Agreed, he'd be my pick for best WWE in-ring worker that year. Great matches with a wide variety of opponents on a consistent basis.

Same age too. Interesting point, as they originally chose Naomi over Athena back in 09

Your Most Hated World Title Reign in History
Alucard replied to JaymeFuture's topic in Pro Wrestling
I enjoyed the second half more, but the first half of Punk's last reign was pretty awful to me, at least the booking was atrocious all the way around. I think that's where Miz's main event run died too. From Alberto cashing in on Punk at SummerSlam, Punk went on to 1. Lose to Triple H @ Night of Champions 2. Takes the fall to Alberto in the triple threat with Cena @ HIAC 3. Takes the fall in tag w/ HHH vs Miz & Truth @ Vengeance then the next night, demands a title shot, the following week is told beat Mark Henry and you get the shot. He loses by DQ, comes back later and just beats up Alberto til he gives him the shot and goes on to win the title. Punk vs Miz vs Alberto at TLC being the first PPV title match, where in the build Punk completely buried both guys with these "you guys are so boring" promos and making them look like fools at every turn up to and during the match itself to the point where neither guy was any sort of threat. Alberto went away with injury after but I don't think Miz ever recovered. After that the Rumble match with Dolph, where he was also made to look like a complete joke with Punk getting multiple visual falls before finally just finishing him off. Then there was the Jericho feud which always felt so forced to me. The matches were good but I hated all of the segments/angles of the feud. After that, the Bryan feud that put the focus on AJ Lee and nothing else which sucked. Things got a lot better/more interesting with the heel turn and Cena rejoining the title picture. On the subject of Miz's reign, I loved that one. Thought his cash in was one of the better ones and of course the mentioned Lawler feud producing classics. Also had that badass falls count anywhere match vs Morrison at the beginning of 2011. Enjoyed his whole rise from tag guy to US Champ to WWE Champ. I also liked the JBL reign and HHH's. Always enjoyed those heel runs where the champ finds unique ways to retain each time. -
Indeed. He's won 2 televised matches since the beginning of September, beating Sting at Night of Champions after losing to Cena and beating Ryback on Smackdown after losing to Ryback on Raw.

First to come to my mind as well, not even *two* minutes but super memorable. Wish both got to be top guys https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgiDwvE6ey4 And another under 5 I always loved:

Austin Aries wins the TNA Worlds Heavyweight Championship. Felt like a true star making moment at the time. His rise from his 2011 return, absolutely ruling the X Division, then transitioning to winning the World Title with a consistent string of great matches with everyone. I loved Roode's heel reign as well with many fun clever retaining of the title endings. The build to Roode/Aries, the match, and the rematch all just came together perfectly.

Looks like the Rusev/Lana engagement is going to blend into the storyline now. " As first reported by TMZ, former U.S. Champion Rusev and Lana are reportedly engaged. The Ravishing Russian had been romantically linked to Dolph Ziggler in recent months and Rusev fielded a proposal from Summer Rae just last week, but it would appear that any lingering problems between the power couple have been resolved. Why did Lana have a change of heart? Tune in to Raw live at 8/7 C on USA Network for more, and stay with WWE.com as this story develops. "

Asuka was so perfect. Wonderful debut. Main event was another great one. I still struggle with the idea of Bayley doing anything near Cena level merch numbers, seems like a ridiculous reach but that's just me. I do think Finn Balor still has superstar potential on the main roster, good showing here.

TNA Bound for Glory Thread.... because I hate life
Alucard replied to goodhelmet's topic in Pro Wrestling
I liked the show. Gauntlet for the Gold was a lot of fun. Good matches all the way through -
Bryan did get stuck with Kane, but they didn't get put in the undercard. It did headline over Shield/Evolution and were set to with the rematch too before Bryan's injury. I agree that Shield looked their best off the Evolution feud, that final win felt like a real "taking down the machine" moment and they looked like total stars doing a clean sweep in that war of a match. Didn't care for breaking up the next night but at that moment finishing off Triple H last, they were on fire.
-
Guessing when the Shield ran through Evolution last year, June 2014.
-
I thought Sheamus was fine as far as being over during his world title reign. Great matches all year with lots of opponents throughout the reign up to and including the great Big Show series.

