Smackdown 27.2.09. I suppose it does. Would like to hear more from you on this. Do you have a Cena great matches list from the GWE days? I haven't forgotten about this by the way. I just have to find a moment to answer it properly, since it is of interest to me in terms of GWWE as well.

Your "So So Good" Top 100 Matches of All Time
Jimmy Redman replied to elliott's topic in Pro Wrestling
Too hipster. -
Well I'm struggling to think of bad ones so that should say something.
-
I don't know if you're a Corbin guy so I legitimately can't tell if this is sarcasm.
-
I can't think of a worse one off the top of my head. Maybe that title match with Lesnar really early in his career? No that one was good enough. There have definitely been worse ones. The Ace match. A couple of the bad Show matches. The Miz one where he squashed him. The Booker/Show three way from 2006. 2004 probably has candidates. The Corbin match was just ordinary, like 2nd match on SD ordinary, which by Cena PPV match standards does make it bad because Cena has delivered on PPV so consistently for 12 years.

I'd say it was in the bottom 10% without much pause. Sounds about right. Weird thing to get pissed about.

If you didn't know better you'd think Cena was high as a motherfucker during Raw. He was just pulling faces and giggling the whole time.

I think I'd be perfectly happy if Asuka never actually lost a match for the rest of her life. Asuka/Ember was fucking great and Ember looked like a million bucks even in defeat and having her finish kicked out of. All that's left for Asuka to do in NXT is face the winner of the MYC, but honestly I'd be super pumped for Asuka/Ember III too after that. I'm dreading the day she gets called up. Sure we'll finally get matches with the rest of the Horsemen, but she won't stay undefeated forever on the main roster and once she loses once, she'll start losing like everyone and eventually be Bayley'd and people will start talking about how she wasn't really that good in NXT, just protected and smoke and mirrors and etc., and just totally fuck that. Drew Mac did the same dive over the top rope that Trent tried to do on him on SD from the last Bogus Journey. That was a weird full circle moment for me. I could do without the ROH dork invasion, but I also wasn't wild about guys like Devitt, Strong and Roode when they came in either and they turned out OK, so let's hope NXT can work more magic. Kudos to them for having AOP, built up as unstoppable hybrid Road Warriors-mack trucks, believably drop the belts to anyone, let alone a previously dead-in-the-water Sanity who managed to get over as crazy babyface underdogs even though they had a 4 on 2 advantage. That was the best use of live music on a show in years and years. Why had WWE never thought of using the live performance to do the opening video montage before?

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
Jimmy Redman replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
*TNA changes name to GFW* Tenay: We all know what promotion that is!!! -
Yeah Swagger was the first one of the recurring pattern where they gave it to a midcarder, jobbed him out with the case, he cashed in, then jobbed some more with the belt, and then they wondered why he didn't get over.

Man if they cared that much about us we could have had Nathan Jones, WWE Champion.

Elimination of Babyface Shine & Slow Heat(Less) Segments
Jimmy Redman replied to Superstar Sleeze's topic in WWE
I've been complaining about this for years. I remember back when the Usos got really good as faces (2012ish?) I was making the point that they were practically the only act on the whole roster who understood the importance of shine and made sure they got some every match. When I see a match where the bell rings, two dudes walk towards each other and the heel just straight away boots the face in the gut and goes to work I want to punch things. It's terrible pro wrestling. -
Thanks for the nice feedback guys. I had a blast doing the women's show, and I agree that it's been great getting content on a lot of candidates besides the obvious, whether it's women, random midcarders, tag teams, pre-Hogan guys...even Tim going to bat for Pete Dunne or something. We're going to end up with almost all of the candidates delved into in some way or other I imagine, which is fantastic. PWOers who didn't want to dive back into another GWE should definitely consider getting involved. It is way more relaxed and I think with WWE being what it is, there is more focus on characters and things that are, shall we say, a bit "lighter" than what we often get into here. And all it takes is joining the Facebook group and adding to the discussion on whichever candidates you choose (and listening to the audio of course). brainfollower the Trish pod is coming!

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
Jimmy Redman replied to TravJ1979's topic in Pro Wrestling
I think it was Jeff Hardy who once had a nipple piercing ripped out during a match. If not him then definitely some male wrestler. Ouchorama. -
Umm, OK. I sincerely hope that none of the people calling for a woman to be fired from her job because she's probably a victim of domestic violence/an abusive relationship are in charge of firing people in real life. I know we're in the wrestling bubble but like, what the fuck guys.

[2017-08-01-WWE-Smackdown] Shinsuke Nakamura vs John Cena
Jimmy Redman replied to Ricky Jackson's topic in August 2017
Fair dinkum the early part where Cena does a thing and goes "U Can't See Me" and Shinsuke literally RUBS HIS EYES as if to say "Oh my God you're right, I can't see you! WHAT HAPPENED TO MY EYES?!?!" and then gets the lead back in the corner and puts the goggles up to say "Ha! I CAN see you now John Cena!" was quite possibly the biggest highspot in the history of wrestling. -
OK I already want 50 gazillion Cena Nakamura matches.

The Tiffany stuff didn't kill his initial push, which was already dead by late 2010, so much as it made Vince never want to try pushing him again, and I think if it didn't happen they would have definitely tried pushing him again in the future (since they did have high hopes for him and he was only young). His first push ended when he really didn't have the charisma or connection to back it up, and he was stuck at IC/Tag title level until he ended up in the doghouse and became the C Show champ. Ironically the exact moment they closed the door on pushing him was the moment he got really fucking good working C shows and probably deserved another push, at least a push out of the doghouse, but all he got was 3MB. He seems to have benefited a lot from his time outside the company. He has more charisma, is even more physical, and has a presence that he always lacked before. He carries himself like 'The Chosen One' should have carried himself in 2010. Excuse the cheap plug, but on the latest Bogus Journey we looked at some Drew Mac matches and discussed basically all of this stuff in more detail.

Try these on: Shield vs Usos & Henry - Main Event 7/8/13 Shield vs Usos & Bryan - SD 20/9/13 Shield vs Usos & Dolph - Raw 30/9/13 Shield vs Rhodes Bros vs Usos - Hell in a Cell 2013 They had a bunch more Shield matches but those are the ones that stood out to me. In the non-Shield department, also check out Usos vs Rhodes Scholars - Main Event 23/1/13 and Main Event 5/6/13.

Yeah it was once they turned face and became C show stalwarts that they started getting good. Late 2011/2012 I would say. Which, to be fair, means they were only rubbish for the first year or so, and they've been good ever since.
