Before he got the concussion they were building to a Sheamus and/or Ziggler program for Bryan after Barrett. He'd probably tried to get a program with Cesaro too but who knows if he had kept the belt by that point or WWE would've actually booked that feud. The most interesting "what if" of his IC reign to me is him being able to convince WWE to book the Nakamura IC champ vs IC champ match he wanted for their Japan Tour (that ended up having a Network Special). They did it with Christian before they did it with Bryan.

Also, I'm I the only one kinda surprised Rollins hasn't had much backlash for this ratings and "meh" house show numbers? I get he's Hunter's guy but it's still weird seeing a guy with his backround not having enemies in the back that are feeding Keller, Johnson and Meltzer stories about the company having doubts about him as their top guy like they did with Punk and Bryan. On the other hand, I'm glad we are past that kinda discussion and it's almost consensus that no matter who's on top, if the product is as stale as it has been it's almost impossible to get good results. But still, kinda weird there's no noise about it. Bring back Jeff Hardy and clear Daniel Bryan? No clue if that would work at all ratings wise - and putting aside the fact that both those things are highly unlikely to happen - but I'm not sure who they can rely on to give the roster and their product a refreshing boost.

It's their fault they don't have another dude they can rely on to draw with the IC belt though. Why not give it to Ibushi who has proven to be a draw for them and let him have long run with it? Hell there's a nice story between him and Nakamura as passing of the torch type of thing that could be done in the Dome. Instead they put him with the NEVER title, make him job and we get ANOTHER Goto/Nakamura match. New Japan booking is as conservative and unimaginative as WWE's and we shit on WWE all the time because of it. And it's frustrating because they have an awesome roster that they keep wasting in the same feuds over and over again.

Ru Day might be one of greatest factions in decades with just 1 match, an unrelated youtube channel and a couple of twitter interactions.

Bryan's book directly contradicts this, he said Shawn came to training all the time. You mean his WWE book? Of course he is going to say that now after that becoming part of the story in 2013. But seek out his interviews before then and that directly contradicts his book. Not really, if IIRC Bryan used to say that most of the in ring stuff were taught by Ruddy Boy Gonzalez, something that he also mentions in his book. Shawn oversaw stuff and got them bookings, he very rarely stepped in the ring (like the story were he tried teaching them how to take a backdrop and his mom scolding him for getting in the ring). As time has gone by, Bryan has talked more about how important Shawn was in pushing him and Kendrick and getting them gigs, but he's always been clear about his "real" teacher being Regal.

Yeah, I don't see the crowd that's booing him buying into a reboot of his character. Specially if he's dominating, hell they are gonna resent him (well, WWE) even more. I think they are at a point of no return with him as a face with that audience. It's either turn him heel or go the Cena route.

So much can go wrong going that route, I don't see any scenario were WWE actually goes for it (on purpose at least). A heel turn is way less risky.
