Is Ewing Kensuke Sasaki? I never thought Sasaki got to the levels people thought he would and had Choshu as a mentor.

Lana should stay with Rusev. Sheamus and Barrett should sync up with them and they should be called The Foreign Legion. Rusev goes for the World Title, Sheamus and Barrett team and go for the Tag Team belts, and everyone watches each other's backs.

Question: When Sting signed with WWE did he know he was losing to HHH? I wonder when this scenario was brought up and what was his initial response? Also what is the length of the contract he signed? Was Sting REALLY just brought back for merchandise sales and to rub salt in an old wound (Monday Night Wars)???

[crowd sourcing] Favourite ever promos
Lust Hogan replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in Pro Wrestling
In thinking about this thread I guess my favorite promos (as you can tell by the ones I posted) are the ones that you expect to be a typical heel/face promo but there is a big swerve that floors you and makes you quit dissecting and you just go along for the ride. 2 more examples would be the "Pipe Bomb" promo and the Hogan Bash at the Beach heel turn promo. Oh yeah, Jake the Snake had a great promo at Teusday in Texas after the match with Randy Savage. After he slapped Elizabeth he tells Savage to bring her back to their next match. "Let me touch her again.....". SO creepy!! -

Name of worker: John Cena Promotion (and year): WWE 2/27/2012 Link to promo:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxlSWOSINGk Why you think it's great: John Cena had been clamoring for a match with The Rock for years and they finally agreed to wrestle in Miami at Wrestlemania. The Rock comes out and does his stuff with the crowd and then John Cena comes out and totally DESTROYS The Rock on the mic. This was the equivalent of Kanye West turning serious and owning Rakim or something. The line that always got me was when Cena pointed out that The Rock had notes on his arm which looked like it LEGIT pissed off The Rock! The next week on RAW they showed clips of the promo but also showed old Rock promos and highlighted his arms to show that he had been doing this for years. I remember the internet blowing up and a lot of the wrestlers backing Cena since he embarrased The Rock. It seemed like a lot of wrestlers had issues with The Rock coming in and getting the main event slot. I STILL don't understand all of the feud. Was this improvised? Did they have "points" to hit but made up the rest? Did The Rock GIVE Cena this much leeway or did Cena see an opening and TAKE from The Rock? I remember Wade Keller being flabergasted that The Rock looked this bad. Does anyone have any notes from the Observer or The Torch on this? This is my Grassy Knoll...... -

Yeah, that came outta nowhere. He legitimately had people in the audience crying when they thought he was going to honor Olive Oil. NO ONE saw the turn coming because he was acting like Starcade 83 Flair being humble and whatnot. What was even crazier was during the match Steamboat knocked Flair outside right in front of Olive and as Flair was jawing with Steamboat and the ref Olive took a FULL swing with her cane at Flair that narrowly missed him. The police came to settle her down and then Sherri started barking at her. She and Sherri keep yapping and then Steamboat comes out of the ring and the heels back up talking trash. I thought we were gonna get a mixed tag! The crowd just went nuts for this and it all seemed to be improvised based off the cane swing. -

