I loved the wedding. It was the best and worst of wrestling all wrapped up into one! Yeah... I think you might be giving WWE too much credit here. Depicting Liv as a deranged jilted ex-lover is not exactly the ideal way to present WWE's first official (I think) LGBTQ+ storyline. Satin is making a fool of himself, as usual, on Twitter going into overdrive defending it. With all of that said, I don't think this storyline is mocking gay relationships - like Twitter thinks - any more than than it's mocking straight relationships with all of the Rusev-Lana-Lashley silliness. It's all completely over-the-top and everything is being presented in a "heightened" fashion.

One day I might have grandkids... ...and I'll be able to tell them I was there for Lana and Bobby Lashley's wedding.

Another toxic liability for the NWA: Lagana and Billy really can't win. She's responding to this: Another accuser comes forward and responds to Melina: Statement from Rick Cataldo (the wrestler being accused): What a sad, fucked-up situation.

So, Cornette is apparently suing over a couple of t-shirts made without his permission that mock him. https://www.mandatory.com/wrestlezone/news/1161418-jim-cornette-clownette-t-shirt-statement Ironically, Jim copied the first design and is now selling it himself.

Except for one importance difference: Japanese-made games are actually successful in the United States - New Japan Pro Wrestling is not.

A crippling blow for the roid-infested (lol) NJPW? This company's U.S. strategy has been bizarrely incompetent from the jump. - NJPW World is only available on Fire Stick (and I assume Android devices), but not Roku, AppleTV, PS4, etc. - NJPW America (or whatever it's called) is announced, but there are no plans for U.S. TV broadcasts. What?! - Sticking with the DOA ROH instead of aligning with AEW. Unpopular opinion: NJPW doesn't understand the U.S. market, has no idea what it's doing in that regard, and things like Jericho-Omega were happy accidents instead of a defined strategy for making inroads in the U.S.

I guess NJPW doesn't do any testing...

It could possibly be a "stunt" article, but the impression I got it while reading it is that he's familiar with the majority of the AEW roster from seeing them in other organizations (NJPW, Impact, etc.) or reading about them (which isn't the same thing).

Pretty sure he was joking.

Review of this week's show from a first time viewer: https://alleverythingentertainment.com/aew-dynamite-12-18-2019-review-by-a-first-time-viewer/ Ouch!

It's not that I don't believe @rovert - I do - I just don't understand what Marty's motivation could possibly be for staying in ROH. The place is a dumpster fire that's never been less relevant, less buzzed about, less cool than it is now. PCO as Champion is a good sign, but that alone can't cure all that ails ROH.

Scurll showed up at the latest set of ROH tapings... What is this guy thinking?! Yeah, I'm sure ROH threw an obscene amount of money at him to stay, but he'll never be this coveted again.
-
I read somewhere that Vince McMahon once said 90 minutes was the perfect length for a wrestling TV show. Sure wish he'd take his own advice now, or that others in wrestling would take the same advice.

This doesn't exactly help ROH's case... Ciampa smokes Lethal and Cole in every single aspect of being a professional wrestler - ring work, character, presentation, you name it. Maybe that wasn't the case then - probably not - but half of the trick of running an indie organization (and make no mistake, that's what ROH is and all it is) is being able to see the diamonds in the rough and extract that potential.
-
I'm super-happy for PCO. But here's a really compelling read on why ROH is such a disaster and actually has been one for a lot longer than any of us might have thought. Wrestling Inc.:Tommaso Ciampa Recalls ROH Telling Him How Little He Was Worth

Aldis and Scurll have a legit history and friendship dating back 15+ years. That writes itself. I know they've already had a match for the NWA Title, but their backstory is still compelling regardless.

If Fite wasn't such an awfully designed site (it logged me out and refused to send me password reset e-mails until it was too late for me to get the preorder price), I'd probably be watching this right along with you guys. But boy hoo boy, nothing about that card is exactly making me regret missing out. Still, I'm sure it will be a fun time and exceed expectations, even if only marginally.

Of course it's the right thread - Lana is doing Hall of Fame work right now and is a lock to be the female nomination this year. (Thanks for the heads-up. I deleted the post here and reposted it to the weekly WWE thread.)

Same exact scenario with me last week. I wasn't really in the mood, and the only thing that struck me as "must-see" was that hilarious gif with Keith Lee rising up like a movie monster behind Finn Balor.

This is my guess (and hope) too. The show is already too damn long as it is. People are speculating that it won't happen, but I think Batista understands the WWE system, knew exactly what he was doing by tweeting his choice publicly, and - let's face it - is a bigger star than the rest of the roster combined. Plus, Batista knows how to get what he wants... (I know I'm probably not the first person to make that joke.)
