I think that is why he usually came off as a parody of a great wrestler instead of being one himself. Turns out it was appropriate he used the Spinal Tap gag in WCW. Getting lost backstage. Since in a way he is a Spinal Tap parody come to life. Just he actually means it.

I've considered this as well. It is the thing that will end up annoying me about Hogan's final place on the list. Since it will effect how Cena's place on the list is viewed.

If it was a 2 year process again I suppose my own preference would be roll out threads for 4 wrestlers a week. Have everyone working on those wrestlers during that week. Keep the threads open though for later discussion. That is 416 wrestlers right there. Maybe when nominations are ongoing have polls to decide if the nominees are worthy of their own thread at that time. If not revisit them later since they likely will show up at points will working on other wrestlers. I'm not sure of this but I would at least consider the possibility of increasing the amount of workers people vote on. I'd even be open to discussion on the possibility of all voters ranking everyone. Keep people more engaged through the process less risk of faking it through a list not having seen most of the nominees. Maybe you could even go 3 years at 3 wrestlers a week. That is 468 in 3 years. Go with a 500 wrestler project and leave the other 32 spots to the obvious workers like Flair Misawa and Undertaker. I know 3 years sounds like a lot to ask of others but only 3 wrestlers a week would keep things focused. Maybe clear guidelines one what to consider for the list called the Scott Steiner rule. Keep fools that can't help themselves from going too far outside the ropes when making picks. In the end I think it depends on whether Vince puts up enough network footage to motivate everyone. Guy is sitting on a lot of treasure. Plus NWAclassics still has a lot of great content it is rolling out.

I screwed up and didn't save the final edition of my list. I thought I had Destroyer at 19 would have been good for high vote. Damn last minute changes. Mentioned before I weighed in ring character and ability to do timely comedy highly. Destroyer was a real stand out there. Also had votes in for Virus and LA Park. Interesting that the 6 that have been revealed so far only had 3 top 10 votes between them. Must have been consistent names up at the top.

At least think that chop exchange accomplished what it set out to and the intentions were pretty clear. Unlike say Matt Morgan vs Crimson. Which is better summed up in GIF form.

Looks like I have 67 still standing. Ended up the high vote on 7. Jackie Fargo, Silver King, Sandman, Ricochet, Super Dragon, Steiner and Smothers. Guys in my top 50 that I lost were Ricochet, Super Dragon, Buzz Sawyer, Low Ki, Smothers and Steiner. Smothers and Steiner from the top 25. Other notables I lost were Lothario, Colon, Guerrera, Psicosis, Aries, Henry, Rich, Luger, Wahoo, Grey, Zbyszko, Villano III, Christian, Matt Hardy and Patterson There was only 1 person on my list I would have really been disappointed to see miss the top 100. The person I voted #2. Fortunately they made it. The increase in voters put that in doubt toward the end.

Will guess The Rock, Cesaro, Colon, Owen Hart

That has been the plan. I saw yesterday that the pick was finally revealed. Decided to wait until the morning to look at all of the reactions to the pick. Thoroughly enjoyed reading them. You know I thought that Steiner would go under the radar until my pick was made. I come into the thread a couple days ago and JVK is talking about him. I was just like wow. I made what will universally be considered the worst pick of project. To make matters worse I am now getting a build up for it. I do thank JVK for that though as it was amusing knowing what was to come. When I initially handed in my list I chose to go anonymous with the vote. Figuring I don't want to feel obligated to explain a few bizarre picks. I came to my senses though a few days before the deadline. Took it off anonymous. Since as a top pick he goes against the spirit of how most other people voted. The door was to use your own criteria and I went through that door like Shockmaster going through the wall. My words trying to explain this may come off as the incoherent ramblings of a madman. Which I suppose is appropriate. I am an unapologetic Scott Steiner mark. He embodies pro wrestling to me. The good and the bad. All the stuff I love comes together with him packed in a ridiculously roided body. Whether it be his stiff work and freakish athleticism in his early tag team days. His funny promos. Sometimes intentionally funny, other times not so intentional. Result is the same though. Which, again, I can understand why some people would have a problem with me taking that into account so heavily. Viewing negatives, the unintentionally funny promos, as a positive is kind of ridiculous. Especially since promos aren't a consideration at all for so many you. Did he lack professionalism at times? Yes. I loved the controversial shoot promos on Nitro. I get why people would find that distasteful though. Those promos contribute to what I find appealing about him. His whole loose cannon persona. He has managed to make it difficult to tell where the character ends. This isn't something that would have mattered to me years ago. Twitter and the whole loosening up of kayfabe has made this more of an asset to me. Like having his picture posted at Axxess to ban him from getting in. I ended up weighing in ring character and the ability to do comedy pretty highly. My favorite thing about the whole process was Dick Murdoch becoming a favorite. Steiner brought that Big Poppa Pump character to his matches. In my opinion he had a genuine aura of danger at times. My favorite thing as a wrestling fan was him going into the crowd in India and people fleeing in terror. I'm not going to pretend that this lead to great matches though. As Big Poppa Pump his matches peaked at good and a lot never even reached good. With only rare exceptions like that great brawl with Goldberg. I noted his lack of professionalism earlier but he does deserve some credit for his run in TNA IMO. He had his priorities correct. Only one of the ex WWE/WCW stars that they brought in that would give an actual rub to his opponents. I get that the pick is highly flawed by any objective standard. Most of his great matches were in a tag team. There isn't even a consensus if those matches should even be considered great. He is just my favorite guy to watch. I did my rankings based on who would I most want to watch. Worked my entire way up the list with the 140 guys I was considering using just that question. If I had a half hour to kill I'd prefer 2 10 minute Steiner matches and a couple of promos over a 30 minute Misawa match. Not that I have a problem with watching Misawa. Just using him as an example. I don't think most of my list is all that outrageous. My #1 and #2 are bizarre no doubt. Especially when you look at both of their names together. My number 2 might be Steiner's polar opposite. I don't know if any of this actually explains making the pick. To be honest part of this is rationalizing and coming up with reasons after the fact. This is definitely the most extreme case of subjective pick possible. Be thankful Sid wasn't nominated. Also fuck you Triple H.

