Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4

House shows had a brief resurgence around this time. Because they'd been in the down period for more than a year at this point, Vince felt like they should ride it out and wait until business was cold again to do the title change, which would possibly create another shot in the arm. Luger had been negotiating with WCW for months in '95 and I don't know that it would have mattered. Most big WCW names who jumped -- Luger, Flair, Steiners -- you'll notice ended up wanting to go back. WCW had a more manageable schedule and guaranteed contracts. Luger on a contract with no downside had to be odd, considering that he'd had that since 1987. WCW from 1995 - 96 (ish) before the NWO thing happenned seemed a bit of a what if WWF 93. Back when Luger had the Lex Express bus it was obvious Vince was trying to make him like the next Hulk Hogan with the slam thing, always wondered what would happen if Luger won the belt then Hogan came in to challenge him and that seems where WCW came in doing the match on Nitro but not only that doing stuff like Savage/Flair rematches from their WWF run. Over the years we were getting biuts like Perfect/Flair, Perfect/Bret or even Luger/Razor. WCW 95 to me seemed a bit like what if WWF didnt go down the New Generation era as there was quite a few WWF matches they did down there. Even WCW in the 2000s went as far as to do Bret/Hogan vs Flair/Luger! -

Its not the first to happen. The same thing happened with Road Dogg a while back where a fan said something and Roadie took offense said something and blocked the fan. -

Just been watching Summerslam 93 and was curious if Vince really had a plan on Luger winning the belt at the show. Sure Mania X was Bret's time but they could have played a storyline where Bret remembers the previous years Mania at the conference when he got knocked out. Would Luger have stayed in 95 if he had been given the belt? -
If it ends up being true maybe they would show the original ones on the network.

I am interested to see what Undertaker's HOF induction will be like. Knowing WWE they will probably keep him in character like the Paul Bearer one where he doesn't speak. Problem is that doesn't really work when he was ABA during the 2000s. -
Im stuck at a cross roads here. I started to watch NWA around the 1986 season where I was watching every weekly show then I got to October 1990 just after Havoc, but due to family problems had to take a break from it and now a year later with less free time now sure how to continue it. At the moment I get a free 90 mins per day to watch stuff so been catching up to WWF stuff from Mania 7 to Mania 9 and almost into Summerslam 93 but Id like to go back into WCW so would it be best to continue 1990 or start somewhere else? Having less time means I cant see everything that I would like to as I was going through Main Event, Pro, Worldwide, Sat Nite, Power Hour so looking for the best solution.

If it had happenned during Austin's 2001 run with WWE would they have just swept it under the carpet and ignored it? Rich Swann wasent really a big enough name which led to his suspension but was wondering would WWE cover it up if say it happenned with a Main Event guy?

Ric Flair's shhot was very anticipated that they did it on something like 4 disks but the only off putting thing was constantly chewing Tobacco and spitting in a cup. Probably why I preferred Ric's more recent one. -

Why hasen't Hogan ever done a full on shoot interview for either KC, RF or Highspots? He must be the only Legend left that hasent done one. Im sure they could stoke up the cash for Hulk to agree to do one. Its just a shame Randy Savage never did one either as I enjoyed the interview IGN did with him shortly after he left WCW. -
Probably a good place for me to say that Run The Gauntlet is one of my favorite TV booking ideas ever. I adore WCW 1991 they had alot of good talents coming in with all the build up with the Dangerous Alliance. What a awesome faction to have Rude, Austin, Zbyszko, Eaton & Anderson. Looking back to the end of 1991 its suprising to see just how many well known names they had back then.

Ill take old over new anyday! New stuff just bores the piss out of me and when I watched the last mania it was such a chore and felt like id been watching the show for a week than a few hours. Todays stars just lack the charisma and integrity that the old stars have and the only thing that has me watching current WWE is if a Legend comes on the show otherwise ill just skip the show. Bray, Roman, Seth, Dean are nothing compared to Macho, Jake, Perfect, Dibiase, Hogan and no matter how long John Cena stays wrestling he just isnt enough to keep me entertained on a weekly basis when he's not there. The main reason I buy the Network on a monthly basis is just for the classic shows! Watching David Arquette winning the WCW Belt or Dustin/Bully is far more entertaining than Miz/Roman or Brock/Joe.