WWE's recognizing Flair as 6x US Champ, as the original post lists 5 so I guess Cena's now 1 behind in each title. I wouldn't imagine he'd do another drop and regain with the US but it's always possible. Did find it interesting they acknowledged Flair's US reigns vs Cena's tonight.

Part of the build is that Orton was taken out by the Wyatts so it's not him. Kane it may be, if so I hope The Demon Kane returns. Jericho does make some sense with his history with the Wyatts and he's working the MSG Show in 2 weeks.

I have never understood why the Shield triple threat has always been such a constant idea brought up especially for Mania. Don't really see it being that different or special from the four way with Orton earlier this year which was great and had the little Shield reunion spot in it. Reigns/Rollins is a possibility but not sure about Reigns winning the Rumble two in a row but they've driven through Rollins/Ambrose more than enough. Obviously lots will change but Reigns I guess seems the most likely at this point in time though that doesn't really scream main event of the biggest WrestleMania. Actually I'd pick Brock to win it, even if Rollins isn't champion by then. Lesnar/Rollins especially after seeing it at Battleground doesn't really feel like a WM main either, Lesnar/Sheamus may a little more if they build Sheamus up a lot more.

I loved the early 2000s when everything was Saliva, Drowning Pool, Disturbed, Limp Bizkit, etc. Nu metal or whatever, it at least felt very in tune to pop culture and I wish they'd have more mainstream acts like that today.

While I don't think HHH will go over Rollins...
-
Personally I'd love Rollins/Kane in the Cell next to finally blow off that rivalry and a logical match to use the Cell for. After that, I'd almost expect them to go ahead with Rollins/HHH for Survivor Series unless they do another sort of 5 on 5.

I had fun with the Onita game and the mentioned Jikkyo Power Pro. Elsewhere on the list Gekitou Burning Pro Wrestling was fun, had a similar roster to Super Fire Pro with it's handful of US guys and you could play as the referee too where you could shove the wrestlers down, do fast counts, etc. How's that one? Don't think I'm familiar with it, but love the Genesis.

Yeah as said above, Liger's not working the MSG show but will likely work more NXT shows. He's in the UK against AJ Styles for Revolution Pro on the MSG Date. And I think Brock/Bo was just speculation, nothing confirmed there.

Massive superstar Sasha Banks, badass entrance.

Awesome to see KANA there, didn't expect that. Kana, Flair, and Slaughter together. Joe/Corbin was solid, loved the finish - didn't expect that to actually be the finish. All babyface wins so far, go Sasha.

Keeping my fingers crossed for Liger to get his theme music. That's all I really care about on this show. Joe/Corbin could be interesting and I hope Sasha retains.

-Brought up this being his chance to become a 16 time champion and tying HHH's mentor Flair's record which would upset H, saying Flair passed on his legacy to HHH and now HHH is trying to do that with Rollins so Rollins is fighting for HHH's legacy, then said the only difference is HHH was never Flair's bitch while Sunday Cena will make Seth his. -Said Seth isn't the future but a footnote and will just be an answer to the trivia question of who did John Cena beat for his 16th world title. -Pointed out 'lets go cena / cena sucks' but nobody saying a damn thing about Seth Rollins -Called him a cheap imitation and said it's about time he make the title mean something. I personally liked it and always enjoy Cena's extra serious promos. Felt like he was bringing the fire as he should be coming off the broken nose.

Often forgotten periods of a wrestlers career...
Alucard replied to Sidebottom's topic in Pro Wrestling
Yeah, she got squashed by Mickie James in a disappointingly brief match on that WWEvsECW special they did on Wednesday night before One Night Stand 2. I don't remember her ever showing up on TV again. And why the hell did they hire Scorpio and then never put him on television? He still looked crisp as ever in his indy matches from around that time. Agreed. He worked a loop with Gregory Helms on an overseas tour at the end of 2006 which would've been a really fun feud for Smackdown at the time. That was Helms' best period IMO as the long reigning cruiserweight champ. Then he had a dark match before Smackdown in April 07 against Paul Burchill but nothing ever came of it.
