  1. Jimmy Del Ray comes to mind immediately. The DVDVR board still has the ugliest wrestlers poll up in the wrestler nonsense section. You can probably get tons there.
  2. Agree about the American Pickers guy being distasteful at times. Essentially saying, "hey come on you're old. You're going to die soon. You can't take it with you. Sell us your stuff." Also agree that the old man saves the Pawn Star side stories. Either by finishing it with a joke or some how finding some genuine amusement from it. There is some obvious ego growth going on there. As for talking wrestling I limit it to just 2 people that I know. We rarely agree but still have fun going to shows together. I'm not sure when wrestling would even have a chance of coming up in a conversation with non fans. Besides obvious times like Benoit.
  3. I have tried to find an explanation as to why my opinion is so far off from most people when it comes to certain wrestlers. Best I can come up with is the many worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics is accurate. For some reason when I watch Edge or Kurt Angle I get a feed from an alternate reality.
  4. Pawn Stars for sure. At least not everyone on that show is unlikable. They just aren't good actors though so the scripted side story stuff comes off poorly. That other pawn show Hardcore Pawn is even worse. I can't believe that show and all the stereotypes it brings to life. It is just strange the shows like that with no likable people. Especially when there is no chance for a payoff which you at least get in wrestling or shows like Oz.

I just checked here. Not all the columns are archived. Some are though, not sure how many though only checked a few. http://web.archive.org/web/20050206203820/...ce.com/main.php
  6. I would take the million to read the site even if it required reading all the comments as well.
  7. You can grab star ratings from this site as well when needed. http://www.profightdb.com/wrestler-star-ra...benoit-305.html
  8. Sid claimed in one of his shoots, the second RF Video one I believe, that the line was written for him that way. My first instinct was to think he is trying to just cover up an embarrassing mistake. Considering the writer, the reactions shots, and the followups, I could see it being true.
  9. Heyman had really bad timing. Trying to build at time that WCW had a ton of money to throw around and a complete disregard for long term sustainability made managing costs close to impossible. Would be much easier today with TNA as the number 2. Especially since he wouldn't have interest in the people they pay the most money to like Hogan and Sting. I have a hard time blaming him for failing in that environment.
  10. I really enjoyed the Ventura one for that reason. His answers really exposed the absurdity of the whole process. It wasn't like he was being condescending about it either.
  11. I would like Cena turning to freshen things up. Luckily there is stuff like this and his promo last night to keep me from getting disappointed when he doesn't. Plus I can just pretend for the next year that the reason he didn't was they realized saving it to end the streak would be much better.
  12. I've decided to go through Kurt Angle stuff since I ignored most of it while it aired. I watched a battle royal where he won the title on Smackdown and Mark Henry was awesome in it at least. It is last man standing matches that I am really looking forward to watching. It seems like the type of match that would force him to pull back a bit to make the counts mean something. I am assuming it won't and he will be getting up at 2 rather than 9 to make it more realistic.
  13. I am not a huge fan of the build so far but it has to be ahead of WM 27 in my eyes. Only one match had a good build on that PPV. Mysterio vs Cody Rhodes.
  14. Use the google chrome browser and get the 2 adblock extensions from the web store.
  15. Yeah a few months of Bully as a babyface is hardly enough to garner that type of reaction. Cena could possibly do it as he has the right mix of time on top and portion of crowd alienated. Seems like factions working is the exception and not the rule at this point.
  16. I am curious to hear how well Park and Ryans got over the main story of match to the crowd that the announcers were selling. Park having to deal with sight issues from baby oil.

Reminds me of Christian. Hopefully he can reach close to that level. Consistently good TV match worker.
  18. Doesn't look like all that great of a card but most times I think that going into a TNA PPV I end up enjoying the show. I wonder if that Lethal Lockdown match will be done similar to last year. Which was all about trying to get Garett Bischoff over. Watching the video now. So far so good. Damn I miss Don West.
  19. Yeah it was a waste of time but just felt like going over what they have that I do want to see. Looks like the plan with Henry might have changed. Meltzer on the LAW last night said Henry vs Sheamus is the direction they are going. I can get behind that match for sure. It was actually something they seemed to be building towards when Henry was champion since the short lived feud they had seemed to end with a draw. Loved when Sheamus came out and ended up slapping Henry in the face. You literally could see jaws drop in the crowd.
  20. I don't know the answer to that question. I will say though that the amount of grief that Benoit showed during Guerrero's death seemed unusual to me. After seeing that I probably would have been open to the idea of him breaking immediately if I hadn't immediately thought it was murder/suicide. Years ago my cousin had a diabetic seizure. He wasn't aware he was diabetic at the time. When it happened he was on the floor playing with his 6 month old child. He passed out on the baby and suffocated it to death. That is the only other time I have seen the kind of emotion Benoit had when Guerrero passed.
  21. I remember people discussing the possibility since I was one. I also remember people debating whether or not it was a work. Wrestling Classics forum has it archived. You can go back and read it in real time. You'll see most angles covered in that thread. I am just curious how long it took for someone to blame Kevin Sullivan.
  22. Murder suicide was what I thought right away. I was shocked they did the tribute show since it seemed like such a likely outcome. It at least was likely enough to warrant holding off until more facts were known. Murder suicide is more common than carbon monoxide deaths. http://www.vpc.org/studies/amroul2006.pdf http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm5402a2.htm
  23. This is the card I would like the most this I believe. Might be forgetting someone. The Rock match was the hardest one to choose. Big Show arguably deserves the match. Ziggler could use it as well but it would take more work to have a shot of it being believable in time. Cena vs Undertaker The Rock vs CM Punk Henry vs Del Rio (with it known ahead of time that Ziggler is cashing in after. Langston gets Henry disqualified once Del Rio and Henry are adequately worn down for it to make sense) Sheamus vs Lesnar Antonio Cesaro vs Christian Ambrose vs Orton Rollins and Reigns vs Team Hell No Jericho vs Wade Barrett Ryback vs Big Show

Good question. The minor uproar over Cena and Lesnar fighting at Extreme Rules, rather than saving it for Summerslam or Mania, was puzzling for that reason. They charge a lot for those shows. They should be doing everything they can to have them as equal as possible to the other shows. Byproduct of Dave Meltzer Syndrome where you have people that are fans now of the wrestling business rather than wrestling matches.
  25. Has there ever been a tag team match that ended with a wrestler submitting his partner? Seems like something that could have been done during a heel turn at one point.
