Couple thoughts on the heat piece of this; I think a piece of that is just Big Show's lack of being over as champ (although I'll note that people probably forget - myself included - that he pinned HHH the week before this. They booked him strong) combined with DX constantly running in on H's matches (and here they stood on the ramp), which usually always leads to the crowd sitting on their hands. And to top it off, this was the 10pm slot of the show. The Rock vs. DX was the main event (which led to the pole match with Mankind the following week). No one saw this coming. To echo the above, HHH did make Show look strong here, but in the end he succumbed to a low blow, instead of the predictable interference, and pedigree and that was that for his tepid reign. Fine match work-wise, no doubt. The crowd popped for the bell and title change, out of complete shock really as this is one of the flatter title changes of all-time.

So we've kicked off this ROH's 50 Greatest Wrestlers Ever project - it's a PTBN and VOW partnership, although I'd like to talk about it here also (PWO is still home - post GWE it was a mutual idea to house elsewhere.) We're also doing a Top 10 Non-Wrestler supplemental poll that has a lot of energy behind it so far. Join us! http://placetobenation.com/introducing-the-honor-roll-rohs-50-greatest-wrestlers-ever/

When I first started to watch this, my initial perception was that this would be a nice "name match" that is just an exhibition of greatest hits moves and shtick from both teams. Holy shit is that wrong. Instead this is 26 full minutes (entrances are cut - match is on YouTube from Matt Hardy's channel) that is laid out incredibly well. It builds great, and as Tim notes, they never went into overkill here. Everything made sense, and honestly all four guys were phenomenal.

Enjoyed the ROH TV talk and BOSJ so far.

Chad is furiously listening to this right now I bet - he's holding off putting on PTBN until he vets this!

Pro-Wrestling Super Show 63 "World Cup" w/ Devon Hales

Good to have The Super Show back boys. -
I like that they got Kincaid on this Midwest weekend tour. Some really fresh matchups. I'll most likely purchase at least one of the three on VOD so they'll get my money.

Lethal/Rush got a good amount of time and I'd expect the same thing for Cole. That's a cool one on paper.

Heroes of Wrestling PTB podcast is a top 5 episode of theirs. Chad is hilarious. -
All good, appreciate the support as always. The bolded was because someone else had also mentioned the same kind of trend and I just wanted to make sure I had a better understanding - because I didn't see that as something within our work. Thanks for clarifying!

There's a lot of great feedback in this thread and want to thank everyone for listening and subscribing. Couple thoughts: - File size: we definitely try to make this manageable without sacrificing quality. Bix rocked out the recent Exile (4:30 + show) at 112 mb, which is a strong number for such a long show. I think the flip side to smaller portions is even more shows on the feeds if they're broken into even smaller parts. A download issue over data isn't something I've thought about as I download over wifi or stream over data if I couldn't DL (let me think more on this). I think our guys are pretty intuitive when it comes to laying out shows and knowing how many parts to make it, not burning out guests, etc while still being thorough. - Shows that exist in a vacuum are going to be longer. More timely shows like This Week in Wrestling, or even BTS (because it's every Monday - although it is not dated) have time stamps or falls, which make them easy to consume. Reaction shows (the most timeliest, and one of our most popular) are shorter and Will drives that to make sure it happens. When we design new shows (JR brought up The Dangerous Alliance as a great example), we do try to aim for that 1:30-2:00 range. I don't think you can do a historical show in a small 30 minute block, without sacrificing a ton of information and quality. Maybe like a RAW recap or super short reaction show. Or perhaps Loss doing a day in the 90s solo - could potentially be something that fit a shorter window. - Hosting is critical and can be one the first things that someone will turn off a show for (I've done it plenty of times when exploring other shows). I think we have some of the best hosts when it comes to driving a topic or a roundtable and I know from past internal discussions how deliberate we are as a team when deciding those. - The GWE was a great success and given the subject matter, warranted a multitude of longer shows. I think we're all glad to be moving back to regular programming now. I do have a question for SomethingSavage (and it's been touched on elsewhere in this thread): Who - for no rhyme or reason - is releasing self-congratulatory five hour podcasts just because? Name shows (or DM me). I assume you're seeing this elsewhere and not on PTBN stuff but I'd love to discuss.

100% agree. You're not wrong. Similar to the Rhode Island show, you'd get the contract guys for sure (although unfortunately the Bucks are hurt), but lot of other open slots. Shame as I like to see them grow in new markets and this is one, unlike Philly that will sell on just the same, where you need to show some matches early.

Good thing there is no such thing as a bad Titans show!

van_Fair - I agree completely, that whole feud felt forced, wasn't helped by the Corino stuff like they probably thought. I think people *do* want to see Whitmer get beat - especially after all that Colby stuff, but Page was a dud and I'd imagine the heat won't be there for the Corino/Whitmer match at BitW.
-
I think it reeks more of tepid crowd reactions - both of these things fell flat, and maybe that is on the booker for not anticipating well (although i'd counter sometimes you need to try because you never know). In Page's case, he had to turn face because Whitmer is a heat magnet. But I was 100% onboard with him turning heel again once that feud was finished. He's an awful face and the crowd couldn't have cared less. Dijak - once he aligned with Nana and once they did the Martini thing, it seemed to really project he'd be heel. The sympathy/booking was all backwards with the Martini thing anyway. I think War Machine is the third group to include here - although they haven't turned heel - I'm thinking their weak reaction once they won the belts was the driving force towards changing it off them. It's almost like they had booked out that they'd go through the Briscoes even in 2015, but once they got no cheers, they aborted that run as soon as the Briscoes thing was done. By no means am I excusing that rash change after such a "respect" build, it's really bad and there shoudl have been SOMETHING else done to play off that rub they got. Really a complete waste.
