I don' know about that. He brought some of the best out of Bret Hart in WCW. Bret wasn't even having "great" matches with Curt back then...

It's a problem that has plagued them for years. Nothing means anything in TNA. If somebody got stabbed with a knife in the ring, they'd cut to some random backstage bit after 10 seconds of coverage.

Been watching some OTR's with Michael Landsberg. Googled the guy as I know nothing of him, turns out he has a mental disorder and is suffering from depression. Shame.

Show also seemed pretty confident during his thing with Steph. Like he knew something she didn't. I thought at first, they'd do something playing off Steph slapping the shit out of Show. Like workplace abuse. That'd be hilarious given the history of pro wrestling assaults. Big Show getting a little workers comp... pulls out some smokes to celebrate. It's been too long since Show lit up in the ring.

I dunno, the one and only WCW show I went to, one of the stand out memories was me standing in line, and two nutters walking by chanting loudly "Acoustic Equaliser" waving their orange foam guitars in the air. I shit you not.

Stories 2 and 3 are also neither pro wrestling nor MMA stories, Dave. To be fair, the header states "news story".

Was in one of those weird moods last night to watch something obscure, and dug out the XWF tapings. Couldn't help but think what short term dross would turn up if TNA does go down. Weird cards headlined by Samoa Joe vs Ted Dibiase Jr.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3
Sidebottom replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
He tossed Earl over the top rope, Earl was the "evil" ref... -
Yeah, he's been brilliant. A true revelation all things considered.

I wouldn't mind Bret Hart in my corner in a bar fight. You know he'd of had your back, and you know he'd be pretty damn good in a ruck.

I don't think 99 was dry creatively at all? You had Rock vs Mankind at the start which was great, then the Austin and Rock stuff was great also. HHH came into his own after his great heel turn. It may have taken a few months after standing in the back of Corporate Ministry segments, but post SummerSlam he steadily got better leading to his excellent 2000. Jeff Jarrett was reinvigorated and was having blinding matches with D Lo who seemed at the time destined for bigger things. Test rose through the ranks in 99 and seemed like one of the next big stars. Jericho came in, but sadly trod water for a little while. Still, at the time he was fresh as hell on screen. Babyface X Pac was white hot at certain points in he year - him taking out Undertaker was amazing. Hardyz and Edge and Christian found their groove as players setting them up for 2000, and by the end the Dudleyz got thei shi together.

[1995-03-27-WWF-Raw] Bret Hart vs Owen Hart (No Holds Barred)
Sidebottom replied to Loss's topic in March 1995
Should have been their Mania 11 match, billed as a last time ever meeting or something. Would have been a nice conclusion from the previous Mania and their year long feud, resulting in what would have surely been a blinding match on a card which sorely needed it.- 10 replies

I remember mouth breathers going on at the time about Rock's promo being written down on his arm and how it was a shooooot!!! Like the WWE's shit hot production team would happen to miss that one. Two pros worked a great storyline. I just wish the go home show had a big, wild pull apart brawl - that would have made the build brilliant in my eyes and peaked interest in seeing the two FINALLY go at it for Mania. Instead it went off air with the two jaw jacking, and it seemed they cut short due to time restraints.

Greatest WWF/E IC Championship Match of All Time?
Sidebottom replied to awesomemiz's topic in Pro Wrestling
Predictable answer, but for me its Bulldog vs Hitman at Summerslam 92. It's the only IC title match I can remember which had a legit main event feel, with a main event style build. The match itself was executed brilliantly in front of a massive crowd who were into the action, at a special time in wrestling. -
I heard that too, but took it as him reporting the facts of the matter (as he should as a journalist - it was a notable exception) rather than him passing judgement or commentary.

The match wasn't taped as far as I know. Bret just wrote about it in his book...

WWF Cage Matches - Attitude Era - Post HIAC (97-2002)
Sidebottom replied to Smack2k's topic in Pro Wrestling
Unforgiven 2000 with Edge and Christian vs the Hardyz. There were some very exciting moments in hat one. -
Always like Larry as a promo guy, but hated his WCW color work and his grinding, smug voice.

Are you for real? What on earth does being Mic'd different have to do with anything? Are they using microphones which only detect certain frequencies!? The taped Smackdown shows usually have canned audio but again, what is your point? I've been going to WWF/E shows since the late 80's, are you going to tell me my own ears are wrong as to what I've been hearing throughout the years too? Mics.... Jeesh

His match with Bret Hart on Raw back in the day is my favourite ever Raw match. I seem to remember they had a rematch too when Kid turned heel which I recall being excellent, but I haven't seen that one in years. Kid and Razor vs Diesel and Shawn from that Action Zone taping was also marvellous.

Nowhere NEAR an early 90's WWE audience. The modern product you hear PLENTY of adults, all of the time. "Cena Sucks..." being the obvious rebuttal to your own suggestion.
-
Los Gringos Locos vs Hollywood Blondes would have been amazing, now you throw their names in the same post.
-
Does he know why his Hasbro figure is worth so much money? Seriously, that would be a blinding question for either: A ) An answer. B ) The best miffed look ever.
-
Interesting reading the opinions on Owen Hart there, who would seem rather big compared to some of the WWE stars today.

Bret Hart vs Owen Hart, Wrestlemania X. I wonder if wrestling will ever see the high pitched audiences again? Where it is mostly children cheering and chanting? "Let's go Bret..."
