better than Henry? Does it come down to Vader and Blackwell? Andre? I could see someone saying the Big Show but I'm not sure I'd agree.
  2. You and I were watching two different shows. I didn't think the Rock was better than Punk or anything, but Punk seemed so....blase about it. I get that's his thing and he thinks he's the best in the world and stuff, but he was scared to death of Ryback at HIAC and carried whatever was good in that match with his facials and stuff. This was the big Rock WWE title shot and Punk really didn't make it feel like that. Not that it's all up to him to do that, but he's a part of it. The Rumble had some neat stuff past halfway like the Kane/Danielson thing, but once you have Mistico and the Miz and Ryback coming out I just couldn't care any more. The final few was done pretty well, but I had no investment in it. Or you were right and I was watching Spongebob Squarepants.
  3. I didn't think Rock looked too bad, I actually thought Punk looked pretty worthless. At least for most of it. Looked like he didn't give a shit for so much of the time. I didn't like Cena/Rock a good deal but preferred it to this; I really didn't think this was any good at all. The Rumble itself was mostly fun until we got past the #20 slot or so. Got pretty standard after that and I was bored to death by the end of it. Favourite thing of the show was probably Goldust. I can only hope they plunk him on Superstars.
  4. That dude's channel has a pretty nutty amount of WWC.
  5. The 12/16/96 Psicosis match may be the best Nitro match ever. I liked that Sting/DDP from 99 an awful lot, but other than that, I can't think of anything better. The crowd are shockingly hot for it too. I should randomly watch a bunch of Regal on TV for this thread. Searching for the Psic match found me a six minute Juvi match that I cannot pass up.

  7. Also had the awesome black and orange gear.
  8. Yeah, first thought when looking at the idea of Backlund v Blackwell was "for fuck's sake". I should just try my best to get any kind job in WWE, ask to see that match, and quit.
  9. I like the Steiners. Their matches with the highest praise (v Bret/Owen, v Hase/Sasaki, v Luger/Sting) actually don't do a whole lot for me, but I fucking love a lot of their other matches. I think the Gordy/Williams, Nasty Boys, and Quebecers tags are much better than their matches with the highest praise.

  11. I'm listening to each of these shows over the next [(how ever long it will be)], and this one was really spectacular. Made me want to see all the FBI footage out there and I'm totally pissed off that there isn't any footage of "Madam Xandu". Tranny la Parka? Fuck off. There HAS to be a tape of it. The idea of a paper boys gimmick with them throwing their defeated opponent into the crowd wrapped up made me laugh my head off. Also.....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQJpEXhM7qk
  12. Yeah, July is a good lead-in which is why I suggested it, but I've always though the August match was a MOTYC. That needs to go on 1000%.
  13. I'd throw in the 7/29/99 Ishikawa v Ikeda.
  14. What I don't understand about lucha names are some being in English. "Blue Panther"? Why not "Azul Pantera" (or whatever the actual translation would be if that isn't it)?
  15. I got excited and thought someone was wrestling with an EarthBound gimmick.
  16. Savage match at Slamboree and DDP match at (Something) in 1998 were matches I liked a lot, but they aren't great. I wouldn't say he any GREAT matches in WCW, including anything with Benoit. The Owen Tribute is good, but too "your turn, my turn" for me.
  17. I didn't think Hashimoto/Takada was anything close to 96 MOTY, but it was great. Hashimoto sweeping Takada's leg is probably one of my favourite spots in history.
  18. I fucking adore Spring Stampede 1994 and am not sure I can say I've seen a better show than that. Jack/Sullivan v Nastys, Vader v Bossman, Rhodes v Buck, Flair v Steamboat are all really great matches.

  20. Last time I saw it I thought Hashimoto/Kawada 2/22/04 was MOTY and the best Japanese match of the 2000s. I don't know if I'd think the same if I watched it again, but I don't doubt I'd say it was really fucking great.
  21. I think at this point Misawa, Kawada and Fujiwara are the only Japanese wrestlers I'd have above Hash. I probably should have Tenryu there, but, I kinda don't. I think he and Hash are fairly lateral.
  22. I just finished watching the show a half hour ago and it was fun top to bottom. I kinda wanted Bucks/Druggys to end after a while but London looked good and is a guy I wouldn't mind watching in 2013 a few times. Gallows needs every match of his to make youtube. Or, better yet, a WWE rehiring. Why fire him? I don't get it. He should be in Wade Barrett's position right now, and could pull off Barrett's gimmick approximately fifty seven thousand times better than Barrett. Just approximately. I can't think of a Rhino match I like more than the Callihan match, but Rhino isn't a guy I've sought a lot of. Man Sami's output of good this year was pretty nuts.
  23. Is it hyperbolic to say WWE ECW in 2009 was one of the most consistent shows at producing good matches, possibly ever? Maybe it helps that I'm not a guy who typically watches full shows, but I find myself wanting to with ECW that year. I spent time a couple months back watching every match Christian had that year (though I'm not done yet) and it's kind of staggering how good his matches week after week were. Throw in Finlay, Bourne, Henry, Goldust, Regal and other dudes who weren't always wrestling Christian and there are a great fuckton of good matches during that time.
  24. Sid's promos on the 92 yearbook impressed the hell out of me. He was basically the type of dominant big man on the mic that you want a guy like that to be. I was shocked at how coherent they were, and if I were watching it at the time with this mindset I would have been somewhat amped for Sid/Hogan because of the promos.
  25. Nobody's mentioned Pirata Morgan
