Was watching the Finn v Owens match from NXT and Finn did a stomp from the top onto Owens gut...this should have debilitated Owens for some considerable time, but he got up and them won the match...killed the thing for me.

I am intrigued by the Misawa/Kawada relationship - clear there was a deterioration in their relationship over time, just dont know what happened or whether it was just one of those things?

I really enjoyed the show today, everything was enjoyable. Expected a bit more from the main event, but by no means was it a bad match. Apparently there were stream issues, but I didnt have any of those problems. Wont spoil anything, but I cannot wait for Dontaku now!

AJ TV in the early 90's was so much fun, primarily due to the relative diversity of the undercard. You knew what you would get from the main events but there were truly enjoyable matches before the greatness. '93 AJPW is my favourite run of TV ever, so enjoyable from week to week.

They very much matter...they are key to what wrestling is all about...the struggle for victory, winning titles, being #1, hbaving that victory snatched away from you by some nasty bastard. Its all about wins & loses.

I cant believe Bearball got taken out like that! Does Dresden have no shame? Oh the humanity!

Does anyone happen to have a list of promotions which present their TV online (youtube etc?)

The more I see of Ricochet, the more problems I have with him. He's been in some truly very very good matches, but I cant help but think that is more his opponents doing than his own. Some of the stuff he does is spectacular, but great spots alone do not make great wrestlers. Wouldn't even come close to being on my list.

This is so sad. Was on Twitter at the time the reports started to come through that something was wrong = Rob and Fredo growing increasingly concerned. A tragic, tragic situation. RIP.

Having played the game myself, its so easy to fall into the trap of going with guys on the basis of who they are to become rather than who they are at that point. Be interesting to see how the turn round takes place.

PWSS - TWS#13 on Larry Zbyszko w/ Tim & Kris

Lottery numbers please -
This is a really tough one for me - two of my all timer favourites - I would probably give Bobby the edge if based purely on in ring and definitely give Arn the edge on everything else - the gap between in ring is not as great as the gap on character, promos and other elements, so the nod would have to go to Double A.
-
Every now and then I consider someone else other than Flair as my #1 and then I see a promo, or a match or even just a little something from a match Flair does and back he goes to #1 - it s a total package game for me and Flair has everything. Still time for that to change though, but its going to take some doing.

There are some Cornette promos from Mid South regarding the RnR which are wonderful but I could not find links to online. I love Cornetes promo style - the mania of the man, the sheer volume of words, yet he still manages to make sense and hit all the key points and make me laugh. Has to be said though, that 'Hard Times' is probably the best example of a wrestling promo there is...its perfect.
-
Historically I would always have said AJPW as my perfect promotion and from an in ring perspective, perhaps it is - but man cannot live on bread alone - and I love promos and overt angles too much. Watts seemed to offer that, as well as great in ring action & so much of peak Mid South is iconic, as is also the case with Crockett. Crockett is a whisker behind simply because Watts seemed to use his TV time better, although I could certainly argue the toss on that one. Watts and Crockett set the standard for me.

Those moments where I consider someone other than Flair as my #1 GWE quickly evaporate when I see things like Flair v Lawler - a total package of excellence. Of course, having Lawler to work off would make life easier for anyone.
-
UWF/Mid-South is a great call. It had such a perfect balance of everything I love about wrestling - would absolutely be my choice also.

This is the end of the match in question, but I see a lot of notes relating to 08/03/84 and the Missing Link...of course it not out of the realm of possibilities that they did the same deal in a number of places. Im only going by the match list which states 16/07/84. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0t6JNb14hCg

Too much modern product bashing, not enough old school

I think we could follow up more on points made in the podcasts - there are often things I hear which I would love to know more about or have some thoughts regarding which I never post about - its almost like I listen to the podcasts in isolation of the board and dont realise that this is the perfect place for such things. -
Missing link does the run in.

Just finished watching the 19/07/84 match, which was a lot of fun with Harley being the guy on top for the most part, dishing out a fair beating on Flair. Was building very nicely until then end..... A pleasant surprise given my only real Flair v Harley experience prior was the Starrcade match. The match was from Kansas.
-
Harley is a massive blind spot for me - going to check out the primary matches and see how it goes. I suspect the concept of Harley may be greater than the reality.
-
Thanks Parv - have only ever seen the Starrcade match and am certain that cannot be the best those two have to offer together.
