What Happened When with Tony Schiavone
Zoo Enthusiast replied to flyonthewall2983's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Could be true, I suppose. Bischoff stopped doing the one he was doing on MLW a few months ago, I think. Didn’t seem like it got any traction. I don’t recall anyone talking about it. -
Plus Rollins was friendly with a ton of these guys before he entered the locker room, too.

I am watching ASW this morning and so hyped for Walter vs ZSJ. I’m also giving pretty serious thought to buying the Style Battle gimmick this afternoon to see Walter vs Nick Gage. Man... i really want to check that Walter vs Gage match out. I honestly can't even picture it in my brain. I am a huge fan of both, but they feel like they belong in different worlds. I'm really hoping they are both in that Matt Riddle Bloodsport thing in NOLA. -
I don’t think anyone is assuming that he will be booked, just speculating on what it might take for them to actually draw 10K.

This week’s episode of Talking Sheet did a fantastic job of breaking this whole situation down, I thought. I’d recommend that others who are interested in the murky topic of pro wrestling journalism give it a listen.http://www.sheetsandwich.com/109-wrestling-coverage-problematic-bruce-mitchell-delivers-mike-johnson-fails-cwf-mid-atlantic-brad-stutts-story-questionable-journalistic-integrity-meltzer-satin-elgin/ Nah, you're alright. I can only image 'Les Moore' was chomping at the bit and couldn't wait to record his weekly (I presume he'll stick with Talking Shit for a few months and then drop it like he does every year) rag on Dave when all this broke. I thought they were pretty fair on this one. Pretty tough to be anything but critical of Dave for his “coverage” of this story and this episode wasn’t overboard by any means. Certainly not every episode is good but the last couple have been and they haven’t been three hours long. I just don't find the guy objectional in the slightest and for some reason he seems to have an irrational and obsessive dislike of Dave. I think it was only earlier in the week that I saw a response from someone I follow who corrected him on a tweet he'd put out about why doesn't Dave report on exaggerated New Japan attendance numbers. They linked him something proving that he had, and all 'Les' could do was say something along the lines of "Oh, I wasn't aware of that, glad you've bought it to my attention" Imagine if it was the other way around? Don't get me started on hiding behind a nom de plume either. I've not listened to anything involving him since he ruined an episode of Between the Sheets with his Meltzer agenda and don't intend to ever again. It's bad enough when I occasionally come across him on Twitter! Gotcha. I’m not on Twitter so I fortunately don’t encounter a lot of these things.

I guess WWE is just going to have to dump a ton of Georgia on the network so we can settle this.

I'll admit to liking watching his submission stuff, but god damn his selling is piss poor. No matter what offensive moves he takes, he looks around like he is concussed for about ten seconds, and then immediately attempts to get back to getting his shit in. So I watched his first PWG title defense against Chuck Taylor yesterday. Taylor is great, he changes up his style and gets more aggressive and serious for the match. He treats it like this big moment and like everything he's doing is extremely important. Then you have ZSJ on the other side with no emotion or desperation or anything to counter-balance the great Taylor performance. He really drug down what could have been a powerful match with his inability to play his role. Yeah, the first one wasn't great. I also think what ZSJ may have been going for was indifference/not taking Chuck seriously. They are also building up Chuck so the crowd will take him seriously as a title contender. They weren't there yet for this match and that is also a factor in why it wasn't great. I think it ends up being a great feud and that the stuff between Best Friends and LDRS made 2017 a great year for PWG. Obviously, it does have Marty Scurll, so YMMV. I also personally like ZSJ because of our shared love of Jeremy Corbyn and having had the opportunity to talk about it with him for a while at an AAW show last year, so I am biased toward him and it takes a lot for me to not enjoy his matches (though it does happen sometimes). Trent is one of the best sellers in the world and he helps get the whole thing over. Glad to see you're enjoying him because he fucking rules. Anyhow, everybody but Marty Scurll in that feud is among my favorite dudes, so I love the feud and the year for PWG. -
If they're intending to deliberately lose money, the real statement being made is "we are idiots and Dave Meltzer worked us into a shoot."

We Don't Know Wrestling SUPERTHREAD!
Zoo Enthusiast replied to concrete1992's topic in Publications and Podcasts
I'm going to attempt to locate last year's files later. Have a laptop and external HD it could be on. Sweet, that’d be awesome. I didn't understand the original request. I have most of the old shows but I'm not planning on uploading ALL of them. Trying to keep everything on this feed but will see what I can do on this front. If you have any specific requests I can expedite those this weekend. Any with “NY Mike”/Fray and/or any of the Hales crew, specifically. “We Don’t Know Smackdown” “MOTWC Club” “ZSJ Isn’t That Good” “Sorry PWG” “Paul is Everywhere” “How Could You Still Like This?” “Too Many Marks” “2016 is the Wrestling Twilight Zone” But yeah, as many as you can put up somewhere. -
That's too bad.

I think they have several options on the table for streaming between ROH Honor Club or whatever it's going to be called, regular ROH PPV through the Fite App, HighSpots (there's probably something there since they did that live "Ask The Elite" live stream a couple months back right after the initial Jericho/Omega angle), or even NJPW World if they are involved. I can't imagine pretty smart business people like the Bucks who monetize literally everything leaving that easy revenue on the table. I know they want to make it a destination show but the reality is that there are plenty of people who don't have a spare $1K for the trip, ticket, and accommodations that would pay $15 (or whatever) for a stream of it at home. Not to mention, I don't think guys are going to be wanting to take pay cuts just to be on this show (like I have heard speculated, I think on the VOW Flagship pod). Big names need to be paid.

No one yet, but I’m making that assumption since it’d be a major wrestling show in 2018.

Another podcast was legit one of the biggest reasons I was excited about them adding all that stuff to the Network. -

I am in the same boat on Scurll, though I oddly liked the match with Ospreay at Power Struggle (I think that was the one with Omega/Trent on top?). The finger spot is just the worst, especially. He had major go away heat for me when he won BOLA in 16. I typically eat up everything PWG does but that tournament (and the terrible crowd for it) made me take a break from the promotion for a while. Hes another guy that got himself in with the Bucks, though. I like Ospreay sometimes, depending on who he is in with. -
Where did you get that Bryan date? Everything I have heard for the past year says late September is when it is up.Wondering the same. The Observer said the 9/1 date rules out Bryan. Also, havent seen anything about PWG being involved, since all the guys promoting the show are contracted ROH workers. Its going to be a streaming PPV, so itll almost definitely be a co-promotion with ROH and possibly some NJPW involvement, Id guess. Im hoping for Chicago or Cow Palace. Anywhere else, Im probably out.

That’s definitely the Cena we’ll get for a match like this.

Sounds fun. Are they planning on putting all their shows on YouTube? -
I agreed with the criticisms of the Mitchell piece when I read it. It was somewhat like reading the apologia, “Ric being Ric” stories about Flair. I have no idea what is true re: how Stutts treated women (nor does Bruce really shed much light, which is fine), but “he really loves women” felt like such a handwave to me that it soured me on the whole column, since it doesn’t take much reading between the lines to determine that misconduct toward women is what brought this to pass. It made me wonder what Bruce would have written if the story was about Vince McMahon or someone that Bruce isn’t a friend/fan of.

Yeah, I thought that was the worst match on the show, and I generally like Tanahashi.

So Parv's gonna come out of retirement for the PWO-PTBN Mid-Atlantic pod, right?
