Hey JVK, how have you been? Watch anything good lately?

Has wrestling gone overboard with the various streaming services?
WingedEagle replied to rzombie1988's topic in Pro Wrestling
Time will tell, but it doesn't seem prudent for a service that caters to such a niche audience to go out of its way to offend said audience. -
I will remain a broken record on this -- Charlotte needs to be a heel. Absolute aces in that role, while as a babyface she's not even insincere enough to get any heat for performances. Just nothing to care about.

I was reading the Voices of Wrestling Best Matches of 2017 list and was just shocked to see the Kushida/Ospreay BOSJ match wind up at like #8. Obviously it’s just my bias but there’s no way I could make a serious MOTY list and include an Ospreay match on it. I even liked that match (preferred the 1/4/17 one, actually) but it definitely made me realize that I am out of touch, as well (though I know VoW mainly is a NJPW-centric site). I'm generally with you on that point and haven't been a big fan of Ospreay since he began packing in the flips, screaming and cursing with little regard for anything else in his matches. But that Kushida match was legitimately excellent.

Steph hasn't exactly shown herself willing or able to bump for stunners, take a bedpan over the head or otherwise take her comeuppance along the way. That's without delving into whether she and Rousey can generate chemistry similar to two all time great personalities and promo men.

What'd I miss?

Double the Roman? I'm in.

She was working a sexist angle, which works better against a man than against the female Glorious Benevolent Feminist Mother of the Women's Revolution. If Sasha and Bayley have a match on the fucking pre show I'm gonna go postal. They were supposed to main event this fucking thing. Fuck WWE.

Pretty stacked lineup tonight, but we'll see what gets time and an opportunity to deliver. Solid start with Roman carrying Bray to his best singles match in ages.

Agreed. Tough to complain about losing something for free, but the RH Archive has been vital to staying on top of big matches from most promotions in Japan through the years. I wonder if promotions like DG, Noah, and many joshi offices will completely fall off the western radar if this goes away. Are there even other outlets for those groups?

Does anyone know if/when Suzuki & ZSJ vs. Bate & Seven from the January 20 RPW show will be posted to NJ World? The Sanada/Evil tag from that show is already up so I was curious if the Suzuki/ZSJ tag is being held up for some reason.

Thanks, looking forward to hopefully checking it out this weekend. I teed up one of my favorite TV matches from Horsemen era TV with Tully Blanchard vs. Tim Horner. Link below. Enjoy!

Haha I said I needed to watch it again! Also worried I'm now going in expecting the GOAT match -- all your fault!

Cole's a strange one to me in that he's almost always an absolute bore and aside from popping the crowd with a BAYBAY here and there, his look and act rarely fail to rise above tolerable boredom. That being said, the man unquestionably delivers in plunder brawls. He was great against Black, as well as in a terrific Final Battle brawl against O'Relly a few years back. But straight wrestling? Not so much. Accentuate the positive: let the man deliver his brand of CZW-lite at every turn.

I really need to rewatch the women's Rumble. In the moment, I thought the nostalgia was great and they did a terrific job pushing certain individuals. There were a bunch of other moments I remember being a big fan of, but also found myself stuck on how many frequent and prolonged breaks various stars would take where they just disappear. That, along with the action between Asuka & Nikki at the finish brought it down a bit for me. But I may very much have been nitpicking about the breaks and power naps that seemed to be happening during the match and look forward to revisiting it in the days or weeks ahead.

Rumors that Mania 35 will soon be confirmed as taking place in NY. Which means I can probably drag the wife to one or two events and justify flying solo at as many others as I can make time for. Might be able to convince a friend or 2 to go to the big show, but will be quite easy to justify going to almost anything without the added expense of flights & hotels. Already pumped!

I don't. Always liked him and thought he was strong and consistent over an incredibly long period. But if I had to rank my top 100 matches, maybe even 200, I don't know if he'd have many, if any, appearances. Perhaps I place undue weight on home runs, but he's very much a singles and doubles guy in my book.

This has been one hell of a Raw. Miz/Reigns was another unsurprisingly very good match, even with a weak finish. Sasha/Asuka was pretty damn great even if that crowd didn't care until Sasha tried to die for our entertainment. A legit PPV quality match. And we've still got Cena/Finn to come. By the way, Finn needs to go heel ASAP. He's going to be awesome when that happens.

Stop it. You're literally going to make me think a Rumble I liked was the greatest match of all time. Legitimately afraid to rewatch it at this point.
-
I'm in, but not always the best at making time for it. Last week was tough!
-
Yep. Reading that post was just as much fun as watching the match. Yes!
-
Ronda smiling and pointing wasn't the best look. I'm pretty sure they'll make it work but Mike Tyson this was not.
-
That was a pretty anticlimactic finish.
-
That power nap did not work out well for Nia. Mickie & Trish looked terrific together. And Trish just looked terrific.

Goddamn it. I was sure Tamina was winning or dying via her elimination. No dice.
