Dustin was the first person that came to mind when I read the thread title. Goldust's ECW run was the comeback none of us knew we wanted until it happened.

WWE TV 08/12 - 08/18 Poop every other day to stop global warming
fakeplastictrees replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
Who would be in the group? I wouldn't be opposed to the idea. Maybe an "Evolution" style grouping of women. Medusa, Charlotte Flair, and perhaps two women from NXT with tons of upside that are not top draws right now, but have amazing potential. -
I couldn't imagine anyone breaking down the doors to work with the NWA. Does the NWA bring anything to the table? Aldis, Storm, Drake, and Kay are great players to fill out the bench, not to start. If the NWA really wants to stand out they need to look completely different that everything else. Super indie with a TV deal isn't going to work in 2019 as ROH and Impact have shown.

WWE TV 07/22 - 07/28 RAW Reunion! Candice Michelle is back!!!
fakeplastictrees replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
So what are the WWE reunion showisms? - A backstage segment that breaks into dancing or some other 'entertaining' hijinx that is interrupted by Ron Simmons. - Wrestlers and personalities from the past standing on stage and waving to the fans. - WWE showing the same video packages and photographs they do for all of the reunion/anniversary shows. - Stone Cold giving someone a stunner. - The Boogeyman will scare someone. - A current team/wrestler that is lukewarm (at best) or completely cold (which is most likely) will job to one or more members of the past roster. - A random Diva segment in the back where the women are talking and that is used to setup a match between two current workers. A match we have seen a million times. - Lilian Garcia will perform ring announcing duties for one or more matches while the current ring announcer enjoys Titus Catering's Monday special. Am I missing anything? -
Tony dedicated an entire WHW episode to his time in WWF. IIRC, he enjoyed and only really left due to money. There might have been some other factors, I can't remember at this time, but overall it was a positive experience for Tony.

WWE TV 07/15 - 07/21 Flipping burgers to become Ambassador

Rollins winning would be absolutely terrible. Big E. vs. Brock Lesnar is the only correct outcome. -
I like the approach of a little something for everyone. Doing that, starting out, will give the company a good gauge of what is and isn't working. I've enjoyed both shows thus far. My biggest complaint with AEW right now is the focus on 'having good matches'. It's the same complaint I have with WWE. The wrestling has ventured away from a struggle and more into silly choreography up and down the card. That's "fine" with me. However, I would hear the wrestler state that they want to win matches, beat people up, and cash checks. MJF did an interview backstage after FF and in that interview he mentioned that whenever the fans see him, they will see an amazing match. Not him coming out with the win or humbling his opponents. An amazing match. Keeping tracks of wins and loses is a good concept, but the wrestlers will need to care as well and that should be reflected in promos. Having one or two guys on the roster who wants to 'steal the show' is all well and good, but everyone cannot cosplay as Dolph Ziggler. Someone has to be there for championships and checks.

WWE TV 7/1 - 7/7 The Return of the Return of Heyman and Bischoff
fakeplastictrees replied to Flyin' Brian's topic in WWE
We are approaching the nine o'clock hour and Raw has been a hit thus far. Drake Maverick and Ron Killings interactions, to no one's surprise, have been gold all night. -
Salina is not my cup of tea, but I can see why some find her attractive. A bigger question, has MLW created any bonafide stars since its return? I am talking about people who can be considered originals as it doesn't seem as Martinez, Brazil, Reed, etc. have taken off in any real capacity.

I would love to live in the ROH and WWE Wrestling Bubble for just 6 months. I want to see how the shit sausage is made. This has gone beyond 'smarks being smarks'. If you look at WWE stock, Saudi show money, and the NBC & Fox billion dollar deals-- everything is fine. I would love for Vince to do an 'undercover boss' episode with the fans. Put on makeup, etc. and go sit with regular fans for all the Raws and Smackdowns for 3-6 months. Sit in the cheap seats. Make small talk and take mental notes. I think it will change the product (for the better?).

