  1. I am in awe of Verne Gagne's promotional marketing acumen.
  2. Would it be possible to get Abdullah from Nov. 17-21? I already have him 19-20, but that way i can have him for a full weekend run. Either way, I'm relinquishing the 27th and 28th since I've changed up my plans slightly and so that someone else can use him for a Sunday Thanksgiving weekend show if they wish.
  3. Things have eased up enough on my end where I'm able to get the ball rolling on the WWC shows again. I've fine tuned my house show card report format, let me know if it it's easy to follow.
  4. 7/2/83 – Coliseo Roberto Clemente – San Juan Jose Miguel Perez defeated Joe Savoldi via pinfall at 5:38. After the bout both men shook hands. Victor Jovica & Ray Apollon defeated Barrabas & Gypsy Rodrigues when Rodrigues submitted to Jovica’s sleeperhold at 7:19. Hacksaw” Jim Duggan defeated Scott Ferris via pinfall at 6:02 Jay Youngblood defeated Masaji Goto via pinfall at 7:20 after Youngblood hit his Tomahawk chop Kendo Nagasaki (w/Hugo Savinovich) defeated El Gran Apollo via pinfall at 13:54 after a distraction by Hugo Savinovich allowed Nagasaki to use his kendo stick on Apollo. Los Medicos (w/Hugo Savinovich) defeated Angelo Rivera & Denny Brown (substituting for-Chicky Starr who did not appear to due to travel issues) via pinfall at 8:23. Puerto Rico Title Match: King Tonga defeats. Terry Gibbs via pinfall at 10:25. Throughout the match Gibbs would glance every now and then at ringside as if he were expecting someone to appear, but no one ever showed. Dick Slater and Mil Mascaras battled to a double countout at 15:58. Mil dove onto Slater on the outside, leading to both men being counted. Both men continued fighting after the bell rang. North American Title Match: Pedro Morales defeated. Buddy Landell via pinfall at 14:24. Late in the bout Terry Gibbs tried to interfere on behalf of Landell. However, miscommunication caused Landell to get thrown into Gibbs, who was on the ring apron at the time, allowing Morales to schoolboy Landell for the win. NWA World Heavyweight Title Match: Carlos Colon defeats Harley Race by DQ at 33:45 when Race threw Colon over the top rope. Hugo Savinovich accompanied Harley Race for this match. This match was a seesaw battle. Late in the contest Carlos was setting upo for the figure-four leglock when Hugo Savinovich distracted the referee. Carlos went after Hugo and knocked him off the apron. Race managed to get back on his feet and, as cArlos went after Race, leveraged Colon’s momentum to send him over the top rope drawing a DQ. As a result Race retains the NWA World Heavyweight title. Post-match, Dick Slater jumped Carlos Colon at ringside as Hugo egged Slater on. Mil Mascaras quickly came out and helped Carlos before any serious damage could be done. As a result of this, a tag match has been signed for tomorrow night in Arecibo, where Carlos Colon & Mil Mascaras will take on Harley Race & Dick Slater.
  5. Guys, check the Japan dates on Brody and Hansen, I think that they might not be available for Starrcade (bummer if that's the case). Mil Mascaras also looks to be unavailable.
  6. You might want to message him just in case (and also let him know that it's his turn in the August draft, he can either pick or pass for the month).
  7. You could also use the Puerto Rico method of having them cut the promo in English with the interviewer providing translation throughout the promo. The potential drawback to this approach is that it sometimes cuts off the natural flow of the promo being given, since there would be pauses to allow for translation of what was said. But it would save on dubbing costs, since the translation is done live.
  8. At the very least Ole isn't around to destroy tapes.
  9. So what do we do with Al Tomko and Burrhead Jones?
  10. Yeah, if rainmaker confirms he's staying put then LowBlow is free to take Mid-South if he wants to since he's the second person in line on the waiting list.
  11. Okay, once the new owner of Mid-South takes control he can make his selection in this draft.
  12. That's fine, just have to talk with him to finalize it. We should confirm with rainmaker that he's staying put. I think he is, but it's best to have it clearly stated just in case.
  13. Absolutely, every time you pick its right to the back of the line. That should temper wanting to take guys just for the sake of taking guys.
  14. Disagree with this. Your penalty is that you're in the back of the line. If there is no one you deem useful, why should one care if others pick them up. You've already got your position set for the next month's draft, the guys who pick will end up at the back of the line. This is fine, at the same time I think there should be SOME kind of limit meaning you can't just suck up everyone left every single month. I think this can be self policed in the sense that I would hope everyone would draft only if they legitimately wanted the guy and have use for him. I do agree that taking guys for the sake of taking guys is not productive or should be condoned.
  15. Disagree with this. Your penalty is that you're in the back of the line. If there is no one you deem useful, why should one care if others pick them up. You've already got your position set for the next month's draft, the guys who pick will end up at the back of the line.
  16. What if someone legitimately wanted more than one guy that month and enough guys passed where it loops around? If we're going to allow passing and keeping draft slot order if you do, then guys that want more than one guy should be allowed to keep drafting until everyone says they're done or there are no more wrestlers to draft that month. Like goc said, it's counterproductive to force guys to draft talent if they don't want them, but the set-up should allow for them to find a home if someone legitimately wants them.
  17. I'd assume keep drafting until everyone says they are done. any names left over would roll over. There is the danger of guys constantly passing each month on picking and leaving a few low card names orphans, so we may need to figure out what happens if a guy is constantly rolled over. Not in favor of making them free agents if we're allowing guys to pass on picks and keep their slot order for the next month. Someone could game the system keeping their draft slot for the next month but still getting someone via free agency.
  18. Maybe. Unlike freelancers, these guys would not be available for dates during the entire month. It should be more Japan style I would think, where they come in every couple of months for a week or two stretch and then head back to their home promotion..
  19. Well, if Mid-South does open up, the established protocol does allow the guys on the waiting list to get first crack at taking it over before deciding if it's absorbed..
  20. Are you sure? I think it's Georgia that would get it going by the arrows.
  21. Anyone know if dkookypunk knows it's his turn to draft? At this point, should we just ship Al Tomko back to Vancouver since he apparently is the point man in running the Portland office according to the Spectator (assuming no one else is interested)?
  22. Would the UK/Mexico guys just be touring? I also think it should be tours.
  23. I'd suggest a warning when they're approaching a month of inactivity. If no response to the warning they forfeit the territory after a month of inactivity. If there is a response, they have up to one week after they hit the month mark to actually get sonething posted. I would allow some leeway for situations where soneone informs ahead of time they will be temporarily inactive (but obviously not if they say they'll be out for a few months, that's just too long). And I suggest this fully aware that I'm one of the stragglers that needs to get to posting.
  24. I'm just wondering who's reporting this news and through what medium if the dirtsheets are non grata in the WWF.
  25. Man, all three of those WWC tidbits in the latest newsletter are great. I busted a gut laughing just picturing a four year old Carly Colon doing that with Dick Slater laughing in a corner. The titles tidbit is funny because the number of titles for the territory is ridiculous (but it's always been that way in real life also). The Tim Tall Tree saga is made better and funnier to me by the fact that I legitimately have planned to not use him until August and that, when he does come in, it'll be under a mask. This saga just writes itself.