Name of worker: Ric Flair Name of promotion: WCW 1994 Link: None. This was at a house show. Why I think it was great: My friends and I went to a house show at the Township Auditorium in Columbia, SC and got to see Ric Flair with Sensational Sherri defend the WCW Heavyweight Championship against Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat. Ric and Sherri came out and although they were heels the crowd went absolutely NUTS for them and gave them a HUGE standing ovation. Ric got the house mic and thanked the crowd and told them how happy he was to be back in South Carolina wrestling in front of all of the great fans which again popped the crowd. Ric then stopped and said that there was one fan in particular he had something to say to and her name was "Olive Oil" (Vermelle Holland). Now Olive Oil was one of the old ladies that came to ALL of the wrestling shows and sat in the front row heckling all of the heels. She was around 6 feet tall and couldn't have weighed more than 115 pounds. That Saturday (The day of the event) The State Newspaper actually ran an article about how much of a super fan she was and how much she loved wrestling. Anyway, Ric told the crowd that she had been coming to the Township for over 20 years. She had been there when he fought Dusty Rhodes, Wahoo McDaniel, Roddy Piper, Sting, Ron Garvin, Barry Windham. As Ric rattled off all of the names the ENTIRE arena stood and gave her a standing ovation which brought her to tears. As the crowd sat down Ric reminded the crowd that she had been there for all those matches and he had waited 20 years to tell her something....... All of a sudden RIC FLAIR can't speak because HE'S overcome with emotion!! He stepped back and kicked the bottom rope and then put his head on the top rope and buried his head in his arms as Sherri rubbed his back to try to stabilize him. The crowd gives them ANOTHER standing ovation as we felt privileged to be witnessing that moment. The crowd sat down, Olive Oil was standing front row with tears in her eyes looking up at Ric, and Ric finally got his composure together so he could speak. Flair: "I waited 20 years..........to tell you..........................TO SIT DOWN......AND SHUT UP!!!!" MY FRIENDS AND I LOST IT!!!! As soon as Ric said "Sit down" my friends and I leaped out of our seats and starting SCREAMING our approval at Ric and Sherri with stuff like: HELL YEAH RIC! TELL THAT OLD LADY WHAT TIME IT IS BROTHER! WHOO!!! The crowd gasped and the ENTIRE ARENA (minus us 3, no kidding) booed but what made it so funny was that not only were we loud but we started yelling RIGHT as he finished "SHUT UP" so we sounded like an extension of his promo. Add the fact that we were 3 black teenagers heckling an older white woman and needless to say it didn't go over well. We were PELTED with soda and popcorn but what was cool about it was that Sherri tapped Ric and he looked over at us and gave us "The Nod" as we were getting hammered in his honor. Ric then continued: "You cheered for GARVIN, you cheered for WAHOO, you cheered for DUSTY.....AND I BEAT THEM ALL!!! And when STEAMBOAT comes out here.......I'LL BEAT HIM TOO!!! WHOOO!!!!" The crowd was absolutely LIVID! Ric then threw in a "Sit down FAT BOY" and a pelvic thrust and when Ricky Steamboat came out the crowd went INSANE. This was EASILY the best promo I ever heard. Flair took the crowd on a roller-coaster of emotions and then the match the two had was the best match I've ever seen. Flair always says he and Steamboat had matches better than their epic trilogy and I'm here to tell you I was at one of those matches. I was 16 and knew how wrestling worked and towards the end of the match I would have bet you ANYTHING that Steamboat was winning and they would announce the title change on Worldwide. That's how awesome the match was. People always talk about Steamboat selling. Flair hit him with brass knuckles to retain the belt and Steamboat didn't move to get up from the knockout blow until HALF THE ARENA emptied. That's dedication! -

Great job guys! "Grumpy" Chad was awesome. LOL!! -
My immediate thought was Misawa beating Jumbo vaulting himself to the upper echelon of All Japan. Not sure if that fit the criteria.

Hogan's crowd connection v. Bruno's crowd connection
Lust Hogan replied to MoS's topic in Pro Wrestling
For me Bruno came off as more relateable and a hard worker. Hogan was presented as someone to be in awe of. Bruno = Rocky Hogan = Drago or Thunderlips -
Good interview with Magnum today. Someone must have talked to Ross because he has been consistently better the past few podcasts. Very good talk. I didn't realize Magnum's career was only 6 years.

I'm REALLY enjoying old school heels a lot more and all the facials made during matches. I like how heels weren't afraid to show ass to get the face over.

I use wrestling terms in regular sentences without noticing. Like when Joan Rivers was thought to be dead but was still alive and hanging on I was telling my friend "She kicked out at 2" and "Joan barely got the shoulder up." without missing a beat. I didn't even realize I was doing it. I also knock people's hands down when they approach for a handshake and give a Flair-chop time to time..... My brother and I do The Jimmy Garvin hair fluff and Freebirds turnbuckle finger point anytime "Sharp Dressed Man" by ZZ Top comes on as a tribute to Jimmy Garvin. Even funnier considering we're both black.... -

I really love this team. Just a straight up hard nosed team that really came across tough and knew how to get sympathy for their opponents. I liked how The Andersons saved the big bumps so that they meant something. I remember them having a great match with The Steiners when Ole would definitely be considered past his prime. This is a team I'm really high on.

Great team and great at getting heat. The WWF run always seemed bizzare to me but I loved them feuding with The Rockers. Definite Top 5 for me.
-
Great worker. My favorite Austin moments were when he was feuding with Bret. What would be the timeframe to examine for him?

Ross has gotten better. This was a fun listen. Next week is Magnum TA.