Is Dave really that disillusional that he rates Mania 31 as the best ever Mania ever created? I'd rather watch Steamboat/Savage from Mania 3 than some boring shit like Taker/Bray that is a chore to watch. Its funny how he gives Hogan/Andre minus 4 stars yet will 5 star a match just because its Shelton Benjamin flipping off a Ladder.

I thought it was just Hogan being Hogan. Knowing what to say to babyface himself to the audience that would be watching a Ric Flair show. Image rehabilitation. I always felt Hogan was a better wrestler (Not in ring work) than Flair anyway. Hulk did great in Japan and his big push in WWE and I just don't see Flair as popular as that during his run inb the NWA.

Pretty much any booking Russo did in WCW was shit. He always made sure he went over the top stars with his angles and the established main event stars got demoted. I suppose in Russo's mind he would say he was a bigger draw than Hogan, Rock & Austin combined.

You can call Bret selfish and a mark for himself, but imagine you give a guy a clean win at WrestleMania in the first ever 60 man iron man match in the WWF, and then you're told at the next WrestleMania you're going to have a rematch and win it back- only to have the other competitor lose his smile and pull excuse after excuse as to why he won't return the favor. Bret may have been a bit of a baby but there was no one more of a baby at the time than HBK. How many times did he vacant titles just so he couldn't lose them? Imagine going to work and having to deal with a guy like that on a daily basis and then hearing that before you leave, you once again have to lose clean to him. I don't blame Bret for feeling the way he did. He offered to lose clean to Stone Cold or Shamrock before he left, only to have it shut down. We've all worked with that one guy we couldn't stand before. Now imagine having to do them a favor before you left and moved on to a different job. I'm sure you'd have some reservations as well. Let's also not forget that Bret, at first, turned down Turner for less money and was going to stay loyal to the WWF, only to have Vince back out of the contract and say he couldn't live up to it. How many people would have done that? -
Hogan vs Savage! Really enjoyed their feud during 1989!

WWF Raw 1993!

I can't see WWE going full hog with it by having Matt win the Heavyweight title like TNA did.

Hopefully they filmed it for a future network special. Sounds like it was a good show with a good crowd. From what I've seen, it was a fantastic show, however it doesn't seem like it was tapped for TV. I would be all for a Rock 'n' Roll Express vs. the Revival tag match. There are a couple of ringside (official, not fan) clips of the Roode-Ziggler finish with the Arn spinebuster, and Arn telling Ziggler welcome to Horsemen Country on a house mic, as well as Goldu...I mean The Natural Dustin Rhodes enterance and The Hardyz introducing the R&Rs. I saw that on the WWE Youtube channel. Im guessing they didnt film the whole thing as at times they did this with other shows like Nakamura in Japan or Roman returning to beat down Seth earlier in the year.

Id like to think WWE taped all the Hogan/Flair matches that took place at TV tapings.
-
Wasen't there some rumour a few years ago of a HHH/Vince Wrestlemania match for control of WWE? I think it around the time the Authority was in charge before Sting came in.

I know Sid came into WWF in July 1991 but would it have really been that bad to just take a pinfall loss to Hogan? Hogan always was the number 1 guy back then so if Sid is eliminating Hogan from the Rumble then Hulk needs to get his revenge. Sure Hogan was leaving but I doubt it would have damaged Sid's credibility seeing as he failed a drugs test a month later anyway. I always felt bad for Bret at that years Mania. Shawn acts a dick, forfeits the belt so Bret gets stuck in a match with Austin. They still could have kept plans how they were because if HBK/Bret happens then Bret's walking out with the title. So at the Fatal Four show keep the match as a number one contenders match but instead also make a championship with 2 top contenders who arent in the match, Sid would be one because he was the last champion but who he wrestles Ive no idea because Bret, Austin, Taker & Vader are all locked into the other match.

Flicking through youtube and came across ECW Legend Stevie Richards reviewing the Nintendo Switch! -
Enough with the "invader" angles already. Ive seen it with the NWO, and Nexus, The Shield, The Wyatts.. and now with the Women, on both RAW AND Smackdown?? It gets interesting for a while, but now its overkill.

Their accounts on Twitter were hinting a Angle/Cena match for the future.