As always, all the best Mr. TK! I'm surprised WWE didn't even attempt to gimmick the ring like they did for Mania 29 (?). Outside of Taker wearing his usual gimmick, I am surprised others decided wearing all black was the right call for the evening. Ziggler wearing black vinyl tights in 100 degree heat while receiving zero level of interest from the crowd is everything you need to know about 2019 Dolph Ziggler. The overall tone of the show was set once Seth finished his routine entrance only to remove his shirt and begin making ouchie faces. Putting smiles on the face of every member of the WWE Universe > selling bruised ribs that are a huge part of a world title angle. I thought the temperature would keep HHH and Orton to a snug 10 minute match. Nope! HHH is going to HHH. Almas and Balor working hard to zero reaction was a sight to see. And the main event was something else. There is no way either of those guys left the ring without some level of a concussion. A shoot headbutt into the post, a shoot brainbuster, and a shoot Tombstone. Goldberg is now crying on Twitter.

WWE TV 6/3 - 6/9 NOBODY CARES, AEW IS COMING.

WWE chooses Nattie and Alex out of the entire WWE women's roster? Might have come down to who was willing to go. -

Bryan, Truth, Kofi, and who else? Everyone is cold. Kofi is cooling as WWE doesn't have any real plans for him expect for him to celebrate his title April win during the month of June. It's slim pickings. -
Employees or contractors? Serious question. I'd be shocked if CFO left. JJ has already reached peak carny levels, so I highly doubt he is leaving and already has a job waiting for him in AEW. Dutt, Diavari, Abyss, Pearce, TJ, and others are pretty much locked in. Ryan Ward would be a shocker, but I can't think of anyone else.

Moxley becoming a "Cancer Truther" and taking cues from Meltzer's Twitter antics would have been both amazing and completely sad to see.

Contra are great heels. They aren't boring and on one wants to see them win. When I saw MLW live, Contra tried to set a few of the wrestlers on fire. No cute sayings. No winking to the crowd. No ironic bullshit. Just good old fashioned heels that everyone wants to see get their asses kicked.

WWE TV 5/27-6/2 RAW IS WILL VINCE RESIST TAKING SHOTS AT AEW
fakeplastictrees replied to sek69's topic in WWE
Its 2019. Its amazing that WWE employees listen to the live audience and stop there. Its lazy to stand in the back and hear the crowd boo Corbin and ignore all other factors. WWE has a social media system that captures all the social media feedback across all the popular platforms. I am sure if they just searched "Baron Corbin" very few positive things will come back and the word "boring" will appear more than once. I don't think Corbin should be given his walking papers, but I wonder what's this thing some people have with him. Even online, people are quick to point out that he is 'doing his job' as a heel because we don't like him. Growing up, I didn't like Flair, Rude, Cactus Jack, and others. But I never turned the channel because I wanted to see the good guys kick their butts. People don't want to see Corbin win or lose. They just don't want to see him and that's mainly because WWE decided to over push the guy. Put Corbin somewhere in the mid-card as the mouthpiece of AOP and things get instantly better for him. Have Corbin be the muscle for Drew Gulak and it will instantly be a better role than he is currently occupying. Hell, a Corbin/Mojo team , if done correctly, would have legs on Main Event and Superstars. -

Baron Corbin in the main event and picking up a 'W'. AEW's TNT show cannot come soon enough. -
Reby liked one of the tweet's announcing Ashley's death.

IIRC, WWE cut the lights while Foley was in the ring talking about the new title. I guess people started leaving.

I would love for all the Saudi shows to be the self contained pit of matches, promos, and antics no one watches to see. Romain vs. Shane, Corbin vs. anyone, Ucey hot, Titus O'Neil promos about staying employed for ten years while doing jack squat on the main roster, Seth Rollins, etc. Keep it all in hell.
-
Terrible ending. Ali looks like a complete geek. 16 years. The ups and downs. The blood, sweat, and tears. All for what? So he can stand there slack-jawed for 8 seconds while Lesnar runs to the ring? He had his hands on the briefcase. Ready to take it down, but the entrance music stopped him dead in his tracks? I guess grabbing the briefcase isn't that important?

I am in the same boat as @WingedEagle. I'm not going to pretend to be the Silver King expert, but he was part of my growing fandom in the mid 90's. Silver King was one of the first non-Vader sized 'big man' I saw working that style. I always liked seeing him perform in WCW. I watched all the lucha matches from Nitro and Silver King's speed and technique is still amazing. A very sad way to go. He left us doing what he loved so much and what brought happiness to so many around the world for decades. Absolutely amazing.
