Yeah, that Marty Jones match is wonderful. I actually think his Portland run as a heel might be the highlight of Dynamite's career, or at least it's the most fun to watch due to the booking.
-
They wouldn't make my list, but this is another big plus for Regal that isn't often mentioned in his defense.

I'll pass when my turn comes around.

I don't think so. Here is the ballot. The original deadline was January 1, 2015 which was extended to February and then the project was seemingly abandoned.

My knee-jerk reaction was to inform you that there are threads in this very section for Race, Bock, and Blackwell, but I'll throw out some personal suggestions. Harley Race vs. Jerry Lawler (Memphis, 12/11/1977) This is a broadway, so it may be a bit long-winded for some, but it's one of my favorite examples of Race as touring NWA World Heavyweight Champion. Since it does go a full hour, you get to see everything Race had to offer in that role. Maybe a better rec would be his match with Andre from NWA Classics. It's shorter and completely different, but just as epic in terms of vibe. I'd also suggest Race's matches with Rick Martel. They had one in Portland that was a title defense, and another years later in AWA with no title on the line that may be even better. You'll want to watch every Nick Bockwinkel match you can find. He's The Master. The feuds with Lawler, Hogan, or Hennig are good places to start. Jerry Blackwell is another case where you might as well watch everything you can find, since there's not a whole lot out there. My favorites are one-offs against Lawler, Hansen and Funk, but his best stuff is probably his run as a heel in AWA. I got nothing on The Blackjacks.

I'm still here. I have a 4 year old and started a ridiculous Yearbook project last month so my wrestling-related free time has been tapped. I'll do my best to play catch-up soon. Everything is booked in my head, just have to crank it out sometime.

I have GCW, AWA, WWF, JCP, Memphis, Mid South and AJPW pretty much set. I think I still need some Joshi recommendations (and I need to review my NJPW notes).

We have a great deal of Puerto Rico footage attributed to 1982, though finding dates on this stuff has been a dead end. As of now, I have no idea how to include this stuff on the set (or even what would be worth including). Capital Sports: WWC: Invader #3 vs. Chicky Starr WWC: Roddy Piper vs. Invader #1 WWC: Andre The Giant, Pedro Morales & Carlos Colón vs. Kendo Nagasaki, Ox Baker & Abdullah Tamba WWC: Mil Máscaras & El Monarca vs. Luke Graham & Mr. X (1982) WWC: Carlos Colón & King Tonga vs. Goro Tsurumi & Ox Baker (1982) WWC: Eddie Gilbert vs. Masanobu Fuchi (1982) WWC: The Assassins vs. Big Red & José Miguel Pérez (1982) WWC: The Assassins vs. Eddie Gilbert & Terry Allen (1982) WWC: Carlos Colón vs. Pedro Valdéz (1982) WWC: The Moondogs vs. Tony Colón & Big Red (1982 WWC: King Tonga and Goro Tsurumi (1982) WWC: Gino Della Serra vs. Rocky Tomayo (1982) WWC: King Tonga (Haku) vs. Pedro Valdez (1982) WWC: Chicky Starr vs. Terry Gibbs (1982) WWC: Buddy Landell vs. Angel Díaz (1982) WWC: Ric Flair vs. Jerry Finley (1982) WWC: Ox Baker & Goro Tsurumi vs. Johnny & Angelo Rivera (1982) WWC: Kareem Mohammed vs. Big Red (1982) WWC: The Assasins vs. Big Red & Victor Jovica (1982) WWC: Invader #1 vs. The Avenger (1982) WWC: Ox Baker vs. Keith Larson (1982) WWC: Pierre Martel vs. Steve Lawler (1982) WWC: Ox Baker vs. Keith Larson (1982) WWC: The Assassins vs. Tony Colón & Jerry Finley (1982) WWC: Ric Flair vs. Tony Colón (1982) WWC: José Miguel Pérez vs. Moondog Rex (1982) WWC: Eddie Gilbert vs. Jerry Finley (1982) WWC: Velvet McIntyre vs. Joyce Grable (1982) WWC: Carlos Colón vs. The Sheik (1982) WWC: Kareem Mohammed vs. Jerry Finley (1982) WWC: Abdullah The Butcher vs. Big Red (1982) WWC: Barrabás vs. El Gran Apollo (1982) WWC: Ric Flair vs. Tommy Gilbert (1982) WWC: Velvet McIntyre vs. Joyce Grable (1982)

I'm taking a vested interest in this thread, as I've been making my way through the 1980's for about 4 years now. I would recommend Jerry Lawler vs. Crusher Blackwell (5/4/1981) for a "good sprint brawl".

Somehow, "Flight of the Valkyaries" was the perfect theme for Daniel Bryan. That one seems like dumb luck on the part of WWE, like they could just have easily picked a different random song and it wouldn't have worked in the least. When CM Punk reached back to the early 90's for his theme song, it felt like a revelation. Speaking of Kanye, POWER would be an amazing entrance for heel John Cena.

Fire on the Mountains #1 (SMW)
peachchaos replied to DownNDirtyTN's topic in Publications and Podcasts
I started the 1992 Yearbook the other day and have noticed a decent amount of early SMW popping up. It will be nice to have a podcast to accompany the footage. Awesome.
