In America, certainly Russo has left a negative footprint everywhere he has had ample power and no filter.

History has a lot to account for, like telling us that the Blondes were good. Do you dispute?
-
Watching the Pillman DVD, they reference a new booker taking over as the reason for splitting up the Hollywood Blondes, they bury this guy (JR, Austin, Dusty) but don't mention him by name. Who was it?

Agree with Hollinger. It has its moments, but lets not get carried away...

Bob Holly had his best ever match with RVD in ECW. Both went into the back slice match with seemingly something to prove, and holy shit did they do it! Excellent stuff.
-
Money INC vs The Steiners in a cage a few days prior to SummerSlam 93 was an amazing match which doesn't nearly get mentioned enough.

I have a lot of time for both. From around 1998 - 2001 I thought they were the shizzle! Watching a lot of their stuff back, it's all very spotty, but great fun and fits the era well. Both could go in unfamiliar circumstances also. For instance Sabu vs Justin Credible at Anarchy Rulz 99 was one of my favourite matches of 99 and it wasn't your A typical Sabu offering. Likewise RVD vs Undertaker at Vengence 2001 wasn't your typical RVD, but it was great fun too.

I love watching Andre for the spectacle. he was presented as larger than life when I was a child so part of that mystique has always, and will always stick with me. It doesn't change the fact I think his in ring work was the pits though, even in the 70's. Still, I have a lot of love for the man. Princess Bride was a brilliant film also...

Oh, any announcer says something along the lines of: "That's it, it's over.... one.... two...." expect a kick out.

I order my PPV's in HD, simply because I enjoy watching the events in the best possible quality. I spent a lot of money on my system, and I like to get the most out of it. That said, I only order events I know I'm going to enjoy. This year I've only ordered Rumble, Mania and Summerslam and thought they were all excellent.

Ric Flair goes to the top rope.

Heel Don West calling people pricks was fine with me.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3

Published 1986... I was a bit confused before I read that bit... -
Haha, Twitter is seriously the best thing to happen to wrestling IMO. Ever.

This could be interesting. Really enjoyed Justin on Art of Wrestling, and obviously this was an interesting year. Justin has a cool YouTube account if you haven't checked it out. He talks about various aspects of wrestling. The dude has been sober for a while, comes across as a nice bloke, so good for him. 2000 was certainly a great year for Justin, and an interesting year (perhaps for the wrong reasons) for ECW. Should be a good watch.
-
Was he talking in terms of a box office draw or atmosphere though? I'd certainly say I've looked forward o Angle / Michaels matches far more than Cena's - and those two more regularly delivered the goods in the ring as well.

I just can't take my eyes off Shawn's lifts, baby! Futuristic height gaining advantage!

Always found something very fake about it. I used to hate Joey Styles pretend awe on certain ECW VHS releases back in the day, considering its obvious he knows what is going on. If you listen to a lot of the Bobby Heenan and JR calling (post dub) 1992 WWF footage, they often piss about too long knowing what they are doing isn't strictly relevant also. But the World Class commentary I'm sure will be great. JR probably has something to prove and went all out, and likely when he was calling matches - he has long forgot who won etc, so it's probably organic.

Dusty, Dustin and Cody vs Shield would be a riot...

See I remember the Nash Thunder "shoot" but I don't recall Goldberg ever doing one? I'll have to dig it out. And for the record, 2001 WCW was excellent, I was excited o see where it was going until, well you know.

Is it Fine for Someone to Develop an Opinion by Just Reading Results?
Sidebottom replied to Exposer's topic in Pro Wrestling
To the original point:anybody can have an opinion. It's how much that opinion is worth that counts. The person giving it may think their opinion is very important, somebody else may think it is baseless, worthless and irrelevant. -
Captain Charisma of 2004/2005 was superb. One of the only legit WWE exits that has ever shocked me. Considering the Smackdown roster was pretty thin in late 2006, he probably would have faired well sticking around for a bit, but it all worked out well.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
Sidebottom replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
Anybody seen the new Sky / Sabin bit? It's cringe worthy bad. Sky is such a useless drip, and I don't think its ever been highlighted quite as badly as this. It's really, really bad. Sabin isn't exactly shining himself, actually far from it. Coupled with the disaster "shoot" AJ did, when are TNA going to stop booking talent outside of their comfort zones? -
USWA had some pretty mental stuff going on at times. Check out Lawler vs Leatherface. They actually run clips from the film to get the message across that this guy actually wants to kill Jerry. Proper mental stuff. Not sure what year is from though.
