I agree with what you're saying, but you can't include Punk in that, the guy is made now. He is like Bret Hart in 1995, he can afford to be feuding with dentists and Japanese men with marker pen down their body. the works remaining consistent, the fan base is hot and you know sooner or later he will be holding the title again and producing quality, top line work.

A lot of people carried knifes to wrestling shows back in the day for some reason.

I'll go with the Hart's if we can count extended family: Bret, Owen, Davey, Dynamite, Neidhart and Su as a fine promoter.

Something I've often thought is that people enjoy content a lot less these days, because it is more accessible and people care less. In 1997 if there was a film I wanted to see, I'd either have to go out and buy it, or if it was on the TV, feel excited that I was getting it and watch/record it. On both occasions I'm getting excited, I'm preparing some snacks for the occasion - life is great. These days people download 3 or 4 films at once, and just casually watch them without the same level of intent or enthusiasm, and are all just too quick to go online and slag something off for a number of reasons. Back in the day if I had two films, two games - whatever. it would be logical to pace them so I could give them both fair attention. These days, I dare say people watch a film at 11pm - 1am with work in the next morning, barely paying attention.

I'd prefer her in THAT Summerslam 92 jacket. Ric would be in his robe, naturally.

You can't see him.

What have you got over the years which has made you smile or made you squirm and are you expecting anything this year? The best I ever got was a whole lot of Hasbro merch back in 1991, including the ring, Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior and Rick Rude figures. Sure, looking back the psycology of two huge babyfaces double teaming a much smaller heel was well out of whack, but it's an untouchable memory all the same.

Sara Del Ray was more important in wrestling than Batista from 06 onwards, apparently.

Davey Richards is no Tommy Billington... at all.

Add me to the list of people who loved the match at Royal Rumble 03. We can all nit pick things to death if we wanted. I could probably rip apart any match on the planet just for shits and giggles.

Not that I heard of. I imagine if this happened, I'd of woken up in my sleep via sixth sense, waited outside my bank to open looking for a business loan to pitch some sort of reality programme around the Hart Christmas table.

AJ styles in WWE, would you like to see it?

Wrestling over the years has proved countless times hat you can have an excellent product with creativity sans major cash. The whole climate of people wanting to run when they should be walking is what screws things up. -
This is true, but it being a callback to a previous Orton/Cena match made me totally forget they used it with Punk/Miz/DelRio. Thinking on that really bad bump at the end, since Cena missed (and they panned in on him with his eyes open), would have been awesome if he improvised and started dragging himself to the ladder, only for Orton to (still) casually grab the titles. The ending comes off flat but I'll give the WWE credit, I was rooting for it to continue and was disappointed it was over. That would have been an excellent visual actually.

Well said. This incarnation of Lawler wielded two great Rumble spots. 96 where he hid under the ring. And my favourite, 97, when he enters from the booth, gets in the ring, and his immediately hit by a beautiful right by Bret Hart, sold to perfection with an excellent over the top rope bump. Brilliant!

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3

Exactly, no way is that true. If Jack Nicholson petitioned for a main event spot at Wrestlemania, he'd get that... and I'd buy.... -
The only account of this I know of was Eddie being in a lot of pain and being unable to have flow by any definition. Angle claims he got into it with Eddie after biting his tongue, as a result of what Eddie said to him backstage.

Interested to know what you think given the current TNA / AJ Styles situation. I for one would. I'd like to see what WWE would do with him, and I'd like to see what he'd do in the WWE. How he'd be packaged and presented. In the ring, the prospect of matches with the likes of Punk, Bryan, Shield, Orton and Cena sounds pretty damn good to me, and a far stretch better than any TNA scenario he could find himself in after 12 years of constant employment there. Go on AJ, take the plunge!
-
No. Shoot interviews are such under the radar, grime affairs nobody takes them seriously in regards to employment potential. Hawk wished actual death on Vince IIRC, he was later booked and put in the HOF. If somebody went on CNN to give a negative interview, that would be a different story. I don't see Marc Mero being on Raw anytime soon...

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?

Why? Dr Mike does a good job, he knows the current product and its history so he carries a certain amount of credibility with his words. TNA have far more pressing issues than to fix something which isn't broken. -
Back in he days Joe was considered a major talent in the making...

I hate to hear sad little bits like this. I was sad to hear JYD's daughter (the one who inducted him in the 04 HOF) died a few years back also.

Completely agree wit this, it's good spirited.
