Would always be the cage for me. The ultimate location to settle the score. Cant think of too many ladder matches I would want to got back to after the initial viewing.

This morning, over breakfast, my son moved some baked beans around on his plate to form a smiley face. He proceeded to claim this to be a work of art. To me it was just some beans that looked like a smiley face. Each to their own I guess. The face did look very happy though....and so did my son.

Are there any 'classic' or just really good matches on Prime Time/TnT on the network? Watching those shows is a bit of a chore.

As always, so much fun! -
About 75% of what I absolutely adore about wrestling you can find in Dusty. What a dreadful loss, am absolutely stunned. RIP Dream

I belive it was/is just Gravesend Town Hall

Money as a motivator...the purse, the giant cheque, money stuffed in a bag...dont care how its presented, having guys go at it for cold hard cash is great....I have no idea why guys in current WWE actually bother wrestling...there is never any reward specified...or have I missed that?

Its a toss up between Condrey/Eaton MX and the Rock n Roll Express...would probably lean towards MX simply due to Cornette - both teams had everything I want to see for a team, could do everything. Honorable mention to Kawada & Taue for sheer volume of quality matches.

Initial thought is that Ted's overall career was better. Can remember a hell of a lot more Ted matches and angles than Rude, although like many I hold Rude's initial WCW run in the highest of regards. To me Ted always represented everything that was great about late 80's early 90's WWF, He always felt like a big deal. Rude had his moments and they could be very good, but they never seemed consistent. Also in the Rude minus column is that he was in by far the worst match I have ever seen in person v Davey Boy Smith in London in '93 - that 15 minute chin lock is always the first thing that comes to mind when I think of him.

Another brilliant episode! -
It is on Ditchs site

Really enjoyed the show - first half was particularly enjoyable, perhaps due to it being unexpectedly good? Slight lull after intermission with the Maria shenanigans which were thankfully brief. Remainder of the card built nicely to a fantastic main event. Highly enjoyable.

21st century wrestling is a total blind spot for me....this is fantastic.

Not at all....just if something is better than something else and we are using a rating system to define the quality of something, then I would have though the thing that was better would have the higher rating. Just want to add, that I dont care about star ratings (and this is probably why), just dont get how something not as good can get the same rating. Anyway, apologies for railroading the thread. Once again, great show.

I had never seen Tenryu v Kojima from AJPW 17/07/02 before and it blew my tiny mind...was so much better than I expected it to be.

A five star match is a five star match, even if it is surpassed. I am full on board with Parv here. I disagree on that point as I mention elsewhere on the forum, but I would rather focus on awesome matches being awesome...its like arguing over which lottery win is better £10m or £10.5m....when the value is that high, I would rather just celebrate the win!

I have and some of the clips have been very interesting. The quality looks to be very good. Very interesting to see what will appear over time.

I certainly wont dismiss that line of thinking, its just different to my own point of view. I feel that of something is going to be a given a grade, then if I feel something is better it should be rated higher, otherwise whats the point of assigning a rating? Anyway, cracking show as always and that Hansen v Kawada match is awesome.
-
Cant argue on the point made...what more could you ask for - comes down to intangibles I guess - gut feeling - I think matches like MIsawa/Kobashi v Kawada/Taue from 09/06/95 or MIsawa v Kawada from 03/06/94 are a notch above...I guess the answer to what more could you want is 'more'...perhaps that's the difference. I wont argue with anyone who give that match ***** - it is absolutely wonderful. .

Im about to watch the Kawada v Hansen match again....I recall it being awesome, but still a level below the top tier AJPW matches of the period. ------- OK...watched it again...yep, its an awesome match, but not ***** for me - my idea of what a ***** is based upon what will be seen over the next 2 years of AJPW tv. Two matches in particular which are the very definition of a ***** to me. Kawada v Hansen was merely amazing!

I knew getting up at half five would be rewarded!

Is discussing/analysing wrestling more enjoyable to you than watching?
Karl replied to BigBadMick's topic in Pro Wrestling
I read and listen to things about wrestling way more than I do watch actual matches or shows. I find the business and history of wrestling so fascinating. Even during the years where I watched absolutely no wrestling I would still periodically subscribe to the observer just to read about the business and listen to the podcasts - I wouldn't have a single clue who half the people being mentioned were, but I was still fascinated. The flip side to this is that because of the great PWO podcasts and forums I can often be inspired to go on mad wrestling binges where I find everything I can about certain things.....I am quite happy with this balance really. P.s. the first thing I did when reading this thread was look up Crusader Kings 2....may god have mercy. -