At least they are your bottom 3. Mine ended up being my top 2 since I have such a subjective list and my only criteria was who would I rather watch. At this point I'm glad I will be in the mountains in the morning and will miss when they are revealed. If someone as good as Bret Hart can get such a negative response to being a top 5 guy. I can't pretend I don't see why most will loathe the picks. I acknowledged in the what did you learn about your fandom thread that my picks are a complete joke when you take great matches into account. I own up to the picks though. If you don't like what I love I can't blame you. Just be thankful you don't have to watch it. Especially the top guy. As he sometimes would embody the best of professional wrestling. Other times the worst. Kind of ridiculous I ended up viewing both as a positive since I'm entertained either way. I suppose score one for the bad guy should mean bad in behavior. Not work quality.

Hard to decide who looks more like unfrozen caveman lawyer in their picture. Buzz Sawyer or Raven.

I voted for him and a post you made in the Lothario thread is why I took him more seriously as a candidate at the time. "I look at Jose a lot like I look at Jackie Fargo, very similar wrestlers where we mostly have a handful of brawls near the end of their career. I am going to rank both and I need to think about who goes higher. We are getting a new awesome Lothario match a week at this point, so I imagine he will end up higher. As far as footage we have to be willing to go with some small sample size guys or we will be limiting ourselves to guys who's primes were in promotions with tape in the mid 80s and beyond. For example how many great Tommy Rich matches do we have? But no one can make a list like this and DQ Tommy Rich."

Man AJ really needed to stand up for himself at some point and say no to Jericho wanting to counter everything.

I don't comment on New Day since I don't expect everything on the show to appeal to me. Unfortunately it looks like they are spreading with Social Outcasts. Trying to get people over by having them be intentionally awful isn't something that will keep me as a viewer.

My taste changed radically. I just voted based on who does things I find emotionally engaging. Clean execution was important to me in the past. It was like it didn't matter at all now. The biggest beneficiary was Giant Baba. I just genuinely love watching the guy. Just found him really engaging and he seemed to love what he was doing in a way I found endearing. My viewing was almost completely visceral. Just a matter of who could pull me in. There are some flaws in this approach that my ballot reflects. Since I was being sentimental while watching. It also made environment more of a factor than it would have been in the past for me. It hurt New Japan guys the most. Since there is something sterile about it. Might be weird way of explaining it but I often felt like it was a crowd I would see in a sci-fi movie or show. Ranking I asked myself a simple question. Who would you rather watch? Combining this with being visceral/sentimental I end up with some unusual names at the top. Names that if high volume great matches are what is most important you will find the names justifiably laughable. A few years ago that is what I would have thought about it. I comfortable with that and as a fan content. I've never been someone that watches matches again. That was required and I enjoyed that element of it. Though it isn't something I plan to continue on with in the future. I thought I would end up being more analytical on 2nd watch but the opposite turned out to be true which was a pleasant surprise. I ended up with a more subjective list than I set out for at the start. Counting laughs and smiles over average star rating was a welcome change. Wish I had more to say while the watching process was going on. I am more of a reader than a writer. Appreciate all the hard work you guys put into this project. Definitely ended up motivated to watch stuff that I wouldn't have without the reviews I read here.

I had the TV muted. I thought it was Bill Simmons at first. Shane McMahon turned out to be a big improvement over that first impression.
-
Not really relevant since the question is who will you place higher.

What is the greatest *worked* moment in televised wrestling history?

Luger surprise winning the world title from Hogan is my favorite. -
R-Truth whenever he was at his physical peak. Not so big that he didn't look athletic. Super lean.

I think this is the worst era. Mainly because the talent is there to put on a great show. Alberto Del Rio is my favorite example. He has a great look, good talker, a credible background, and really strong in the ring. He's not a case like Cesaro where they are just blind to the talent. They've actively tried with Del Rio. Every step of the way they have failed due to their own incompetence. Del Rio leaves and projects star everywhere the goes. Comes back and almost instantly they call his momentum. When you can't get someone over with all those tools, when you're actually trying, things don't have much hope.

Never cared or Mauro Ranallo in the past when I've heard him doing MMA. So pleasantly surprised how much I am liking him as the announcer on Smackdown. He brought that Charlotte match to life.
-
I don't care about Owens weight. I wish he would something about his promos though. His Bill Shatner delivery is horrible.
-
They played out the end pretty much perfect outside of some blood. In my mind I was begging for him to go back and spear him once more when the refs were carrying him out. He delivered.
-
If there is worse than Tensai I would rather not see it.

Wouldn't be the worst idea to have Ambrose, Reigns and Usos all win. Have a group of babyface champions.
